dun get pesimistic..we'll see if maria can overcome this obstacle..
btw.she is already lost three in a row after OG (China Masters, Denmark, French)..always in a straight set and tight score to win, and also the match is tiring too both bcoz after the match Lu Lan always lost..
and Dun Forget that maria will fund herself to this competition since there's no fund from PBSI. so she will surely have much more motivation to win.

PB Djarum will fund its Pelatnas players: Maria Kristin Yulianti, Mohd Rijal, and Mohd Ahsan. Vita Marissa and Bona Septano will fund themselves to HKG.
Besides, all other PB Djarum's players like Andre Kurniawan Tedjono, Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka, Maria Febe Kusumastuti and Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari are as usual funded by their club.

Agree with Sandy, except for Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir, almost every player/player will have tough matches to play starting from first day.Vita/Butet should progress to SF where they will entertain Du Jing/Yu Yang.
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir should also progress to QF where they will then face the pairs who have beaten them recently: Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen (QF) and Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg (SF). Mohd Rijal/Vita Marissa have a hellish draw as they meet the second-seed He Hanbin/Yu Yang straight-away in R32.
Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki have a tough route to QF as they will first face Chan Chong Ming/Chew Choon Eng, followed by their nemesis Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen. Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan will face Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong as early as the first match.

We can also see this as a hellish draw for He Hanbin-Yu Yang... ;) They won't look forward to meet the 2008 Japan Open XD champion in the first round either... :p

Rian-Yoke will defeat Boe-Mogensen one of these days... Hopefully as early as this 2008 HK Open SS... We're going to have fun watching them together, badMania... :D

Well, Japan SS winner vs OG bronze medalist? 49:51, if I may say.
As for Bona/Ahsan, they had what it takes to beat Fairuz/Zakry (virtually MAS current MD #2). TO win over Koo/Tan? Tough task indeed, but not impossible... ;)
Have more confidence in our shuttlers, will ya?:)

Now, there's news that Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan will be defending their title in the Hong Kong Super Series :) But, they are going to negotiate a very very tough draw comprising of possibly 4 MAS pairs if they are to reach the Final again.
R32 vs Hong Chieng Hun/Ng Kean Kok -- reasonable opening match.
R16 vs possibly Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah -- they have not met Choong/Lee for a year now....should be interesting.
QF vs Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong or Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan -- another match with Koo/Tan should be interesting.
SF vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif or Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya -- again, not easy.
F vs Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae or Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun or Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen or Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki -- a meeting with Jung/Lee will be a cracking Final!

Yeah well, Markis/Hendra had the same problem with one pair before, now they've beaten that pair twice in a row where it mattered. So Rian/Yoke should take that as, ahem, divine inspiration. :)
