Malaysia Open 2009: Day 5 (Semi-Finals) Saturday January 10
...people and some BCers were screaming non-stop off the top of their lungs during the last match of the night(Quarter-Finals)...So, i figured it must've been one heck of a match...
Btw, i haven't seen the new MO Semifinals thread created, yet...Is the excitement over??..
dont think its over.. maybe the excitement just reduced...
To some, the excitement has just begun. To me, the qualifiers have done their best.
I was hoping badMania would start this thread and to give the match analysis for us.

Men's Doubles
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra -- the top-seed to take this one to set up a clash with Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae in the Final.
Women's Doubles
Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen [5] vs Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati [8] -- Mel/Shendy's performance have exceeded expectation. It will be a major bonus if they can beat the Chinese pair.
Mixed Doubles
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen -- the Danish pair is on roll since late last year and it will be difficult for Nova/Butet to beat them. I hope the INA pair can prove me wrong.

Seriously, I thought you'll cast MK/HS as the loser this time. I know I would....Hendra/Alvent has been quite solid so far.

Li Mao is warming up his new star player, PSH.
I am seated alone on the upper tier, on top of tv cams, reporters and commentators.
Now for the predictions:
XD:
Fischer Nielsen/Pedersen over Nova/Lily - Danes are in better form but Hauge is confident Nova/Lily will pull through
Lee/Lee over Sudket/Saralee - Oympic gold means something, you know
WS:
WC over TR - Wang Chen is better at getting out of trouble
ZM over PHY - Pi will be much too exhausted to give a decent fight
MS:
PSH over HYH - probable 3 gamer with Park's superior fitness deciding the outcome
LCW over Gade - 3rd meeting in less than a month, outcome will be the same
WD:
YW/ZJW over MJ/SPI - totally different class, these two pairs.
LKW/LHJ over CYC/CWH - Koreans the better of the two dormant pairs
MD:
MK/HS over AYC/HG - Kido's injury won't stop them trying to defend their title
LYD/JJS over NR/AC - Koreans to win but English pair might give them some trouble

As expected, Gade was not able to keep pace with Chong Wei on game 3, however, give credit to Gade for playing one of his better games. Congratulation to Chong Wei, though lost game 1 able to stay focus and execute the right strategy. Lets hope the MS final is as explosive as this one.

Whenever Peter Gade plays LCW it looks like he feels he needs to make miracle shots to win the rally. And he makes lots of errors because of that... Whenever Peter plays lower ranked players he's far more consistent with his shots.

Not a surprise, actually. Kido hasn't been moving well and stays more at frontcourt these past few days.

Is normal to play "out of ordinary" against player better than you, I am not talking about skill rather speed and endurance. If Peter play his normal game then the chance he beat Chong Wei is not high so he has to make every shot tighter hence higher errors(similar to Chong Wei against Lin Dan) ... Peter had to take this risk and almost work.

Yeah that's right. It's interesting to see how even the very top players really struggle against certain people. The way Lee Chong Wei plays is really effective against PG. It must take a lot of courage to play against someone who just keeps getting the shuttle back no matter what you throw at them.

And her backcourt coverage is lacking.

Of course I'm not necessarily trying to get at any one country in particular. Yes I have seen it happen in other countries too (and Malaysia usually isn't so bad, it's just something I noticed in both this match and the Super Series Finals). I think it's all well and good to be one sided if it's your local player on court, but it's nice to give a polite clap to the other player when they make a good shot! Rather than deathly silence. I know they're all just excited to see their own player win, but the crowd should be good sports too :o.

Kakak, they did, but not to the players directly. Instead terrible remarks were hurled towards Rexy, whom as a chief coach chooses to stand on the grand stand near the entrance rather than to sit on the coaches seats for such a crucial match. The group of supporters were totally furious, shouting how unprofessional can Rexy be etc etc, for whatever short coming between him and the players (KKK/TBH), he has a job to do and his responsibility to the fans.
