I'm a bit confused.

I was under the impression a badminton court is a fixed size.
How come then, nets come in a range of lengths?

I don't know whether to get 6.1m, 6.7m, or 7.3m long nets - am I going to have to send someone to measure the courts first?

Kind of related - does anyone know who are the better manufacturers of net posts?

Do they generally come in pairs? I really only need one (to replace a broken one), but obviously a single post isn't a lot of use to most people. The amount they seem to cost, it'd better be for a pair.

A court is 6.1 metres wide. I'm keen to know why there is a 7.3m long one. Perhaps that is the length of the cord.

i think its designed to be put on a court so that the net overlaps the lines.

I agree with you on that. I just can't think why you'd want a net like that when the standard net width does the job.

Not too sure which lines you mean but the different net lengths are to cater for those fixed net posts which may vary in distance from the sidelines. For weighted posts, they are mobile so any length net will generally work.

Could the longer nets be used for outdoor courts ? For example in Singapore, amongst the public housing, there's normally a multi-purpose court which can be used for sepak takraw (kicking a cane ball) and badminton. Both sports actually have the same dimensions for their court but I can't remember if the pole are set wider apart than 6.1m.

I wouldn't think they'd be selling them in UK if that were the reason - maybe indoor volleyball though?

Anyway, thanks guys - 6.1m it is :)
