Team INA has one title in the bag tomorrow as Mohd Rijal/Vita Marissa beat Songphon Anugritayawon/Kunchala Voravichitchaikul in straight sets: 22-20, 21-18. A great result for the new pair!
They will meet the top-seed Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir, who went through a tough match against the KOR youngsters Yoo Yeon Seong/Kim Min Jung 19-21, 21-17, 21-18. They appeared to have lost when they lost the first set and trailed 13-17 in the second set, only to come back strongly and win 8 pts in a row to force a decider. The KOR pair also had a 11-7 lead at the interval of the rubber-set, only to see that lead got overturned as well as the World Champion won the decider 21-18! What a close shave...it's time for Nova/Butet to win this Japan Open title, after losses in 2 straight Finals (2006 to Flandy/Vita and 2007 to Zheng/Gao)!
Sony Dwi Kuncoro did not lose a set so far as he strolled to the Final, beating the host player Kenich Tago in straight sets 21-15, 21-16. He will face an uphill task possibly against Lee Chong Wei yet again, after being thrashed easily in the Beijing Olympics QF.
So, INA will have at least 3 Finalists, with one more to be determined in the last match of the day, between Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir and Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui.

WPT/CEH have like a million to 1 chance of beating VM/LN. Poor records against pairs ranked higher than them. LCW, if he makes it to the finals, may face an uphill tasks. He said, he was sick few days before JO and he feels the fatigue. If that takes its toll, then he will be an easy opponent for SDK...:crying:

Rijal is not smart as Flandy...different class but it helps Vita with Rijal's stronger smashes..
"Smartness" comes with experience :p Vita is also probably more error-prone than Grace....
Both Rijal and Grace will definitely need more playing experience against the top XD pairs like He/Yu and Nova/Butet. Hopefully splitting them up and pairing them with more experienced compatriots will accelerate the learning curve so that by the time they are paired up again (hopefully starting Malaysia SS next Jan), they will rise up to the top 10 quickly.

Thats Nova's biggest problem........INA coach is trying to work on his serve in many years now...
Since Rendra is in Pelatnas, I hope rendra can partner with Lilyana....will be fun to watch...at least Rendra's smash is much harder...
Yup...XD needs a young partner with Liliyana Natsir. Rendra Wijaya (with his experience, which is more than Lingga Lie or Tantowi) could be a good candidate. Mention this to Ko Aryono please....hehe :D The weak link of XD pairs are usually the men (exclude LYD from this...:P), so, Rendra should be good enough. He Hanbin is one good example...he's not that good in MD, but, his partnership with Yu Yang is now bearing some fruits.

Actually Rijal/Greys lost to He Han Bin/Yu Yang in final of world junior ( Vancouver) and Rijal/Greys beat LYD with other partner so we can see that LYD and HHB/YY has improved so much since then....

QF vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam [4] -- chance of an upset possibly?
SF vs Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1]
Flandy Limple/Greysia Polii [5]:
R16 vs Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Chau Hoi Wah
QF vs He Hanbin/Yu Yang [2] -- huge match.....He/Yu will now become INA XD's main rival, apart from Lee/Lee (if they are still intending to play).

LCW manage to revenge of his buddy Kuan BH's loss againt the Danes at the same venue during TC06

Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan claim their third seeded victims after they beat Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki 21-16, 21-19. Can they go all the way and win their first Super Series title? It will be very very tough...but...at this form, they can beat almost any pair :cool:
I hope they'll grab their first international title 2mrw... Facing the Danish pair I think...

The quality of opponents Bona/Ahsan have beaten this week are definitely very high:
R32 bt Kwon Yi Goo/Ko Sung Hyun -- KOR's promising MD
R16 bt Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif -- MAS in-form pair
QF bt Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda
SF bt Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki -- who beat the World and Olympics champion yesterday.
