View Full Version : New Winex Badminton Shoes
Winex West Can 07-19-2002, 02:28 AM Winex is in the process of releasing a new shoe model. I haven't got too much details yet but will be getting a pair for evaluation (pretty good timing as I was in the market for another pair of badminton shoes) :D :D
The new model is CF-909 Thunder Bird. According to the info, the shoe is manufactured in China in a factory which is also the OEM for Nike, Yonex and Reebok.

The orange part of the sole looks like CHEESE!!....:p
But if the price is right, I wouldn't mind buying a pair to try them out.

Nothing against any women posters here on BC. That is the direct translation from Cantonese to English.

Dont know blue = horny, and never knew chinese indicates any blue colors as HP blue. I know pink does.
Winex West Can 07-19-2002, 03:17 PM I don't know how much the shoes will be selling for as it is brand new and I just got this as an advanced notification.
Didn't know that the blue used is being referred to as "horny woman" blue. I thought the colours are pretty nice.
Zero, you are right, the yellow/orange parts of the sole looks like swiss cheese :D
They are available in all sizes and for both men and women.
"how por" blue
That's a HK slang, but it accurately describes the color! As soon as one says it, everybody would immediately know what color one is talking about!

The blue is a lot darker than the one shown in the pictures. I am also waiting for more information on the materials used and the shoes are pretty light.
This is what I have been told so far. The shoes are manufactured by the same factory that did Nike, Reebok and Yonex. The sole pattern is from Yonex (no patent) and is supplied by the factory.
The shoes are supposed to be comparable to the Yonex SHB-80
Reynar 09-13-2002, 12:04 PM Pretty nice shoes. Especially if the actual blue is a little darker. I wish I knew somewhere that sold Winex shoes here in Toronto. I am guessing that they'd be cheaper than Yonex shoes.
Winex West Can 09-13-2002, 01:27 PM Shoes are a little more difficult to distribute as the sizes varies. If there are enough interest for the folks in Canada, I might be able to special order the shoes with the proper sizes.

Hopefully before too long, there will be a retailer in Toronto who will be carrying the Winex line of products.

Jennifer gets her stock from Hong Kong and is not an authorized Winex retailer and as such the warranty on the racquets is not recognized within Canada.

Manufacturer's warranty on the racquets is quite standard. Six months against manufacturer's defects.

ok guys... let's send someone to Taiwan and grab some of those nice shoes and winex racket. I know Taiwan sells winex in a very decent price :D

I am posting this here as well on badminton central under review just to complete this post.
I have had the shoes for over a month now (around 5 weeks).
Quality - the workmanship and quality of the shoes on initial inspection seems to be very good. Nothing that would stands out as being sloppy (e.g. stitching not straight, incomplete, etc). The top is made up of two materials, leather and the breathable canvass/mesh material. The insole is foam-based with a gel like substance underneath the heel area. The sole is rubber backed onto a layer of carbon fibres (similar to Yonex SHB-80).
Support - initially I was uncomfortable with the low cut (was wearing a mid cut shoes previously) but have since then gotten used to the low cut feeling. Support of the feet is pretty good. The ankle support is quite stiff and the toes (sides) are nice and firm.
Performance - grip on floor is pretty nice although I have found some gyms slippery because of the dust. Have to wipe the soles on a wet towel to retain the grip on those floors.
Overall - i like the shoes.

That's not bad. What i heard from stores that sell yonex give 30 to 90 days warranty.

Well, they are not available at any stores yet as it is quite cumbersome and expensive to import the shoes (need to carry different sizes, colours, etc plus big duty on shoes/clothing ~ 20%).
As for the pricing, it should retail around CAD$70-80/pair (taxes not included).

For those of you who are interested in a pair of these Winex badminton shoes, I can tell you that I should be able to place an order for them. It will take approximately 8 weeks to get them in by ship.
The price for each pair will be US$50 or CAD$80 (inclusive) which includes shipping charges; taxes and duty. Duty is approx. 20% on shoes. Shipping charges are only valid for N. America.
Comparable retail prices for Yonex are US$75 (or CAD$135) not inluding shipping and taxes.
