Apparently, Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan have withdrawn from the All England Open 2009. Reports say that Kido's knee, which he injured at the Super Series Finals, requires more medical attention.
If so, it's unlikely this pair will sit out the Swiss Open 2009 too.
It's six years since Indonesia won the MD title at the All England Open.
Is one of the backup squads capable of ending this drought?

I think so.. Luluk & Alvent play as pair for long time, eventough they are not good friend outside the court.. Hendra & Kido should think about their performance & ranking, not their own ego..

Injury forces Kido/Hendra to skip All England tournament
Niken Prathivi, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan, Indonesia's best men's doubles partners will likely skip the world's oldest badminton tournament, the All England Super Series, because of Kido's nagging knee injury.
"I'm not going to All England as it [my left knee] still hurts," Kido said in a text message on Saturday.
World No. 2 Kido and Hendra would be among four Indonesian pairs - Yonatan Suryatama/Rian Sukmawan, Bona Septano/Muhammad Ahsan and Joko Riyadi/Candra Wijaya - to take part in the US$200,000 tournament at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham next month.
Kido, who recently backed down from his threat to quit the national team after settling a contract fee dispute with the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI), incurred the injury during last year's Indonesian Open, which prompted the pair to abandon their quarterfinal match. He however regained his fitness long enough for the pair to bring home Indonesia's only gold medal from the Beijing Olympics.
The pair failed to maintain their winning form as they dropped out of the World Super Series in November, because of the injury. They also crashed out in the second round of Korean Super Series last month.
Their withdrawal from the All England will make way for German pair Kristof Hopp and Johannes Schoetlerr to advance to the second round, where they will go up against Kido's brother Bona and Ahsan.
Meanwhile, it will be an Indonesia-Malaysia affair with Yonatan and Rian challenging fourth seeds Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari, and Joko and Candra playing against Gan Teik Chai and Tan Bin Shen in the first round.
Indonesia's men's singles hopes will rest on world No. 5 Sony Dwi Kuncoro, world No. 7 Taufik Hidayat, world No. 10 Simon Santoso and Tommy Sugiarto. It will be 2004 Olympic champion Taufik's first campaign in a tournament on his own, after he resigned from the national team. The team will not feature world No. 5 Vita Marissa, who announced her resignation from the national training camp as of Feb. 10, citing dissatisfaction over contract fees.

Cedera, Maria Batal ke All England
Cedera lutut Maria memang kambuhan.

oh sorry, I forgot to translate it...
Here, I use online translator, not very good translation, but good enough to be understood.
Treacherously, Maria failed to All England Jakarta -
The Strength of the Centralisation of Sports Training team of the PBSI EXECUTIVE BOARD to two tournaments super series in Europe, All England and Swiss Terbuka, will decrease. It was woman single named Maria Kristin, yesterday (25/2), said failed departed, following several other mainstays. In fact, the tournament had the very strategic position. In two tournaments, the PBSI EXECUTIVE BOARD will judge the players who were sent. If failing to fill the target, they will be "imprisoned" in the following tournament. In All England, the professional badminton tournament eldest, Indonesia for a long time had not gained the champion. The last time, Indonesia seized him through double man Candra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto in 2003. The certainty of Maria's resignation was sent in the release ceremony in the Centralisation of Sports Training post in Cipayung yesterday. The winner of Beijing olympic games bronze 2008 was cancelled to go because his right knees injury have never fully restored yet. All England will be begun this coming March 3.
Treacherously Maria's knees indeed kambuhan. After could recover, last Thursday (19/2) she felt a really great pain. Not only feel pain, her skin also got irritation. To know the last condition, yesterday she was checked in RSPAD Gatot Subroto. "Finally we, the management and the coach, took the decision to give Maria first a rest." Possibly, she cannot also appear in Swiss later, said Marlev Mainaky, the single coach the woman the PBSI EXECUTIVE BOARD, in Jakarta yesterday. Without Maria, single the woman left Pia Zebadiah and Adrianti Firdasari. With their level at this time, did not yet enter the rank ten big, Marlev did not hope many to his two proteges. "I wanted Firda could to eight big, whereas Pia has been good if could pass 16 big," revealed Marlev.
Maria's absence increased the list of the player Centralisation of Sports Training Cipayung that must be parked. Beforehand, dual the champion's man Beijing olympic games 2008 Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan more previously withdrew. The cause is, the left Kido knees injury did not yet recover. Moreover, the Vita Marissa resignation from Centralisation of Sports Training also made dual the mixture lost one couple, Vita/Muhammad Rijal. Without these players, PBSI will only despatch 17 players tomorrow (27/2), including Tommy Sugiarto that departed at a cost of personally. Was separated, General Chairman PB PBSI Djoko Santoso hoped so that the Centralisation of Sports Training representative at least could bring came home one degree of the champion. As you know, from there the potential for the athlete in his management at this time could be known. Some that most were relied on gained the degree was dual the mixture through the couple Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir that have been in the first rank of the world.
