i just got this RSL standard shuttle, and it has the bottom few fibres of each feather glued... it's heavier than normal, but with the bottom fibres glued, would it be stronger/last longer? most other shuttle's I've played with the fibres are all non-glued. I tried hitting this shuttle up and down (about 1m in height), and it twists/turns/spins much more than another non-glued one, so the balance is totally different.
Any other shuttles glue the bottom fibres? i didn't really notice it until i starting fixing up the feathers during practice, i felt it was quite hard near the bottom of the fibres.
how much of it is glued? about 2-3mm? or more? do you have a picture?

The first 1cm of fibres (used ruler) are glued...this is measuring the 'pillar' of the feather, which holds all the fibres together...sorry don't have a picture..... i've never seen it on any shuttles that i've played with before, and as I said before, the balance is very different (the cork doesn't 'turn' back down as fast as others, as there is more weight to the 'feather' side of the shuttle than other shuttles.
AhNgaU,
Maybe your tube was part of a bad-produced batch of shuttlecocks.
Once i had some Victor Champion Tubes with too much glue. Like you described, the shuttles were heavier. Also, after a few smashes, the shuttle became bad very fast.
Tubes that came from a later batch were fine.
Good chance when you buy another tube of the same brand that they will be fine.
For the club where i play, I buy and stock feather shuttles. The batch on itself is mostly very consistent, all same condition. But between batches, sometimes they smell a bit weird, or are just older (dry) than usual.
