From the draw and list of entries, it seems that Bulgaria's first GP tournament has a lighter draw for MS than Bittburger Open GP... ;) More players ranked 100 or worse, less players from the top 30-60 like next week... :p

Looks like for the first time that Bulgarian Badminton has GP level tournament which sponsored by KLRC. Yeah, many lesser known players will come to Sofia, INA's Djarum shuttlers has good prospect to grab title here.

Additional info :
Date : 07-12 October 2008
Venue : Sofia Hall "Borisova Garden", Sofia
Total prize money : US$50,000
Website : www.badmintonbg.org/index.php?lang=eng (http://www.badmintonbg.org/index.php?lang=eng)

I personally think INA's WD [Mel-Shendy] has the best chance of winning a title for INA in this tournament... ;)

Chance of team INA members winning the title:

Mel-Shendy 50% [they have all the abilities to defeat #1 seed Valeri-Nina]
Fran-Shendy 45% [INA XD are almost always awesome lately...] ;)
Fran-Rendra 40% [Boe-Mogensen will probably stop them in the finals] :o
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono 30% [his chances will go up significantly if Joachim Persson and Lee Tsuen Seng pulls out]
Maria Elfira 20%
Mel-Rendra 15%
Ari Yuli Wahyu 10%
Rosaria Pipin Pungkasari 8%
Maria Febe 5%
Hayom Rumbaka 1% :p

So far Maria Febe has beaten some "big" names in BWF tournaments ;

- Petya Nedelcheva

I don't think Petya played in her level when lost to Febe. She played too much tournament at the time also Petya & Febe played in same team in INA's Super Liga

I believe MARIA is their baptized-name.... ;) So their real names should be Kristin Yulianti
Febe Kusumastuti
Elfira Christina
If I'm correct, they are all Catholics... so they got the MARIA name afterwards... :) Until today, many people call...
Maria Kristin: Kristin
Maria Febe: Febe
Maria Christina: Fira

Andre Kurniawan Tedjono progresses to the SF after beating Rajiv Ouseph in rubber-sets: 12-21, 21-14, 21-14. The match concluded with a good close call by the (ugly) lineswoman :o

4 out of 5. India is doing pretty well in this tournaments by having 1 representative on each event (except MS) in SF.

Rendra Wijaya/Meiliana Jauhari take the first set 21-18! A good start for them as the Chinese-Taipei pair is more experienced than them.

YES! Rendra Wijaya/Meiliana Jauhari have beaten the second-seed Chen Hong-Ling/Chou Chia Chi 21-18, 21-19. Krisna said that the match was evenly played. These 2 pairs should meet again in R16 of the Dutch Open next week.

The INA pair will face the Indian pair V. Diju/Jwalla Gutta in the SF tomorrow.
