How come Lin Dan choose such a low-end model after SHB 98 has discontinued?

Any one tried 57C?

Maybe it's comfortable?
even if he chooses low end shoes, he's still a great player himself.. equipment means nothing.

lol the shoes make a difference, whether you can move around on the court without pain or grip..but other than that...shoes are shoes >_>...lin dan could just as easily beat any one of us with a $10 canadian tire racket :p;)

agreed so equipment is no longer an issue for him to be honest, unless he is competiting in the world circuit.

Ok, let me restate that so it is more relevant ;)

Looks like Cai Yun is using the SHB-71. This could be because

1.) Lin Dan and Cai Yun are probably part of a conspiracy to promote the low-end Yonex models as "still desirable" for those who don't want to, or can't afford, or don't fit the 91 or 100 models.

or

2.) Lin Dan and Cai Yun found out that these low-end models work just as well. They sold off their sponsored free pairs of SHB-100 for a quick buck, bought these cheapie models and pocketed the difference.

I think you have to concern a bit on how long this stock has been in the store.
As you know rubber has limited age.

i know u try to be funny but you u just revealed to us your IQ.

A multiple choice quiz, one of the below statement is true.

(A) LD and many top players use cheapy bg65 while everyone here still prefer the expensive bg80, 85, 66, nanogy 95 &98. Yonex like to use top players to promote low end string because the promotion of cheapy bg65 is a great success. LD also wear D&G too, another cheapy brand.

(B) his shb57 was auctioned for 75,000USD, a real cheapies:rolleyes:

(C) ph_leung is trying to be a comedian and failed miserably

For me, this shoe is ok.. I rather buy this more than buying apacs, pro ace or fleet. last time before I bought this, I wanna buy a pro ace cushion power with cost RM80+. Luckily I bought this yonex shoe for more comfort and long lasting(hopefully). My previous apacs cushion power show can last 1 years. See how long can this yonex last. :p

singchaii

It lighter if compare with my ex apacs shoe. The SHB57 weight is roughly just like a 1 tubes of 12 shuttles.

Its not really about low end or high end. Once your over with the "OMG I want those ones cause they look good!" its all about comfort. Its basically personal preference.

In the past, there was some difference. I tried the low-end SHB-70, SHB99, and the 99LTD. The grip was a noticeably better on the more expensive models. The other difference is the foot to floor height. The 91 and 100 are very low to the ground. The 71 and lower models feel higher.

I think that Lin Dan, Cai Yun, and the Koreans using the cheaper models show improvement from trickle-down features to the point that they're willing to use them.

pros dont need to know the trickle up or trickle down features of their equips, all their stuffs are free. They don't need to analyze the incremental cost versus benefits of their equipments unlike cost sensitive people like u. They use what feels good.

I'm fairly sure we're agreeing on the same thing here --- that the pros will use whatever they can get that feels most comfortable but not put them at a disadvantage. I never said that the pros know about trickle effect. For example, I didn't see them using the old SHB-70ex. I had the 70ex and the lack of grip cause some ankle problems for me. The grip of the new 71 is better than the 70ex.

I *do* analyze the heck out of all my badminton equipment and as someone who was brought up in a "cost sensitive" family, I'm still on the look-out for a good deal. My current SHB-71 was chosen because I've got wide feet. Although they sit lower to the ground and look nice, the SHB-91,100,100LTD dig into the sides.

Just bought a pair of SHB-57 SP from Sunrise showroom. I called Sunrise Singapore trying my luck after reading about the shoe from this thread. They sent two pairs in different sizes to the Far East Plaza showroom in Singapore. Surprise, surprise.....I got it for only SGD 39.50 (USD26.30). I am going to test drive it this Saturday.

Saw the SHB-71 which is on sales for SGD 69. Looks like a good deal too. But the SHB 200 is way nice!! Also saw two new Yonex low end rackets. Isometric Alpha and Z. Noticed it was not on the Yonex site. The gentleman at the shop claimed it is a Taiwanese model. The racket is made in Taiwan.
