Thanks SS Cheung 06-21-2002, 05:20 AM I got one with that tension in Bg65. But not used much. the frame is still OK. Sidesurfer 06-21-2002, 05:48 AM hmmm.......... i got one with this tension but the shape of the frame changed a lot, much narrow n i think it got 5 mm longer :| when compare with a long racquet < mp88 >, its top can touch the inside of the mp88:( ayl 06-21-2002, 08:57 AM G'day, I had my cab21 strung with BG80 at 24x22 and it felt alright.... but it felt much better after tension has dropped about a pound. Speaking from my personal experience I don't think Cab21 will benefit that greatly from having any more tension than 24lbs. A guy in my club has a Cab21SP strung at 25x24, BG66 and it did not feel any different from mine. Byro-Nenium 06-21-2002, 09:17 PM It shouldn't be a problem to string it at that tension. I strung my Cab20 Original and Slim-10 at that tension as well. Wong Choon Hann uses this racket and as we know, the pros string their rackets at extremely high tensions. Shouldn't be a problem unless its 3U GRObFURSt 06-25-2002, 09:36 PM What is this racquet like ? How old is the Cab 21 model ? What colour is it ? Thats what i remembered reading. Choong and Lee use a Ti-10 and Iso 800 respectively. qwerty 07-02-2002, 04:41 AM I just want to know what kind of a racket this is. Offense/defense? Is it head heavy like the Ti10? or even or light headed? What kind of players will be fit using this racket? ayl 07-02-2002, 06:16 AM G'day, I have a Cab21 and I find it a nice balanced racket for all round use. It is slightly head heavy so it has good smash power and it is not too weighty, so it is also suitable for doubles as well. The racket is also extremely durable. I have lost count of number of racket clashes mine has gone thru (one of the result destruction of another racket) and it still holding up like day one. Personally it is my best all round racket. If I am having a bad day using MP100/77 I will always go back to Cab21 to save my day! :) Yogi 07-02-2002, 07:19 PM That Too when it is 2100Rs Only for Cab 21Sp. It is something like 50% the price of these Mp rackets and Plays Gr8. The best thing to do would be to strip the handle naked and then add some towel onto it. Behold u have a Great lady in a Towel for ur service....(Exclusive) DanielLou 03-31-2003, 07:03 AM So this is a thread for Cab 21! :D I broken my Cab 21 SP last night :( Though I still keep my first Cab 21(original, brought 5 years ago, might broken anytime) but not dare to use it anymore. Nowadays I can only find 21 SP and Special here (Hong Kong). I am in searching for a new model. Any good suggestions? Well, I smash a lot and mainly play doubles (men's and mix). I have a Ti-10 too, but it's such a dumb racket in my hand and I was never able to get the same feeling with it as I have with Cab 21. ayl 03-31-2003, 07:07 AM Try a Cab20 or 22. I've got Cab20/21/22 and they are a great combo together! DanielLou 03-31-2003, 07:17 AM the new Cab 20 MP or the old Cab 20 (Tour)? My friend once got one of the old, but he broken it in its very first game. :D Is Cab 20 good for doubles? I noticed quite a few single pros used to use Cab20, but not those double players. ayl 03-31-2003, 07:27 AM G'day, I've got an old Cab20SP, Cab21AS and Cab22SP and I find the Cab20 the best all round racket, as it combines good control, feel and power. If you are out to turn shuttles into pulp or play more aggresive doubles, Cab22 is probably the better choice as it is head heavier and packs a punch. It swings a little bit slower than Cab20 though. Control players should like Cab20 more. Cab21's performance is somewhere between Cab20 and Cab22. DanielLou 03-31-2003, 10:12 AM thx, ayl. my friend said she will be able to bring some new models for me to test first. I might ask her to include a Cab 20 or Cab 20mp. Cheung 03-31-2003, 10:43 PM Daniel, why don't you buy another cab21sp. They can still be found in HK, with a little effort. The new cab20sp feel a bit lighter than the older models. I personally prefer the oler ones. It may be due to a slightly different composition of graphite used in the manufacter. I quite like the cab22sp for doubles but because I like to play singles as well, I use the cab20 which is still quite popular amongst amateur players in HK DanielLou 03-31-2003, 11:14 PM good yet safe choice, Chueng. :) I can get back my another Cab 21 from my friend this summer. Maybe I should get one more Cab21 for back up. :D I am afraid that sooner or later there'll be no more Cab 21 or 21SP, this is not because they are not as good as the new models, but becoz they make less profit for Yonex. Here friends around me never go for these antiques. I am the only one using Carb oval head rackets. I'd like try something really different though, maybe just for my curiosity. If I find something I really like, I'd buy one. Cheung 03-31-2003, 11:32 PM I reckon you should get more cab21's! Just like me with older cab20's...stocked up on them. I played around with MP99. Seem a bit like cab21 with the slim shaft but slightly stiffer and the rotation along the axis of the shaft is a little more resistant. kwun 04-03-2003, 09:07 PM i 2nd that. cab21 can still be found and also much cheaper than the new and flashier Yonex. with the price other ppl pay for a brand new mp99, you can buy two brand new cab21... Yodums 04-03-2003, 09:28 PM Slightly off topic but I thought the +2 pounds on the cross only applies on isometric racquets not oval? Can anyone please explain this to me. A search didn't help. roymadd 04-05-2003, 07:55 AM Guys....as far as i concern this cab 21 is a legend because it being utilize by great² players long time ago....so no doubt about it....but my worries is does the new series by YY like...Aerotus, Titanium, Iso, muscle power and the lates is Armotec able to beat and pass all the best characteristic quality of cab series....????:p tihocan 04-06-2003, 12:44 AM Currently i m using mp55sp thought of getting a cab 21 sp for my double games. Is it a good choice? Planning to string it with bg 85 22lbs. anyone care to comment? ayl 04-06-2003, 05:51 AM G'day, You should find Cab21 an easier racket to use for doubles, if you have good control and don't plan in smashing your opponents off the court. If you are to make holes in the net, stick with MP55. Both Cab21 and MP55 plays well with BG85 at 22lbs onwards. And seem to last ok. tihocan 04-07-2003, 10:33 AM ;) TQ for the input just got the rac and will be testing it out this wed. strung with bg 85 at 24 lbs. mp55 is a bit slow for doubles for hehe, it still makes hole on the court not on the net :D :D sometimes red marks on opponent's body :p :p (tat is they r half naked on court). my mp55 is with bg 80 at 24 lbs nice control and tremendous power but can't really feel the birdie for those close net plays. TQ fhchiang 01-09-2004, 10:24 PM dunno whether it's only me or what... but i think cab21 is not an easy racquet to play with unless you've reach certain level........................... i switched from ti-10 to cab21..... and i kept hitting the shuttle with my frame...... and clear are going out.............. it's not light though..... but quite responsive...... powerwise i'm not sure... but defense wise definately better than ti-10 ayl 01-10-2004, 04:55 AM Most people have trouble switching from Isometric racket back to oval styled rackets. Ti-10 isn't a racket to get used to first place so switching to Cab 21 is probably causing some slight mistiming in your shots. Cab21 is a great racket however. Persist with it and with time you should grow to like it. fhchiang 01-11-2004, 03:08 AM but... it does produce some really tight net shot............... reza_gan 02-23-2004, 11:20 AM Originally posted by ayl The racket is also extremely durable. I have lost count of number of racket clashes mine has gone thru (one of the result destruction of another racket) and it still holding up like day one. Is it really durable ?? I know it was a good overall performance racket and I'd like to buy one but some people said that it's frame is so fragile and it can't hold high string tension (more than 24 lbs). I've just bought MP77 SP a few days ago and I strung it with BG80 @ 24 lbs. I feel that the power is quite good enough but need some extra effort to control the shuttle. I like to buy a new Cab 21 SP (because I live in Indonesia and here's nothing but the SP versions) or the Cab 20 Muscle. How much does it cost there? Brave_Turtle 09-22-2004, 10:20 PM The highest tension I put on my cab21 was 25lbs with bg85. It hold that tension very well despite many clashes. I know that old cab21 had durability issues but the new ones seems to be bullet proof (like cab20). Beside I had the chance to play with the famous Boron2 this summer and find that 3U cab21 was the closest racquet to Boron2. It is less head heavy in 3U but was still slightly head heavier than Boron2. Gessle 09-23-2004, 10:13 AM Hey, Is cab 21 still available in Malaysia badminton shops? To me they are nice, affordable substitutes for the MPs, and Armortecs. Simple, I definitely like them that way. I originally had a Cab20Tour SP which I bought last year. Nice all around racket. Clashed several times but still alive and kicking behinds! Currently I'm in a slump but two weeks ago, I came across prestine Cab21SPs. Strung with BG-70@18lbs!!! Bought both rackets for under 100USD (converted from Philippine Pesos to US Dollars) each. Played it the very same day I got it with the crappy-tensioned strings. Seemed promising but i didn't get excited. Got my two babies restrung using BG80@25lbs and GosenPro66@25lbs. Got to play with them today, well I just used the one strung with BG80 mainly. Played good games with it. Nice power (using Kwun's finger power). Very very controlled net shots (tight spinning net shots and smash drops). The new string livened up the racket. I'm still in a slump but with high hopes specially with the Cab21s by my side. I'll use the other Gosen-string racket next time around. :) A proud and satisfied Cab owner! kwun 01-24-2005, 04:24 PM glad to see another cab convert. :) i have been using my cab21 more and more lately. despite both being 2U weight, it feels slightly lighter than my cab20. as a result, in comparison it has a faster head speed and it cuts through the air faster. it maybe due to the weight or the slim shaft, i am not sure which, but that's how it felt. bluejeff 01-24-2005, 06:15 PM glad to see another cab convert. I feel no difference in power and control b/n the two rackets. feel and control at the net is superb. tight spinning net shots are almost effortless. clears and smashes are good. just good maybe because of my poor technique and slow footwork but when I properly get behind the shuttle this Cab packs a nice punch. baseline to baseline (forehand) lobs are very good. been working with my backhand technique with the Cab and i'm getting consistently more power. for drops the control is there but my technique is very poor so some of my drops are very high near the net area which is very very killable. both Cabs gives good feel of the shuttle being struck. nice sound too. soon i'll be standardizing all of my strings and i'm currently eyeing Gosen Pro-66. here in the Philippines, it is almost half the price of the Yonex string line. I mostly play doubles (MD and MXD) and I find the Cab fits into my game style. Not too slow nor too light that it lacks the power and punch. I can say that I can execute my shots anywhere on the court (provided my footwork doesnt fail me). Definitely best back for my undervalued peso! Brave_Turtle 03-20-2005, 06:14 PM still getting used to the Cab21SPs. Definitely best back for my undervalued peso! Totally Agree, cab21 is very cheap and yet so reliable smashmouth 06-20-2006, 05:37 AM Just got a second cab 21 sp as a spare. I just love it .... it takes my game to a higher level! malayali 09-30-2006, 08:08 AM here is an old cab21 with old logo & hence there are no serial number on it... malayali 09-30-2006, 09:37 AM ****************************** Ahlo Ahlo 09-30-2006, 11:16 PM I liked both Cab 20 and 21 very much in my old days. Cab20 is control freak. Cab21 is a good attacker. It's slim shaft makes it move much faster than Cab20, especially in double game. However, after I changed to MP88, I can't switch back to regular length - stiff oval racket anymore. tomblos007 10-04-2006, 01:35 AM i just buy new cab 21 sp yesterday n used last night , feel excellent this is my dreaming racket, power n control goes excellent no complaining about it. but i need 1 game to handle this racket coz i used mp 22 (iso-head) before. fyi. price CAB 21 sp rp.640.000/9200 about USD 70 ( incl.bag n BG66 ) CAB 21 Special Rp. 520.000/9200 -- USD 57 ( incl.bag n bg66 ) yy_ling 10-07-2006, 11:03 PM dont push it cabs not really those high tension rackets cooler 10-08-2006, 12:00 AM mp88 is a very forgiving racket so going to cab21 u may feel missing the sweet spot initially. bluejeff 10-08-2006, 10:58 PM mp88 is a very forgiving racket so going to cab21 u may feel missing the sweet spot initially.
