A nice mix of Pelatnas second-stringers plus potential first-team players. It's important for Andreas Adityawarman, Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie, and Nitya Krishinda/Nadya Melati to do well here (esp the first two as Nitya/Nadya are split already for regular tourney).

Adit must face opponents like Chong Wei Feng and Pakkawat Villailak, while Edo/Lingga also have fellow upcoming MAS pair like Mohd Razif Abdul Latif/Tan Wee Kiong to contend with.

Is the funding for this sponsored by KONI? I asumme it is since it's a multi-sport event, similar to the World University Games earlier this year.

I believe that Jane David (JD) n Fitri Marsiam are university students at Universitas Tarumanegara (Untar). As for the others, I am not too sure.

Actually I'm surprised that full-time national players are included. I must admit that I'm not sure of the rules but if the name of the competition is as true as it is stated, then one has to assume that participants must be currently studying in a university. Or am I missing something? :rolleyes:

Despite the 'thrashing' our students encountered, I think they have acquitted themselves quite well judging from the scores. They don't get duck's egg and I thought at less one match stretched to the rubber. ;)

1. ELIGIBILITY

1.1 Only a national university sports organization, or any national organization that is responsible for university sports in ASEAN countries, is eligible to present its nation at the 14th ASEAN University Games - 2008.

1.2 Only the followings shall participate as competitors in the 14th ASEAN University Games - 2008.

a. Students who have officially registered for and are taking a full time studying course at a university or institute which functions as a university and is recognized by the appropriate national academic authority of their country. They must be citizens of the nation.

b. Former students of the institutions mentioned in the above article who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event.

c. Only undergraduate students whose origins are of ASEAN countries are eligible to participate.

d. The players of the ages from 18 to 28 (January 1st in the year of the event is the date for age consideration).

1.3 Only those who are amateurs according to the rules laid down by the ASEAN University Sports Council and in accordance with the IOC Amateur Code can compete in the events of 14th ASEAN University Games.

1.4 Each country may enter one (1) competitor per event

Thailand could not play team event as they only have 6 players...I believe that the organizer mentioned that team event needs 7 players minimum...too bad for Thailand

Fransiska Ratnasari (aka Nana) is unbeaten this week. It will mark an excellent week and perhaps a comeback from her if she can win the Gold Medal tomorrow by beating Julia Wong Pei Xian, whom she has beaten 2 days earlier in the Team Event Final. Let's see.

Meanwhile, Andreas Adityawarman continues his good run as he will face another rising MAS star Mohd Arif Latif, after beating Chong Wei Feng in rubber-sets today. I think Adit has a good chance also.

It should be an explosive match, perhaps to the wire again between Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie and Mohd Razif Abdul Latif/Tan Wee Kiong in the MD Final. I hope Edo/Lingga can avenge their narrow defeat 2 days ago and win the Gold Medal to make up for the disappointment of not going to the India Int Challenge.

i feel that 2moro WS between Fransisca and Julia will be 50-50. Fransisca 2day have to use all her experience to beat Lydia Cheah. If Lydia Cheah has been more consistence the game could be different but anyway congrats, to Fransisca for making inyo the final

Yes, Ma'am. I admire MAS current batch of juniors. Now they've proven that they're not lagging behind their older bros/sis. They showed that they can get titles too. Very bright future awaits them.

Well done to MAS juniors........white washing the INA and other teams....taking all the golds..........anyway,...credits also goes to INA juniors...for their well performances.........Including Nana....a semi senior i think...!



Psst : I think U have forgoten,....Mas only send mostly their 2nd and 3rd liners to previous SEA Game..only WPT in WD and XD..in Korat.....while INA sent their full 1st National team there..........:D
