badMania was right after all... 2 titles for INA and a rubber set win from Mel-Shendy... After collecting 5 silvers from 3 GP tournaments in Europe, at last Shendy got 2 golds from this GP! :)

Yup, double joy for Shendy to grab 2 titles! The surprising result is WS match when lesser known player Zhang Beiwen won over her compatriot Xing Aiying in rubber games.

Vietnam proves to be yet another happy hunting ground for Team INA as they collected another 2 titles this year, incidentally the same WD and XD titles like last year. This time round, Shendy Puspa Irawati won 2 GP titles....one with her regular WD partner Meiliana Jauhari and confirmed their status as INA's no 2 WD pair. They will also rise one spot up next week, to no 11. If they are reach the top 10 status by Korea Super Series next year, they have to enter at least the QF in one of the SS event. With the likely absence of CHN players in both events, I think Mel/Shendy should be seeded among the top 8.

Shendy also won the XD title with an "incidental" partner, Tantowi Akhmad. Poor Fran Kurniawan...this XD title is supposed to be his first one with Shendy.....:rolleyes:

Well, i guess it's too early to say Shendy/Meiliana is INA's 2nd best WD pair bcoz they are "under the radar" of PBSI (Indonesian Badminton Federation) who likely pointed new combination, Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari as their 2nd WD pair after Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir.
It's obvious the fact that Shendy/Meiliana can participate in tourneys by their club initiative and sponsorship, Djarum. That explained a lot why they only compete at Indonesia and Malaysia Super Series this year instead of other WD pairs of PBSI's projection. It's amazing to see they can reach #12 in the rank this time afterall. Hope they will go higher and prove to PBSI bout their status and achievement!

Congrats Shendy/Meiliana for Vietnam Open title to close 2008 on a high note!
