Well, staying in the city area is definitely not going to be cheap, but it'll be convenient going to the stadium from there. Like what sporty says, you'll have to let us know your budget before we can help you out.
why not stay in the same hotel as the players?

Pan Pac is super expensive!!! I feel that it is at least. Haha.
Well Nick if you can afford it and it's well within your budget, by all means. ;) It's easy getting around from there and there're lots you can do in your free time.
It's real fun staying in the same hotel as the players. You see them in their most relaxed selves, and you get to find out who they hang out with among themselves. :p
hmmm say a maximum of 100 singapore dollars? Something that isn't too far from the indoor stadium.

So u are coming for the semifinal and final.. not for the whole week is it?? ok.. then i'll ask my fren the number of this place.... so is it ok?? cos orchard is not that near to the stdium.. but there is straight bus to go there... it will be for more than one people to share the place... usually indonesian who come to singapore stays there.. esp those who stays for not so long period...
i'll keep it as an option. Is it a hostel? or is it a private room?

Haha, seems like Ah-Pua has beaten me to it. I was just going to recommend the YMCA, but with another link here (http://www.asiatravel.com/singapore/ymca/index.html).
I think this is pretty reasonable, and yes it takes probably 15 minutes by bus no.16 to reach the stadium from here. And the bus stops right in front of the building on the way back from the stadium. ;)
