Again, Indonesia represented in 4 matches, but I doubt that they can bring the title home more than 2. The biggest opportunity come from Frans/Rendra, and probably Meiliana/Shendy. Andre will try to grab his first title this year, but Anand Chetan IMO is too strong for him.....Anyway, the results in Europe Tournaments are quite good. They can enter 3 consecutive final.
For Frans/Rendra and Meiliana/Shendy, I think they must participate in SS, not only GP Gold or below...

Anand is the forth Indian player that Andre has to play against in this tournament. He should be able to figure out the unique Indian style of play that stretched him in early rounds.

If the game goes to 3 sets, Andre has a good chance to win.

Based on the time-table, starting from 12:00pm local time (6pm HKG time).

MIXED DOUBLES
Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen vs Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati [3] -- this will be Fran/Shendy's last tourney before they are officially back to Pelatnas yet again. A first GP title will surely increase Ko Aryono and Richard Mainaky's confidence on the pair. However, I think the Danes have a slight edge. Let's see....

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Yao Jie [1] vs Linda Zechiri -- Yao to win in her home tourney!

MEN'S SINGLES
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [3] vs Chetan Anand [6] -- yup...the 4th Indian player that Andre faces this week and I think Andre has an edge!

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Lena Frier-Kristensen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl vs Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati [2] -- the third Finals for Mel/Shendy....will this be the third time unlucky? The last these 2 pairs met, Mel/Shendy lost in rubber-sets, after losing the second set 22-24.

MEN'S DOUBLES
Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya [1] vs Rupesh Kumar/Thomas Sanave -- a repeat of last week's SF and I think Fran/Rendra can end their partnership with a title today! Rendra will be paired with Alvent Yulianto after he returns to Pelatnas, while Fran will be focussing on XD with Shendy.

The Danes were playing with more urgency and aggression. The Indonesians were never in the match. Joachim played very well while Fran made too many unforced errors today as Fran was shouting in frustration at one point in the 2nd game.

Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati and Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati should be competing in the Hong Kong Super Series next month, after they rejoin Pelatnas. Meanwhile, Rendra Wijaya/Alvent Yulianto will be in the KLRC New Zealand Open GP with the other second-stringers like Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie.

Maybe Fran wants to reserve his energy for his MD match later on. The INA pair should win that one though. The XD match was always tough from the start and once the odds went to DEN, Fran and Shendy should be smart enough not to use all their energies :o

With 2 runner-ups from the European tourneys, Fran/Shendy will be in Pelatnas and hopefully get a different training perhaps from Ko Aryono and Richard Mainaky.

Luckily, Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya kept their cool and won the last 3 pts of the match to seal the match 21-18, 21-18. I think better Andre is staying at Djarum than back to Pelatnas. He can get more experience since he sent to many international tournaments. In Pelatnas he must compete with Tommy, Alamsyah, and many young players who need more experience as well. Next week, his world ranking will become 14th or 15th, and become a champion at Dutch Open has proved that he also good to become top ten player.

Good analysis though. He is currently at place 5 or something like that in Indonisia, and when he is going back to the national traingscentre, 'big names' will get more attention. He should stay at Djarum and continue his practise like he has done the past year, where he greatly improved.

He was a member of Pelatnas twice already... :p got dropped from the National Team twice too... :p Somehow, the Pelatnas guys don't see the potential of Andre... :o They have a different judgement call... :o

When Andre was in Pelatnas, he was sent to VERY tough tournaments like the GP Gold and Super Series level type tournaments... but his skills were not ready to compete well in those tough tournaments... so... he got defeated in the qualifying rounds many times... :o That became the National Team's basis to drop him from the National Team... :o

Djarum choose to concentrate building the confidence and match-playing-experience of the young players by sending them to International Series, then International Challenge, then GP level championships first...

Sadly, that's not how the Pelatnas coaches see things :o They prefer to throw their players into the shark pits immediately...sigh....what a waste of money really :o Their massive withdrawals (which could be avoided with proper thought and planning) from the Dutch Open and Denmark SS resulted in thousands of US$ of penalties.

I have to say that the Djarum coaches and managers are better in their tournament planning for their players. It's seldom that they will return back empty-handed if they send players to compete in Europe. In this 3 weeks European tour, Djarum players return home with 3 titles, 7 runner-up spots and a couple of bronze medals too last week.

Taufik was in my badminton court earlier this week, on Wednesday. I specifically asked him whether he plans to retire anytime soon.

Yeah even though they didn't get as many titles as we wanted them to get... at least they get decent BWF ranking points... :p Oh, about the 7 runner-up spots... well... the results were sort of fair... Our INA players are mostly seeded 2 or 3 or 4 in these last three Euro-GPs... :p

..5 for 5!..is this your first ever perfect Finals prediction??..If so, i think this should add rapport to your resume in becoming PBSI's head/director of tournament planning (should Krisna decide to run for PBSI's Chairman)..;)

badMania is an awesome predictor... but somehow his PAW games are not great... :p

Hahaha....I like the high odds occassionally and doesn't trust my instinct :o:p Hey, I won 3 PAW tournaments (last time was Russian Open GP Gold last year) and finished 2nd or 3rd just a couple of weeks ago!

Fran Kurniawan was the big winner, with 1 title and 1 Silver (with Rendra Wijaya) and 2 Silvers with Shendy Puspa Irawati. Andre Kurniawan Tedjono will jump to top 16-17 (which will do him good for the HK SS draw next mth) with his 1 title and 1 bronze. Fran/Shendy should also jump to the top 13-14 with 2 silvers. Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati will jump up a couple of spots as well, although they finished with 3 silvers overall :o Rendra/Mel also won a Bronze last week. Not sure if they did receive bronze medals for SF finishes in the Bitburger and Dutch Opens too....

The biggest jump in ranking probably comes from Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka and Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari. Hayom managed to finish at least R16 in 2 events, while I have to say I am very impressed with Pipin's achievements....finishing at least QF in all 3 events and even won a Silver! Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto was quite stable with 2 QF finishes in the past 2 weeks, losing to better oppositions on both occassions. On the other hand, Maria Elfira Christina was less shiny this time round....while Maria Febe Kusmastuti had her fair share by winning the title in the Bitburger Open.

INA won 2 titles yesterday through MS (Andre K.Tedjono) and MD (Fran/Rendra), much better outcome than Bulgarian Open GP. What a right strategy that Djarum players will miss next 2 SS tourneys in Europe where top-names will come to Odense and Paris, certainly chance to produce good result become slimmer than GP tournaments.
