well, my racket string just broken last few hours...
the question is , should i cut it off? because the broken part is just on top of the racket..shud i cut it to avoid the shape of the racket becomes out of shape?:confused:;)
here are some pic tures..
The string shoudl be cut off right away after it breaks to relief the stress of the racket because the distribution of forces is uneven.

Definitely cut the strings right away. The series of blurry images zooming in looks almost like a horror show.

When your string snaps you should cut it off the frame ASAP

ok, i had just cut it off..
btw, the racket will have some damage or not now??:(:(
i mean the racket frame
It depends on where the string broke. The frame should be fine, unless it was like for a long time, yes that would eventually damage the racket.

Contrary to all the posts here ... I never cut the strings unless the racket is mounted and clamped on a stringing machine.
Imagine how much stress the racket frame is subject to as certain parts of the string bed are being cut.

Well, usually a pair of scissors is more easily and more quickly found than a stringing machine. Also, cutting radially outwards should not put anymore stress on the frame than it was subjected to when the string first broke.

This is what happend when one majorly only hangs out in the tournaments forum..:p.Well,whether to cut or not,it depends on how high do u strung ur racket at?If u strung it at 36..n u left it in less than one minute in that position,it'll break. But if u strung it at less than 18lbs,..it's cool, especially if urs r a genuine.I used to have a friend who left his racket with a broken string..n he just cut it off few days later when he went to restringing.Nothing happend.:p

When you cut the strings, do you have to cut every row/line? Also, do you have to pull them out as well? I'd just like to know, as I've never broken my strings before and I can see that they are on the verge of snapping.

a few thoughts:
- from the broken string, looks like the tension is about 20 lbs. Also, since the broken spot is OUTSIDE the frame, it's caused by either a bad string job, or you scratched the floor really hard. you should find out how that happen, so that it won't happen again.
- as for cutting. YES, you should cut it right away! BUT, the point is that you should but ALL of the strings, not just that broken one.
- to do the cutting, you should cut it in a diagonal fashion, say from lower left to upper right, and cut both the main and cross strings.
Have fun palying.

Should you pull the strings after cutting them as well?

you dont have to but it will save your stringer a couple minutes to pull them all out

I guess u dont need to worry. Judging by the Yonex logo...the tension should be at most 20? That wont deframe the racket...
