I really enjoy the 'competition feeling' and the competitiveness of the game. Tournaments are great fun in my opinion though. Also, because there is a great deal of speed, technique and skill involved in badminton, opposed to strength. And isn't hitting a jump smash so fulfilling? :P

I like it because there is always room for improvment. Unlike video games, there is no limit.

Not a pro player so,it's a layperson point of view.I think it's fun and everything is under my control. This is the only sport that i can beat my brother, recently.and it's damn good feeling.:p
I believe the pro player had another good reason to make this as their career. It's good if we could ask them.

I simply like to play badminton because of the excitement in the rallies that you're in and also when I first joined my former high school badminton, my friends who were siblings were playing so great. So I decided to try to play as well as them. Once I started, I felt so "cool" when I did all these jump smashes and learning to play consistently.

IMO, badminton is the perfect sport. Anybody can play it (but few can play it well) and it's no less exciting to watch than to play yourself. There's satisfaction to be had both from an earth-shattering smash and a cheeky drop.
But most of all it's the other people you meet. I've said this a hundred times and I'll keep saying it - you never get stupid badminton players:).

Badminton is a Great Sport and Sweating Exercise. As for the Wilderness and Foolishness it depends on the WHEN and WHERE. In the place and time where there is no light and dark, it's Dangerous!:(

Love badminton for the skill, power, movement and the speed of thought ready for the next shot, also it also gives me something to think about and take the stresses of daily life away with total concentration. Oh and as a few have said the people are friendly I've made lots of new friends since playing badminton :D

Because it is indoor and winter(average -5 to -30 degree outside) lasts for approximately 8 months in my city.:crying: Other choices for indoor sports are very lame except for futsal
When summer comes, screw badminton... it's time for some real football(soccer)

It's the best sport if you're playing at near equal level, otherwise, it's boring.

I hated team sports (soccer, basketball, etc.) because I was always viewed as the weakest player, despite trying my best.
Badminton was the only sport I could actually be good at.
Badminton is all on the individual. Your own abilities.

there is so called double, and that involves two players, wouldn't that consider as team?

perhaps he's a singles only kinda guy.
I play both, simply because it means i get to play more. and more is better.
But i actually prefer doubles. I was always a team sport kinda guy, thus the basketball addiction for 13-odd years. What a waste. I wonder how good I'd be at badminton now, if I had a coach since then.

I think that's not what he meant. He probably plays both and the reason he doesn't like other team sports because it usually involve large number of players on court (ie basketball. soccer, etc). With 2 players, it's easier to communicate and build up teamwork.

Thank you Gemcat :)
Although you may be in a "team," you use your own individual abilities to support your partner and yourself. The same ideology goes for your partner. If you lose a game, you have yourself to blame.
Well, that's how I think of it.

For the love of the game since young.......passion.:p
Besides that there are so many things involved:
(1) Deception
(2) Accuracy
(3) Fitness/stamina
(4) Power
(5) Speed
(6) Skills n strategies
(7) Mental Strength
(8) Agility
(9) Smartness
(10) Teamwork.
Best is,there is no body contacts and rough handling as in rugby or football.;)

Aside from all the fun and fitness, which is obviously there; I love badminton for those moments that punctuate your memory. I can think of no other sport where for short periods of time a relatively weak player can make a strong player look silly on court (albeit this doesn't happen often) by having a moment of genius.
It's these moments, and for me these shots which I replay over and over in my head after a night of good badminton. Some of my best shots over the past 4 years I can still remember now. More importantly, when one of these moments occurs, I love the look of deflation on your opponents face. Again, it's the only sport I can think of whereby you can crush an opponent's will with power or a feather touch.
It's a great game, I love every minute of badminton that I play.

Speed when driving and rallies, tactical, trust between your partner, smashes (who doesn't love the sound of smashes when properly hit?), good atmosphere, good workout (lunges) and many more that I can't think of right now xD.
