It is a strap to dissipate some of the force of the patellar tendon on the tibia. They train so much that tendonitis is a frequent problem.

It's called a patella strap I believe. Google it.

Of which I have two! Its a very annoying pain just below the knee that only gets worse if there is no support. It can be so bad that walking is impeded the next day after playing. The straps act as shock absorbers, and give support to the tendon when lunging.

Firstly, find out what's causing the pain.

and no, the SAME strap wont help. In fact having soulder pain usually indicates bad form normally.

It's so depressing to call it a disease. I know that's how it's labeled, but it sounds like some insidious process that is going to eat you alive. Really it's just a knob of bone that hopefully, one day, will not hurt you anymore.:)

What kind of jokers want a disease named after them, anyhow? Oh well, better than being the 'Morgagni' of the Columns of Morgagni (google it).

like wtf :p you put a special strap below your knee disc on that thin muscle going downwards.

if it acts as shock absorbers and support to tendon when lunging then should I be wearing it even if the pain has not really come? I do shadow like every other day.
