madbad 11-14-2008, 06:45 PM Looks potentially like a huge day for TPE. Not unrealistic for them to bag 3 titles (1 for sure)

adelina76 11-15-2008, 03:25 AM Hi guys,
Had a quick word with Zhou Mi..quick for 2 reasons..she had other media commitments to attend to including taking pics and signing autographs for fans, and the other reason for it being quick..."lost in translation" issue. Unfortunately, I can't speak Mandarin very well so had to get my friend to help translate! :P
Ok, asked her 2 questions. First, does she think she'll be the first Final Super Series Women's Champion? A bit strange but she said these days, she doesn't enter tournaments concentrating to win but more for the enjoyment of the sport really.
2nd Question: Why is she not playing for China and instead play for Hong Kong? It wasn't her who had the choice of who to play for but China didn't want her anymore because they wanted to make place for back up players. But she still loved the sport so much and playing for Hong Kong gave her the opportunity to keep playing the game she loves so much and so she went there.
I was going to ask what about Zhang Ning but got interrupted by her fans who wanted photos with her etc so I let that one go.
Had a brief chat with Sairul just before his game with Tsun Seng. Asked if he was nervous and whether he had heard about the Star newspaper saying that this is his best chance to win his first tournament for the year? He said not at all and he was just going to try his best to win. Also asked if all KLRC players (from different countries) all travel together since they're all part of KLRC, he said no, players still travel with their own countrymen to tournaments. It did seem like a "big happy family" affair though as all KLRC people from different countries seem to know each other well, shared a joke or two etc.
It was a good tournament...might put up some photos! :P

phaarix 11-15-2008, 06:06 AM Womens Singles, haha nice one :D.
badMania 11-15-2008, 07:22 AM Too bad, Edo/Lingga lost in the Final to the TPE pair. Back to training and hopefully they can reach at least QF in the Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open GP to be held after the Hong Kong SS.
jhirata 11-15-2008, 06:36 PM Kurniawan and Lingga lost their energetic spirit once the TPE pair started to get louder than them..
Joe P 11-16-2008, 06:24 PM I think the 'fault receiver' at game point really unsettled the Indonesian pair. They just didn't look anywhere near as determined in the second game; not that the Taiwanese pair gave them any chance to do that.
Joe P.
Joe P 11-16-2008, 06:25 PM It's always nice to put a face to a name Adelina, I'm the guy with the tripod and handicam sitting 3 seats away to your left. :)
jhirata 11-16-2008, 06:32 PM Joe, did you see me ? I tried spotting all the BC members.. I failed.
adelina76 11-16-2008, 06:43 PM It's always nice to put a face to a name Adelina, I'm the guy with the tripod and handicam sitting 3 seats away to your left. :)
Ahh, I think I know which one you are Joe. We must do better next year and do a BC Banner! :) I might even play in next year's open if I can get my A into G and train properly...sigh.
Kwun, I'll wear badminton outfit that shows BC on it if you would like to sponsor me for next year, :D
chris-ccc 11-16-2008, 06:59 PM Had a quick word with Zhou Mi...

adelina76 ... Thank you for asking Zhou Mi the questions for us.
It's great to know that she's enjoying her Badminton. :):):)
And thank you for the photos too.
:):):)
.
chris-ccc 11-16-2008, 07:07 PM Joe, did you see me ? I tried spotting all the BC members.. I failed.
.
jhirata ... Yes, you BCers going to the tournament have forgotten to create a thread to gather our BCers together.
.
chris-ccc 11-16-2008, 07:14 PM Kwun, I'll wear badminton outfit that shows BC on it if you would like to sponsor me for next year, :D
.
Looking forward to one day when BC can do what KLRC is doing now...
that is, sponsoring players at International Tournaments.
:):):)
.
badMania 11-16-2008, 07:16 PM I think the 'fault receiver' at game point really unsettled the Indonesian pair. They just didn't look anywhere near as determined in the second game; not that the Taiwanese pair gave them any chance to do that.
Plus no coach accompanying them :o The presence of a coach will certainly help to change tactics in the second set.
jhirata 11-16-2008, 07:23 PM Oh well, there's always next year and the year after that. Or maybe I'll be playing in it.
Joe P 11-16-2008, 08:40 PM Joe, did you see me ? I tried spotting all the BC members.. I failed.
Indeed I did, actually a few of my friends (Andrew and Andre) pointed you out to me :D
As soon as I can free up some time I'll get on to encoding the footage I've got and upload them. Problem is I've got 2 toddlers which take up most of my time. :)
Joe P.
Joe P 11-16-2008, 08:44 PM Ahh, I think I know which one you are Joe. We must do better next year and do a BC Banner! :) I might even play in next year's open if I can get my A into G and train properly...sigh.
Kwun, I'll wear badminton outfit that shows BC on it if you would like to sponsor me for next year, :D
Yup, I second that sponsorship idea kwun. :P
Looking forward to next year's tournament!
jhirata 11-16-2008, 08:44 PM Oh.. Andrew.. haha yaeh okay. I don't know who Andre is though. You're from IBNZ then, am I right ?
Joe P 11-16-2008, 08:49 PM I was in their first year. I used to play reps back in my high school days; Jo Hindley, Rachel's older sister was my mixed partner back then.
Now I'm married with children, so I take any badminton I can get gratefully. :)
If anyone is wanting a game of singles, I'm your man!
jhirata 11-16-2008, 09:01 PM Oh wow.. what grade do you play though ?
Joe P 11-16-2008, 09:10 PM I'm A/B at the beginning of the year after all the meals and hollidays, but by mid-year, provided I get enough games, I'll be an A :D
jhirata 11-16-2008, 09:23 PM Oh dear. Too hardcore for me, I'm only C-grade at MUBC.. At least I won Closed champs MS C-grade but oh well..
Joe P 11-16-2008, 09:32 PM MUBC eh? I was a committee there a couple of years ago, still a member though... just don't seem to have enough time these days for club days.
Next year I'm planning to play more, possibly back into reps if all goes according to plan.
I'm always keen for a game though, we can get a bunch of people together and just play for a couple of hours over the weekend.
jhirata 11-16-2008, 09:42 PM Oh yes, sure. No MUBC for a few weeks because of exams.. how lame. I need to play more :P..
We should have a BCBF meet-up at KLRC NZ OPEN next year too..
ctjcad 11-18-2008, 02:25 AM I will try and interview Zhou Mi, Sairul and Tsun Seng on behalf of Badminton Central. (Hope this is ok with you Kwun :P)
If I do get a chance to speak to them, any particular burning questions you guys want answered by these 3, especially if you're big fans? This is your chance now! :P
..the long lost voice for NZ-based BCer, who only shows up here to post when there's a tourney in NZ...:p;).....Are you still volunteering with badzine??..
Actually i was planning to ask a question, but it's too late now...:p
Btw, as always very cool & thanks for the quick report and pics!
