View Full Version : arcsaber 10 strings broke
Serpentstrike 01-24-2009, 02:06 AM I got my brand new arcsaber 10 and only two matches in the strings broke. Central sports will restring for free. At the moment it is nanogy 95 but obviously something went wrong for them to break so easily! What should I replace it with? I want something that will last a while. The choice is nanogy 95, bg65ti or bg85ti. What do u think? Most important to me is durability.
Danstevens 01-24-2009, 09:01 AM BG-65Ti and BG-85Ti will both be much more durable than NBG-95 but most people hate them. I haven't tried 85Ti but I love 65Ti. However, not many people do, you might want to try a racket strung with Yonex Ti strings before you buy. If you don't like them, there's no point in their durability because you'll want to cut them.
Athelete1234 01-24-2009, 03:52 PM 85ti?? I thought there was only bg 65ti, 68ti, 75ti, and 88ti (75 and 88 are rare japan-only strings I think)
Are you sure you got the right name?
mhigham 01-24-2009, 03:56 PM Serpent - you aren't from Edinburgh are you?
Guy I play with on a Tuesday evening had string snap on his Arc10 after only a couple of games, and didn't look like a mishit.
Wonder how much care the Yonex stringers take - this seems to happen too much
LazyBuddy 01-24-2009, 03:56 PM I assume they meant to be 68Ti, as 88Ti is rarely available in western market.
N95's durability is never an issue, at least, much better than 80 or 85. I think the incident has more to do with the stringer or the process, rather than the string type in general. If you like the N95 performance, then stick with it. ;)
dunmaster 01-24-2009, 05:01 PM if the string broke around the grommet, it's a stringer's issue. I highly think that's the problem. nanogy 95 should be pretty durable.
mhigham 01-24-2009, 05:05 PM the one I saw broke at the grommet. I was just about to say to the player that his smash + that racket wasn't fair on the opponent when I saw the string.
Sadly it seems to be the case that the more expensive the item, the more fragile it can be.
jymbalaya 01-24-2009, 05:13 PM well. the best bet is to replace the grommets, and maybe get some string protectors or MP grommets to apply around the frame. it helps with string durability.

This is a very wise person :D

My coach has just come back with a new Arc 10 for me and I was amazed to find it tied off on the OUTSIDE of the frame (there was another knot on the inside, I should add).
So, in response to mhigham's musing - not much. If I weren't going to restring it immediately myself I might be quite cross:).
Serpentstrike 01-26-2009, 03:23 AM Nah I'm not from Edinburgh, must be a coincidence! I sent it back to central sports and asked them to restring with the default strings, which I think is 65ti. I used those strings on my mp99 and got on well with them. I just hope my Arcsaber is as nice after the restring as it was for the 10 mins or so I got to play with it!

Serpentstrike ... What important information missing in your post is your string tension. The higher the string tension, the lower the string durability.

Unfortunately there was no information on what tension they strung it too...would definitely have been useful information! I told them to restring it to the default tension for the racket, i.e. the tension it comes from yonex with. Hopefully I'll still like the racket as much with the default strings...!
Danstevens 01-26-2009, 09:28 AM 85ti?? I thought there was only bg 65ti, 68ti, 75ti, and 88ti (75 and 88 are rare japan-only strings I think)

I was wondering that but the OP seems to thing it exists and so do the people here (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6363). It would make sense (sort of) though as we'd have BG-65Ti 68Ti, 85Ti and 88Ti (but no 78Ti).

hey!:o
well, i learn and read from the best:D
h4n5ip 01-26-2009, 08:58 PM It surprised me if you broke nanogy 95 just for 2 games.
The string itself is thick enough. In a place I normally play, there is one player who smash like hell and the power is awesome. He used Nbg95 and it last long.
I think there is nothing wrong about the string. You have to be concern of the stringer :D
