..i noticed quite a few of BCers' eyes are getting red..:p
Nova/Butet trails 8-11 @ break.....
Flandy knows how to play against them.
..all 3 former Pelatnas players??..surprise??..It's Russkikh which i find quite surprising to be holding her own, so far in this tourney..;)
A funny moment during Taufik's victory
...
..Taufik must've taken a cue from KKK's sitting-duck stance during the SSMF..
I think it's clear that he didn't lie when he said he had trained.
On the other hand, I think the form he showed today is not enough to take out LD. In particular, his smashes are so weak now.
..i believe i was screaming the same thing when Taufik reached the 2006 Japan Open MS Final..:p
I won't be convinced until i see him raise that AE title..err..until he kisses that trophy/medal..;)
WYH bt XXF in 30 minutes 21-9, 21-13
..Lee xiǎojie, that's the most modest cheer for Wang xiǎojie i've seen from you...so cool ah..aren't you happy??..;):)

After olmypic, LCW once again becomes the sole representative in this ae. While INA do slightly better. The winner right now is definitely CHN and the winter training :) Kor and Den will also try to steal some light here :)
Well, It won't be long before CHN starts to reclaim the top spot in WR especially the WS and WD soon after the ae.

Humiliating defeats for M'sia MD. Never thought they could be beaten so badly. They look good on paper but couldn't deliver. As for LCW, I don't think he could match up with Lin Dan. But first, he need to get pass Taufik. Again, good on paper but can he deliver?

Maybe splitting up Kkk/tbh to partner the Fazzy pair in desperate measure :)

Maybe splitting up Kkk/tbh to partner the Fazzy pair in desperate measure :)
better to partner KKK with Hafiz, so KKK can legitimately blame Hafiz when they fail to deliver. Then partner LCW and TBH together since they are already business partners, so while business is probably slow(due to the economy), they may feel the need to actually win a tournament or two(perhaps away from Malaysia) to compensate their business.;)

Chen clings to All-England title hopes after controversial win
by Richard Eaton
BIRMINGHAM, England, March 6, 2009 (AFP) -
Chen Jin clung to his All-England title by the width of a net tape and amidst a storm of booing during a controversial finish to his quarter-final in the All-England Open on Friday.
It looked as though his unseeded Japanese opponent, Sho Sasaki, had come back from a five-point final game deficit to 20-20 when he leapt forward and dismissed a tight net shot from Chen with a lunging kill.
But the third-seeded Chinese player stood and pointed, objecting that there had been a foul, and umpire Mike Wright of New Zealand, after an agonising pause, and a slow gesture, agreed, calling the match to Chen by 14-21, 21-13, 21-19.
Sasaki was stunned, dropped his racquet and complained while Chen shook hands with all the officials.
This brought noisy hoots from the crowd and for a while it looked as though a major incident might blow up, as Chen had completed his formalities and began to make his way towards his kitbag.
But at the last moment, Sasaki got over his frustration, completed his circles of frenzied walking, and shook hands with the champion, and the umpire.
“His racquet definitely touched the net,” said Chen. “Though it wasn’t his fault. It was my game and I am happy to take the point. Just as long as I won it doesn’t matter to me how it happens.” Earlier, Chen had been in trouble when he went a game and 7-12 down, but suddenly he achieved a better mixture of defence and attack and began coaxing errors from the nimble, patient Sasaki.
Chen was later joined in the semi-finals by Taufik Hidayat, the former Olympic and world champion who reached the All-England final when he was only 17 but in ten years since has never won it.
The controversial Indonesian was trailing by two points in both games against Peter Gade, the former world number one from Denmark, but raised his game brilliantly when it most mattered to secure a 21-17, 21-18 win.
Taufik now plays Lee Chong Wei, the world number one from Malaysia, who conceded only 18 points in beating Ville Lang of Finland, while Chen’s title defence took him to a semi-final with Lin Dan, the Olympic champion.
Chen looked superb as he crushed Joachim Persson, the sixth-seeded Dane, and the only remaining European, by 21-13, 21-6, and then suggested he would be happy to coach any promising European youngsters if they were to come to Beijing.
Two Danes and two Chinese, however, have reached the women’s singles semi-finals, which may be more to the taste of a predominantly European crowd.
Titleholder Tine Rasmussen let slip a frightening seven match points in a row from 20-9 in the final game but still beat Yip Pui Yin of Hongkong 21-17, 18-21, 21-16, thus earning a match with Jiang Yanjiao, one of three surprise survivors.
And in the other semi, Nanna Brosolat, who has progressed further than any previous women’s singles qualifier, plays Wang Yihan, the rising young world number 17.
Wang had already beaten one compatriot who is a former All-England champion, Zhou Mi, and now beat another, Xie Xingfang, 21-9, 21-13.
I'm putting my money on the Danes :)
Remember I'm behind you on this pair! :D
Now that MAS's pair have been eliminated, we are half way to winning X Ball's treat! :p
The other half will have to depend on whether LCW can win this AE. ;)

yaya, Sho Sasaki was very dissatisfied with the umpire's decision. He threw his racket somemore. However, I agree with the umpire, the rakcet really touched the net. If you watch the video clearly, you will see it.

the net tape bounces, something hit the net tape. Even CJ saw it.
The umpire has the best view, i'm sure the call is correct. In the HD mode, u can see it.

Why can't the MAS MDs be beaten? Or for that matter why can't any MDs be beaten? (the KOR MDs were beaten badly in front of their home crowd in KO09,weren't they? And they were ranked No 1).The MD title has been changing hands quite regularly and will continue to do so.Mog/Boe are dangerous because they are still improving and they think very well while on court.

Why did the umpire not make the call immediately if he had seen it? Clearly the umpire hadn't seen it and allowed a player to be his boss. Why did the crowd boo if the umpire had made the right decision? There are many lousy BWF umpires;this is a good example of one of them.

Certainly, the decision was influenced by CJ's reaction. On his part, you cannot blame CJ. Any player, when he sees the net move, is bound to question the validity of the shot that resulted in causing the movement. If the umpire or the net judge (who's in charge of that area of play) didn't see it, I'd say they're negligent. If they did and not react until CJ pointed it out, they're even more guilty. In either case if the video evidence (I have not examined it closely enough) shows net movement due to racket contact, it's a no brainer. However it's a split second judgement and CJ could also not have not seen it correctly.
As a player, it's the right thing to do.

I have watched the match between JJS/LYD and Boe/Mogesen. The word " BEATEN BADLY" was not wise to be used.
7-21 for KKK/TBH in the 1st game, maybe this word can suits them.

my 3 sens:
..i saw the video and incident..It was such a quick play that i don't think the umpire really noticed it, at least right away..The net movement could be due to either the racket or the shuttle hitting the net..Anyway, the umpire had to make a call based on what he sees, which was the net's movement..One thing i noticed though was Chen Jin's awareness of what happened..I think Sasaki reacted that way and took a while to regroup himself because, imo, it happened in such a crucial stage of the game; if it happened maybe halfway through the game, i don't think he will react that way.
