Hi all,

I just wish to share something very exciting that has been offered to me, and i am over the moon with it. This saturday, my coach told me that the Badminton Association of England would like me to take a junior training course up at the national badminton centre at Milton Keynes. It is aimed at people who have promising talent and who play at a high standard. It involves 4 days training with the top elite players of the United Kingdom at one of the best places in the world. At a reduced price (because i was invited) i get food, 4 days training and accomodation.
Once i get my badge and certificate, i will then be able to take on groups of children and beginners (adults too). I will then be able to make money from what i love to do most. This badge enables me to coach, and is well known throughout the world as a special badge to have. I just thought i would share this with you.

Cool.. so this course is for your badge certifcate thingy? Or is it just training? Oh yea.. just wondering... do coaches who coach pros make more money then the pro players?

Not bad... 4 days of badminton food and training ... nice vacation... :D

That's a result, Matt. Well done - the hard work pays off. I hope that your exams results come back favourable next month, too.

Congratulations on getting in but I am slightly unclear on your decriptions:

It sounds like you are on a training course to improve your own standard. Is that right?
If so, how does that allow you to teach children/beginners without formally undergoing BAofE level one coaching certificate? Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression the BAofE coaching certificate needed to be gained over a series of weekends. 4 days seems a bit cramped for your own training needs and learning how to coach.

From my experience, teaching children is even harder than teaching adults as children have a very short attention span. It is a skill that needs to be acquired - perhaps taking more time than a few days....

Cheung and others,

Sorry to make myself unclear. It is training to BECOME a badminton coach, like how to handle situations, one to one where you try and describe a shot etc. Certain beginners drills that will enable them to get better etc..

Congratulations! That's quite an honor--to be invited by your Association.
