abedeng 09-19-2008, 09:39 AM WS:
Wang Yihan vs Tine Rasmussen - Tine too smart for pretty Chinese girl
Lu Lan vs Zhou Mi - Veteran ZM to set up repeat of Singapore Open final
MS:
Kenichi Tago vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro - Home support might not be enough for Japanese youngster
Lee Chong Wei vs Joachim Persson - LCW still too good despite not being in the best form
WD:
Maeda/Suetsuna vs Cheng/Zhao - CHN youngsters will exploit Japanese pair's fatigue
Wong/Chin vs Vita/Lilyana - INA to take this home, MAS pair need to cut down mistakes to have a fighting chance
MD
Matsuda/Ohtsuka vs Rasmussen/Paaske - BC's resident forummers have too much quality
Rian/Yonatan vs Bona/Ahsan - Dunno, really. I will give it to the former for beating reigning Olympic and World Champs.
XD:
Nova/Lilyana vs Yoo/Kim - World Champs might struggle a bit
Songphon/Kunchala vs Rijal/Vita - Thais will make this an international final

Overall view: A lot of new players/pairs will be competing in this yr's edition.
MS - LCW is set to advance and perhaps defend his MS title.
WS - The CHN's WS squad's threat, in Tine, is back. Can she go all the way and defend her title?
MD - Too bad Tony & Candra won't be able to continue and defend their Japan Open title. Perhaps it'll be our JR & LP??
WD - Is there a new CHN WD on the rise??
XD - Possible all-INA affair in the Finals. This time with only Vita being able to defend the XD title (she won the title with Flandy last yr).

if Vita can win this JO 08. it will be her 3'rd anniversary at JO with different partners every year.. hehehe... am i correct???
..well, not every year, but yes, she has won the Japan Open XD title twice before; she won in 2004 (with Nova, just before her long bout with an injury) & 2006 (with Flandy)..;)..If she does win this yr, again, i think a nickname for her should be in order, "The Biennial Japan Open XD Specialist"..;)
Btw, typo on my part, it should've been "she won the title with Flandy in 2006"
carine 09-19-2008, 11:17 AM if in Japan 12pm. than in Malay should be 11 am. am i correct?? :D:D

Predicting that the FINALS to be played on Sunday 21-Sep-2008 will be as follows:
MS Chong Wei LEE [MAS] [1] - [INA] Sony DWI KUNCORO [2]
WS Tine RASMUSSEN [DEN] [2] - [HKG] Mi ZHOU [7]
MD Yonatan Suryatama DASUKI & Rian SUKMAWAN [INA] [5] - [DEN] Lars PAASKE & Jonas RASMUSSEN [2]
WD Miyuki MAEDA & Satoko SUETSUNA [JPN] [1] - [INA] Vita MARISSA & Liliyana NATSIR [2]
XD Nova WIDIANTO & Liliyana NATSIR [INA] [1] - [INA] Muhammad RIJAL & Vita MARISSA [5]
In other words, at the Semi-Finals, 5 from [INA], 2 from [DEN], 1 from [JPN], [HKG] and [MAS] to make it to the FINALS.
So far, it appears that Tine RASMUSSEN [DEN] and Mi ZHOU [HKG] are the only ones playing well. The others are not playing as well as they should.
.
hansonlouphers 09-19-2008, 04:00 PM Oh, haha. I have to delete my "EVERY YEAR". lol. Lemme correct it, if Vita won the title again this year. It would be her 3'rd times in winning of Japan Open?? Haha.. If still uncorrect. I'm hiding..hahaha..

el-khanz 09-19-2008, 07:05 PM Deep in my heart I hope all INA's players will win their match and through to the final to clinch the title. But it's not gonna be easy for them so I'll just wish them all the best and let the better win.

samuel882 09-19-2008, 08:46 PM Just watched the highlights between LCW vs Sasaki-San. LCW backhand return from the baseline was getting worst then that embarasing game against LD in OG final. The Japanese manage to score few points from LCW weak return.

huangkwokhau 09-19-2008, 11:07 PM yeaa.. it seems they always in trouble to korean pairs.. what's ur idea bro??:confused:
No idea...Kor and CHN playerr are so descipline and they have the attitude of " never give up"....thats different between INA players vs KOR/CHN players...
Like in Taipeh Open, you can see that Japanese/Kor players had their own practices without being told.....on the other hand, INA players needed to be told if needed practice or not....thats a reality....our players are spoilt..
abedeng 09-19-2008, 11:07 PM Tago still needs patience, very important when playing the styles of Sony
huangkwokhau 09-19-2008, 11:08 PM Tago must stay calm in his first ever SS semi final appearance
This is his 2nd second I believe ( first one was INA Open , losing to Simon in 3 sets)
ctjcad 09-19-2008, 11:08 PM ..livestream on Shanghai Sports died...:(...i guess will wait til next CHN player/pair to compete...

Too bad he did copy TH's poor forehand defense :o

Yup, and we saw it live in stadium, in the 3rd game he made the mistake of allowing Simon to lead too far .....
KlasseE 09-19-2008, 11:12 PM ..livestream on Shanghai Sports died...:(...i guess will wait til next CHN player/pair to compete...

..yep, that's what i meant....hopefully all CHN players advance to Finals so we can have continuous live webstream..;)
abedeng 09-19-2008, 11:19 PM Why does Tago like to do a lot of rallying? In the men's game, rallying is obsolete already.
shopablueholic 09-19-2008, 11:20 PM i've seen on posted pics of how CHN teach their athletes to become great athletes..
they teach their athletes from 3-4 years old..
but INA athletes has just practice intensively when they are 12-13 y.o.
what a difference..

If Tago plays more rallies will be advantage for Sony....Sony is good at smashing during rally..
abedeng 09-19-2008, 11:23 PM Sony teaches Tago how to finish rallies.

ctjcad 09-19-2008, 11:26 PM Sony with a slight lead...9-8...2nd set
Tago might want to mimic Taufik, but so far i haven't seen anything, skills-wise, that resembles that of Taufik....Maybe Chun Seang is a closer resemblance to Tago...
Crowd making some noise now...
Is a good experience for Tago to play against player of Sony statue, it can only help for his young developing career. Who and where are those players same batch as Tago during World Junior Championship? Is Arif of Malaysia one of them? I recall China had Chen Lung at that time?
waile 09-19-2008, 11:26 PM give tago more time... he did well enuff to reach the semifinals... as a junior player... malaysia does not even have capable players like tago... sigh
huangkwokhau 09-19-2008, 11:27 PM Oh boy....Vita/Rojal is even at 20 all...they had a chance to close it

madbad 09-19-2008, 11:32 PM Lets hope Tago doesn't become the Taufik of late :D
I think JPN badminton know they have a budding star in Tago. No way they will allow him to fall into Taufik trap. They need to bring him along with little pressure and let him develop to his full potential. As for Taufik... [SIGH]...
Tjun Tjun 09-19-2008, 11:32 PM Weak reply and Sony fully taking advantage with a quick drive .......17-14...........
madbad 09-19-2008, 11:33 PM Come on Vota/Rijal..leading 5-1 then 5-5.....not consistent yet
New pairs are never consistent. Generally takes a few tournaments before they gel.... if they ever do. This will be a close one till the end
waile 09-19-2008, 11:33 PM Tan Chun Seang is not being grilled at home... I think BAM is keeping him at home for decoration only... Most countries sent their young players to post Olympic tournaments coz most top players shy away immediate post Olympic. Exc for Malaysia of coz. Which is why Malaysia is lagging behind other countries in term of badminton development. Forget abt LCW. He is established already. Dont keep on harping abt LCW only... we need the next generation players... Wake up BAM!!

the fact is TCS suffered a drop of form lately. He even cant win against the unherald K.Yogendran in recent Penang Open. His place in National Squad will be in trouble

ctjcad 09-19-2008, 11:39 PM I agree with that :D:D
...i was referring/comparing Chun Seang and Tago's style of play lah...not looks-wise...of course, Chun Seang is more ganteng (handsome) lah (you know i'm writing that cos i don't want to upset our other young M'sian female BCers here)..;)
anyone knows how old is WYH????

robin7 09-19-2008, 11:45 PM Tago reminds me of Nishikori in tennis. Both are future stars in JPN with 19 years of age.
The only difference is that the latter is more confident and solid in his groundstrokes and serves.

Agreed, Kei Nishikori is quite solid as a player. I hope he does better than Shuzo Matsuoka (no puns intended) or achieve better results than Kimiko Date or Ai Sugiyama or Naoko Sawamatsu:)
waile 09-19-2008, 11:48 PM oh my god... why did the live score blacked out... no more live matches?
