Hey Chu Pa!
I dunno what the times are, but I would be glad if I am able to join you. Have you considered going on fridays too?

Chu Pa, I "heard" level of play is quite high there on certain days... I am really bad at badminton... (at the moment.. will get better over the summer!) .... but zero is not bad! (compared to me) ..... Maybe I can make it this wednesday since my exams are finished on wednesday! ... but then agian I don't wanna go alone cause no one will want to be my partner after seeing me play ^^.... so maybe I'll go next wednesday with Barry!.

Hey guys. :) Rosemount on Wednesdays start at 7:30pm and runs to 10:30pm. Will be my first time playing there. I will be going a long with my friend as he is my regular partner. Hope to see you guys there. :) Fridays, I like to go but schedule is quite full. If I had the time I'd play 7 days a week. :) Take care everyone.
Hi,
I have played at Rosemount before, but it's been a while. I know that they have both a badminton 'Club' and 'Drop In' days. Does anyone know if Wednesday is the club or drop in ?
I would be interested in going .... just wondering if I would need to join the club or not ... any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Ho mah fellow BCer's. :) I went yesterday to Rosemount. Enter the front doors and pay your $5 admission fee at the front desk and off you go. Skill level is quite high. If you are not an intermediate level player do not go to Rosemount. No one will play with you if you are not a skilled player. Usually, the people already play in their little groups so pretty hard to join in. Best if you go with four friends so you can have a chance to play. They mostly play feather birds but some people play nylon. The Ceiling is not too high but lighting is good. Love that A/C. :) I would only go if you have three friends to join you.

Only doubles. I'd advise if you go to Rosemount please go with friends or you have no chance of playing. They have a new schedule out for the times badminton in the summer. I didn't pick up one. You might want to give the community centre a call about the times for badminton.

=> This is gonna be my 1st post here at BC <= :D
I have went to Rosemount on Fridays, but I haven't been there for a year now, since my school has a club that I regularly play in.
I much prefer playing on a Sunday afternoon at 4 pm since I haven't got a car/license, and I am likely to take the bus there. Wednesday at 7:30...I'll see if I can get a ride...but it's kinda late, I don't know if I can make it.

If you live south of Steeles..take any west bound bus such as Steeles 60 until you get to Bathurst. Then take the north bound bus until you reach New Westminister; it actually stops at Rosemount. Note that there is two fare; 1 TTC fare (for the first bus) and 1 YRT fare(the bathurst bus).
Your best bet is to take subway to Finch Station, and take that Steeles bus to Bathurst

Just looked at TTC map... isn't bathurst TTC as well??
http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/ttc/schedules/index.htm
Hrm.. so much bus involved... If coming from home I gotta take bus to Jane subway and from Jane subway I'll go from there I guess.. I could take the bathurst bus from bathurst station but I think that would be a LONGGG busride.. so maybe i'll take subway to sheppard or Downsview and then go across and change to bathurst bus... Lol.... maybe I won't go unless I can get myself a ride.... this seems like a long ride.. and gotta pay for 2 different buses!! :\

Bathurst is in fact TTC, but the section of the route that north of Steeles is part of YRT system because YRT has contract with TTC to operate that, and so Bathurst north of Steeles is an extra fare.
btw, www.yorkregiontransit.com is down right now

How much is extra fair? $2? So dats like.... $1.20 for TTC bus ticket... + $2 extra... for one trip.. there and back.... would be 6.40 + the $5 drop in cost for rosemount .... !!! $11.40 for 3 hours of badminton :\

High school student cash fare is $1.50, tickets are $13 for 10
total would be $10.40 for 3 hours...
Getting anywhere costs money
Of course, you could try walking up Bathurst from Steeles to save a bit

ARGH! :\ Suddenly.. the $10 drop in fee at Lee's doesn't seem so big.. :D I think I'll go there if I get someone to drive me :D Badminton sure is getting expensive ....
Hey Chu Pa, will you be going this wednsday?
I want to go but I don't want to go alone because I'm afraid that no one will play with me.....:p
Or if anyone is going, please leave a message on this thread. This way we can have a BF.com day....:D

Zero, I haven't been to Rosemount in two weeks now. My friends and I have been quite busy with work and other things. If you can stand snobby people at Rosemount then you are ok. Wednesdays are for mostly intermediate to advanced players. I have a friend that goes on Sundays and she likes it. I'll try Sundays if I have time. Sundays 4pm but don't know when it ends. Rosemount Community Centre address is:
1000 New Westminster Drive
Thornhill, Ontario L4J 8G3
Tel: (905) 709-4597
I usually play on Sundays at L'am from 9:00am-12:30pm if anyone is interested but they are opened from 8:15am-2:00pm. The environment is much more friendlier and beginner level right up to advanced is welcomed. Fee is $5. In the summer time, there are less people there. If you want to practice your skills i.e. drops, smashes then you have all the court time and space. They are closed right now because of the strike but will be opened after the strike. See you guys at L'am when it opens again. :)
isn't rosemount on fridays?
i dunno...i was supposed to go on fridays but then i didn't...cuz busy and stuff...
what's the level of competition on friday nights? i wanna try going once...never been there before :D
i heard L'Am was pretty competitive...or was that on saturdays? i don't remember...but at L'Am i saw these ppl there that are crazy good haha
o well...i've only been there once...

Saturdays are quite competitive. If you are intermediate to advanced level then playing L'am on Saturdays is quite good. Every Saturday is up to capacity so you won't get too much playing time. All you need are 3-4 good competitive games and that is all one needs. I rather play 3-4 highly competitive games and sweat like a pig then playing 6 matches without sweating.
