I see INA, MAS, and HKG players are in the Dutch Junior draw... ;)

www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx (http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx)

I only know Wing Ki Wong from HKG who is a notable player. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2008 Hong Kong Open SS; lost to Taufik Hidayat there. Somehow, Wong is only seeded 4 in this Dutch Junior. I guess the organizers know better... :p

Well... I see the Dutch organizers think #1 ranked INA Junior pair Ullin-Berry aren't even worthy enough to be seeded #16... :p I think the organizers will regret it... ;) Good for Ullin-Berry, they don't need to feel any pressure at all... :p :D

Does anybody know who the top BS seed [Pedro Martins of Portugal] is? Is he good? Is he a top Junior player in Europe or something?

Note: we just learned that Kho Hendrikho will not be going to Europe due to dengue-fever that he got around 5-10 days ago...

the seedings for the dutch junior are done by the EBU, and why some players are seeded and others are not is a mystery to evereyone.... look at the difference between the seedings in the german junior, it's completely different, while there have the same players + the korean and danisch players...

Originally, Wing ki wong was not seedes at all by the EBU, but the organisatoin strongly suggested to seed him...

Pedro Martins was runner up last year, and he is a top european junior player, who plays mostly senior tournaments in europe (f.e. winning all his matches in european mixed team championships)

will be a good tournament though, I look forward to some good matches!

If Pedro Martins can defeat Wing Ki Wong in their top draw, maybe we can see them play against INA's 15-year-old Riyanto Subagja who is in the bottom draw... Unseeded Riyanto might have to play against 3 seeded players on the way to the finals... :p Actually, Pedro might possibly face Gifar in the Round of 16....

Zulfadli Zulkiffli. Watch this guy. http://www.toernooi.nl/sport/player.aspx?id=26046&player=74

Maybe not as good as Win Ki Wong yet, but close to winning against Abdul Latif and winning all main junior tournaments, mostly without even dropping 12 points in one set. I think he's quite talented. Already played Lee Chong Wei before, so he has some experience playing top class players.

Exciting 2 weeks ahead for the Djarum boys/girls. In particular, I am hoping to see good results from Riyanto Subagja (the Tarakan Open Champion in BS category) in the BS (heard he's highly talented and already managed to push some of the Djarum seniors to the limit during trainings).

In the BD, Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan will be hungry for a first international title in the next fortnight....which will put them in good position for the WJC later this year. I believe Sigit Budiarto will also be anxious to see if one of his several proteges can shine in international tourneys.

I think Riyanto's display was excellent, Gifar may have won the third game comfortably, the first two games he was stuggling a bit I think. Zulfadli won quite easily. Ng Sun Ly seemed to have a hard match, I don't know if he was giving 100% during his match... :p

Pedro Martins certainly is a really good player. However, for example Win Ki Wong already reached a SS QF, I don't thin Martins already has this capability. By the way, Wong played Taufik 15 and 19 in this particular quarterfinal

Don't really know her.. Her junior results look okay, although she doesn't win the tournaments as easy as zulfadli
Her first match wasn't really a test I think, her opponent was just a club player from Haarlem (tournament location), so easy win.
Her draw does look quite well, only one other Asian player in her quarter, an Indian player (unknown to me).. I don't know how good the 3/4 seed Russian is.. Her results in the European youth circuit are good, but (unfortunately;)) Asia is always stronger.

Ayu Wanda Tika Wulandari is also scheduled to meet the highly-seeded HKG girl Chan Tsz Ka tomorrow.

No problem for Yayu Rahayu/Delis Yuliana as they progress to R32. I think they will progress to at least R16 where they will meet the top-seed Selena Piek/Iris Tabeling. Clearing that hurdle, they should meet N. Sikki Reddy/Prajakta Sawant [5/8] for a place in the last 4.

Jenna Gozali/Rufika Olivia should progress to at least QF where again a Malaysian pair Ng Hui Ern/Ong Boon Hui should await them. If they can beat the MAS, I think they will go to the Final to entertain either Pook Lok Yan/Tze Ying Suet [3/4], another MAS pair Sonia Cheah Su Ya/Tee Jing Yi, or their own teammate ;)

Well... I just said that INA is not a weak badminton country... :D He he he... Hey, although INA is not as dominant today as in the 1970s-80s-90s where we won a total of 13 Thomas Cups, 3 Uber Cups, and 1 Sudirman Cup... INA still could manage to win at least one gold in every single Olympic since 1992... ;)

Ullin is a disciple of Sigit Budiarto, Jenna a student of Deni Kantono... Both teachers were former #1 MD players on Earth ;). As for Ayu, Rischa, Riyanto, and Gifar, they are going to be the last students of Fang Kaixiang before he retires for good... Even though they are young [age ranging from 15-18], they are not soft & fluffy toys to be brushed aside in this Dutch Junior event... :p :D:D Somehow the organizers have no clue who they are, thus they didn't seed Ullin-Jenna and the others...

I saw Wing Ki play in Hong Kong... Still a bit clumsy... Ullin is a more natural doubles player than Wing Ki. Jenna is also a talented doubles player. Killer hand skills [unfortunately she got relatively short legs]... :p

I wonder if the same Badminton Europe decided on the seedings of the German Junior [next week]... somehow, that tournament, which is also in the European Junior Circuit, have a different idea on who deserve to be seeded... I personally think the German organizers are more realistic... :D I know there is no set rules on whom to seed in International junior tournaments... The INA players just have to prove the Dutch Junior organizers that they are waaayyyy offff this time around... :p He he he...

If I were the organizers of the Dutch or German Junior... If I know the #1 pair/player of INA, CHN, MAS, KOR are in town... I will at least seed them as the 5-8 seeds... :p

This is pretty much like in soccer... even if I don't know how good the Junior teams of Brazil, Italy, Germany, Argentina are... I will seed them at least as the 5-8 seeds... By sheer reputation of their country's soccer prowess throughout soccer's history... :p

But that's just me... :o

Both Gifar and Riyanto sail through the next round.

Remaining fixtures for today:
BD R32 Matijs Dierickx/Maxime Moreels vs Mohd Ullinuha/Berry Angriawan
GS R32 Cha Tsz Ka [3/4] vs Ayu Wanda Tika Wulandari -- in terms of experience, I think the Hong-Kong girl has had exposure to int tourneys, so, she has the edge.
GS R32 Rischa Meissiani vs Lianne Tan [2] -- I think an upset is likely here.
BS R32 Adrain Dziolko [9/16] vs Arief Gifar Ramadhan -- ditto as above.
BS R32 Riyanto Subagja vs Nikolaj Persson

15-year-old Riyanto...

Prediction: one day, if there are no injuries or other unexpected problems, Riyanto Subagja and Chen Long of China will be rivals in the world stage. 2016 Olympics maybe... :D Riyanto will be 22/23 then. Chen Long around 25/26... Both are good looking athletes... Young girls will swarm the stadium... They will hopefully improve badminton's popularity...

Gifar in action.

He is a tough competitor. Not as talented as Riyanto, but very hard working and won't ever surrender. :) Good working-class ethic.

Gifar's height: 176 cm

Tomorrow afternoon, I hope to have a look at some matches.
Zulfadli had a really confident win yesterday (21-4 2nd game!), same goes for Iskander, Win Ki Wong, Riyanto and Pedro Martins.
I think the only remarkable result was the loss of Sun Ly against the Czech in three games... I don't know how old/strong Sun is, but as he appears to be in the Malaysian natioanl squad so can't be bad :p
In WS, Sonia passed through easily, but all Indonesian, Hong Kong and Malaysian girls did, so it looks good for Asia there.
Today clash between Lianne Tan (2) and Rischa Meissiani. I think this will be a close match, Lianne is a good player who was close to beating Yao Jie (former European Champion, Thailand Open champion and nr. #5 in world ranking) during European Team Championships, so her shape seems okay. She slaughted her Czech opponent yesterday (5 and 11) so won't be exhausted.
I noticed that in men's and women's doubles both there is only one Indonesian couple, but these couples will be top players probably.
In WD, the Indo's can already meet first seeded Dutch players tomorrow in last sixteen. Strange draw, because the Dutch girls - even although I know European badminton is worse - are really good reaching last 16 or last 8 at last year's World Junior Champ. as 2nd years -17, so don't underestimate them. In MD, the Indo's should actually win the upcoming matches, as I see the second seeded couple does not have really noticable results.
The Mixed doubles is exciting, today's matches will bring victory to the Asian couples probably, but the first seeded Jacco and Selena reached the quarterfinals as u17 last year, and were very close to beating the final winners from China. Hopefully some Dutch success there :p

That's because Jenna/Olivia got a bye yesterday. Today, 2 pairs in GD. Only 1 pair in BD Ullin/Berry and as Krisna mentioned, they are INA's no 1 BD pair at the moment, winning several tourneys in 08 and 09. They are certainly one of INA's best hope in WJC this year. Interesting fact about sweden's Ellinor Widh [06/'90] (who beat dutch Yik-Man Wong [5/8] earlier this week): a two sport talent: badminton & javelin (2006 national champ in javelin and junior swedish record holder).

Old training schedule:
"Träning Höst -Vår 2004-2007

Vecka

Måndag Teknik spjut, styrka
Tisdag Badminton
Onsdag Badminton
Torsdag Teknik spjut, styrka
Fredag Vila
Lördag Match eller vila
Söndag Match eller vila"

Since I don't see anymore javelin results probably chose badminton. Edit: had a severe injury in 2007 but will be back in javelin this season.

BS QF Riyanto Subagja vs Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainudin [2] -- given the MAS player is slightly more experienced, it will be an upset if Riyanto can beat him

GD QF Yayu Rahayu/Delis Yuliana vs N. Sikki Reddy/Prajakta Sawant [5/8] -- again, I hope the INA pair can beat the Indian pair, but, I will think that the Indian pair will progress.

GD QF Jenna Gozali/Rufika Olivia vs Franziska Burket/Carla Nelte [3/4] -- on the other hand, I think Jenna/Olivia can handle the seeded pair and they should be in a good shape for a place in the Final.

MD QF Jonas Geigenberger/Andreas Heinz [5/8] vs Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan -- ditto for Ullin/Berry.

XD QF Mohd Ulinnuha/Jenna Gozali vs Aleandre Francoise/Audrey Fontaine -- now, this match is arranged to be held immediately after the MD match finishes, so, there's a possibility that Ullin will be tired  But, I am still hoping Ullin/Jenna can win this one.

Did this injury result from badminton or from javelin throwing?

Doesn't say. "...en skada i höger axel" injury to the right shoulder. My guess would be from throwing.

At last, Jenna/Olivia make it to the SF after a tight battle with the GER pair that lasted 3 sets. It was an easy job in the first set as the INA pair took it 21-12. However, the GER pair saved 1 match point in the second set and ending up taking that set 22-20, which forced the rubber-set. Jenna/Olivia were also leading comfortably 15-8, but were pegged back to 18-17. The INA youngsters eventually win it 21-17. Their next opponent will be a tough one: Sonia Cheah Su Ya/Tee Jing Yi.

So, 2 INA GD pairs in the SF, with still a chance to make it an all-INA Final tomorrow.

Not much extra: surgery in january 2008 and now the swedish U19 champ in singles and doubles (since a few weeks ago). Usually the swedes disappear after juniors so will be interesting to follow. Also saw some numbers that looked like triple jump distances and if that was correct she's somewhere in the 14 meter range already and that was from before the injury. Last time I went to our national championships the senior men won with a distance in the 14's towards 15 :D. Which says more about our male triple jumpers as that is a pitiful distance for a top male triplejumper.

Hmm freaky german xd giving their big lead up again (I hope). And indeed it's all square again.

Ullin-Berry also have not dropped a game in BD this week... including defeating the 2nd seed and the 5-8th seed in straight sets...

See...! The Dutch Junior organizers should give more respect to INA's #1 BD and #1 XD [in 2008] next time... :p

I don't blame them for not seeding Jenna-Oliv and Delis-Yayu since they are not top ranked INA GD... Nor do I blame them for not seeding Ayu, Rischa, Gifar, and Riyanto... Since these singles players are not among INA's best... But to not seed Ullin-Berry and Ullin-Jenna is a mistake... :p

The BD and XD are undoubtedly INA's best chances for titles today! As for the GD prediction, I know they will face tough matches (esp against more experienced MAS opponents like Tee Jing Yi). So, those predictions are merely my hopes :D

Last SF prediction:
XD SF Jacco Arends/Selene Piek [1] vs Mohd Ullinuha/Jenna Gozali -- another tough match against the top seed and I hope Ullin/Jenna can deliver! Isn't it nice to see that the juniors in Europe are providing some good competition to those from Asia and many are in the semi finals today. Of the 20 semi finalists, 9 are from Europe and they are represented in all 5 events.

However, notable absentees from Europe are Denmark and from Asia: China, South Korea and Japan.

Still this is a good sign that badminton continues to thrive with the younger generation in Europe. :)

This is a definitely morale-boosting win for Ullin/Berry in preparation for the WJC this year. They beat the second-seed, two 3/4 seeds, and one 5/8 seed en route to the title.

Next week will be a tougher tourney for the INA youngsters at the Yonex German Junior 2009, despite being seeded 3/4. They should meet a MAS pair (Mohd Syawal Mohd Ismail/Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin) in R16, followed by a KOR pair (Choi Seung Il/Jun Yong Hun, seeded 5/8) in the QF.

If they can clear the QF, potential opponents in the SF include the top-seed Chooi Kah Ming/Pang Zheng Lin or another KOR pair Ha Young Woong/Kim Min Ki or a DEN pair (Niclas Noehr/Mads Pedersen, seeded 5/8 also).

Now, if they go all the way to the Final yet again, I believe the second-seed Choi Young Woo/Kang Ji Wook or the 5/8 seed Goh Sze Onn/Teo Ee Yi, and some other pairs they have beaten this week will await them in the Final. It will be another interesting week.

Phew...Mohd Ullinuha/Berry Angriawan eventually seal the match in straight-sets 21-18, 21-19. They had comfortable leads in both sets, only to be pegged back....esp in the second set when they nearly lost it at 16-19. Luckily, they won the last 5 pts of the match to take home the title!

GREAT!!! :D See...!!! Dear Dutch Junior organizers, next time don't underestimate INA #1 ranked MD [under 19]! Seed them next time. Any #1 ranked MD from a badminton powerhouse like INA, KOR, MAS, CHN deserve to be seeded...

krisna...can i ask something...does IJ ever play in more than 1 department????if no...why?

IJ = INA Juniors?

Well... until age 15, they usually play both doubles and singles. But... at around 16, the coaches will 'direct' the kid to be in either a doubles player [probably playing XD too] or a singles player... I think among the badminton powerhouses, INA and KOR seperated their doubles and singles training camp...

Look's like Ullin/Jenna will lose in the rubber-set, despite winning the second-set 21-13. Unless, there's a quick recovery.

13-13 to 17-17 now. Can any pair make the breakthrough for the last 4 pts?
