View Full Version : After the AE, can we still Boleh or not in the Swiss Open??
Pemuda 03-09-2009, 08:14 AM Dear Boleh fans,
I know many of you are still nursing a hangover after last night. However, in the spirit of our great nation Malaysia Boleh mentality, I call upon you guys and girls to pull up your socks, sarongs, pants etc because our Malaysia Boleh spirit is well known the world over.
As a nation, we have achieved numerous feats under the Malaysia Boleh banner.
We made the world largest omellete and roti canai. No other countries have the expertise to do it except Malaysia.
We built the world tallest flag pole, no other countries have the architecture know how to construct one except Malaysia.
Yes, we got a severe beating in the AE but thats water under the bridge now. Our shuttlers like KKK, TBH and LCW have all re-grouped. They went shopping after the AE in Bond Street and bought new and bigger gold rings, chains, pendants and bracelets. So, my dear Boleh fans, can we Boleh or not in the Swiss Open???
Oh and by the way ... there will be a new and better Malaysia Boleh bandwagon as the last one was kinda errr ... faulty:o
yen_saw 03-09-2009, 08:18 AM Certainly, i hope Malaysia do better than 1 runner in AE. Best of luck to MAS players.
jutawin 03-09-2009, 10:00 AM It depend on LCW, if he lose in early round.
We can already guess, what Malaysia can get in SO..
sudirman 03-09-2009, 11:14 AM what? they went to Bond street? i was there!!!
ctjcad 03-10-2009, 01:26 AM ...

the interesting part is , you always like to RELIVE the mas BOLEH spirit all over here..maybe u can be our cheerleader to cheer for mas players during tournaments.;)
i can see the determination and the spirit in you.

Now only you know, after joining BC 1 yr+++, biasalah they all, maybe want some practice before becoming politician. :p:p:p
X Ball 03-10-2009, 07:15 AM In a different vain, I see Malaysians standing tall with a first class display of power by LCW to enter a FINALS against a very worthy opponent (LD). It was not a shame to have supported such a talented player like LCW, when all other Malaysians can only dream that they can have such a talent.
I cannot imagine not one Chinese felt his heart thumped fast when LCW got in front at 19-17 in the first set. Is that something we should 'knock', except for the pathetic few (you know who).

My dearest,
Dont la be emotional. I know the beating at the AE was pretty hard to swallow especially when our shuttlers went through a few days of top secret intensive training that was so tough, having had their faces painted and then going shopping with it etc.

hahaha...hmmm, I need to re-submit my answer....since Swiss Open is not a big tournament...may be Mas BOLEH win....:D:D:D
I thought the 'BOLEH KALAH' is the on the dot answer you want from BOLEHian ma...if not, why you create a similar thread after AE, knowing that 95% we won't get any title in Swiss Open? :p

I predict we won't get any title as China, Denmark, Korea, Indonesia all taking part....unless, we held Swiss Open in JB, KK or Kuching...ar...like that, may be we can win title...this is the famous implication that ppl used to say...and, I have to agree to them...We all Kampung mindset...so, can only win in Kampung, can't win outside....:p:D

AE is AE. SO is SO.
95% we wont get any title in Swiss Open!!! What!!!!:eek: You mean we are sending our shuttlers there for some holiday??? Who is footing the bill for this expensive exercise then???

call me Aunty Kucing...I m too old to be your sweetie :D (anyway, thanks for addressing me as 'Sweetie'...kekekeke)
You imply it, so I help you to say out...:p
BAM send them for holiday + shopping trip + earn some pocket money...but ho...Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan etc also send their shuttlers for holiday, coz most likely they won't win any title as China might clean sweep again in Swiss Open...
extremenanopowe 03-10-2009, 09:00 AM After some tough work in Kuching, let them enjoy the chocolate there lah. As long as there's a semi. Boleh lah. ;)

many example can proved you are right..but as a malaysian we at least have to cakap sikit ma..mybe this time our kampung player can make a bit dffrent le...like pepatah said..."kucing lari lorong, chong wei keluar kampung,

I am into older women as well. Sheila Majid, Michelle Pfeiffer, Gong Li, my English teacher Mrs Cheah when I was in Form 3, ....
I dont care about Korea, Indonesia etc. They can send their parents to compete as well for all I care. I am only for Malaysia because we are paying for this expensive holiday.
X Ball 03-10-2009, 09:17 AM It's comforting to know that more Iced Lemon Tea is coming my way :D
Hot tea is better if you are old. Too much iced tea makes you ....dysfunctional.:D
I will in due course honour that.
Oldhand 03-10-2009, 09:21 AM Pemuda, should Lee Chong Wei think anew about how to play Lin Dan (and there's plenty of sage advice in our threads ), you might yet see a win for the Datuk.
After all, the last thing he would want is for people to suddenly begin questioning if, indeed, the award were premature!
Oldhand 03-10-2009, 09:22 AM [...]Too much iced tea makes you ....dysfunctional.:D
Um, not when it is free ;)
koo_fan 03-10-2009, 10:05 AM Hey.. i like the question of the thread.
Boleh.
bananakid 03-10-2009, 10:10 AM First of all, I think we need to define "boleh" here... does it necessary mean winning any title or just simply do well enough to satisfy the boleh fans(eg. getting into a final).
Either way, let's examine the possiblities of boleh-ing in all 5 categories:
MS- There is a chance, but slim... since Lin Dan is simply the best in MS at the moment, most likely in the future as well until he decides to retire.
MD- The additional weight of the new gold chains, and etc... will definitely be a burden to the already underperforming MAS pair of Koo/Tan. Fuzzy... they enjoy killing themselves in cruical points in a badminton match, eg. HK open 08.
WS- LOL... forget it.
WD- There is a chance... if only they can perform 120%, and give it all.
XD-No chance ever... might as well send the pair of [removed] and [removed] to play, the chance of winning is just as good.
Summary... Yes, MAS can boleh in Swiss open. Since Swiss open is not a major event, and Malaysia shuttlers as a group only goes home empty handed in big events.

Hey, I don't know who the Sheila is...but Michelle and Gong Li, those 2 are many an older guys dream dates...hahaha!!!...as for Mrs Cheah, man alive, I have a same Mrs Cheah when I was in Standard 3 and she was darn good looking and all the boys drool over her, now that is true, I swear...now, as for Gong Li, even Chow Yun Fat confess he has a crush on her and Chow signed on that 'Flower something' movie cos Gong is cast in that movie...Pemuda, you have taste...hehehe!!:D
limsy 03-10-2009, 11:37 AM i want to nominate pemuda to replace kenny goh...anyone agree????
yes....he is so BRIGHT ABOUT WHY WE SO AND SO...MUST ASK HIM LEAD BAM....:)....
Ladies and gentlemen,
When the facts are laid down across the table, the above is the typical Malaysia Boleh response, very kiddie, juvenile like. It is no wonder why Malaysia continue to be a nation of underachievers and it will continue to be so if Malaysians are unable to wake up and see the light of day.
Facts are stubborn things. See, whatever our wishes, our inclinations or dictums of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.
As for limsy, tu budak lagi. Biar.

But ah, dunno whether is due to my eye problems or not, I saw LD wore bracelets during the AE final? Ok ok, I know LD is currently the world best player in MS, he won all the major titles which LCW doesn't have any, so, he wears 10 gold rings, 5 bracelets etc also nvm. The most important point is, LD is not 'Bolehland' shuttler, and u only CARE about 'Bolehland' shuttlers, am I right???:D:D:D

Correct also, save space & clutter, save energy & time to type repeated info in different threads. All the essays can make full feature write ups for the newspapers. ;):D:D
For latest info on Swiss : Rexy cannot go Swiss SS, visa problem, so Rashid Sidek will guide the doubles players. XD , no sure if Jeremy Gan is there. Should be interesting how the matches will be with Rashid in the coach's chair.:p

On a side note, I was stopped by security officer at train station for looking like gangster wearing skinny jeans and small square textured shirt and having copper coloured hair...
Had to show him my passport :(

:eek::eek:, that is quite ridiculous....the security officer must not know what is 'fashion'....
'Skinny' jeans = gangster costume....then, how about the skinny CAT & KITTEN? Gangster leader....:D:D:D

Pemuda 03-11-2009, 10:58 PM Oh...oh... If so, then why r u talking about the world largest omelette and roti canai, world tallest flag pole? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is nothing to do with badminton as well???:rolleyes:;):D If u wanna talk about this thingy, maybe u can try The Guinness World Records...:p:D:D
Those are Malaysia Boleh achievements achieved through sheer Malaysia Boleh grit. I was using them as examples. You need to understand the difference between Boleh achievements and politics first.
Come back when you do.
Or... u know our shuttlers need to eat the world largest omelette to gain power for smashing and the world tallest flag pole for our Jalur Gemilang when one or more of them can win in major tournaments, as u and the so-called 'Boleh fans' dreamed...:p Alamak, my fault, all ur saying r about badminton, including the 'gold rings, chains, pendants and bracelets' that ONLY 'Bolehland' shuttlers have...
I am glad you believe in a healthy diet. It is the key for a healthy lifestyle and all. As for that flag pole, I agree with you it is a masterpiece on the architecture side.
Good that you know that LD won all the major titles. You said it right on the dot.
Oldhand 03-11-2009, 11:05 PM Let's get away from the 'classroom' and go back to bolehing badminton :)
Pemuda 03-11-2009, 11:14 PM Pemuda, should Lee Chong Wei think anew about how to play Lin Dan (and there's plenty of sage advice in our threads ), you might yet see a win for the Datuk.
After all, the last thing he would want is for people to suddenly begin questioning if, indeed, the award were premature!
Ok Boss, back to badminton, Malaysia Boleh badminton at the Swiss Open. :p
Of course, LCW will beat LD one day. It will be like say if they play each other 10 times, it will be impossible for LD to win all 10. LD will win say 7 and LCW 3. It is like MU and Man City, say in 10 matches , MU will win like 8 and MCity 2. But it is MU who has all of em' major titles tucked away nicely in their cabinet and all. :D
Pemuda 03-12-2009, 12:16 AM First of all, I think we need to define "boleh" here... does it necessary mean winning any title or just simply do well enough to satisfy the boleh fans(eg. getting into a final).
Bro, I am indeed surprised with the reaction and confidence of the Boleh fans. None of them, infact not a single one came forward with a specific prediction. All I saw was a bunch of 'I hope our shuttlers can win', 'I will support no matter what', 'hope LCW will have some luck against LD' etc.
Ok, let me put my neck on the chopping block again (drum roll please...) :o:
MS - We wont win. Why? Because the two beatings by LD in the OG and AE sort of messed up LCW's mind. And should LCW meet LD in the final again and gets another sound beating, I would say we are most likely looking at some sort of permanent damage. I got a feeling LCW may not even make the final. As for the rest, KBH, WCH ... a bunch of lambs for the slaughter house.
MD - We wont win. We dont have the quality.
WS - I dont know. Are we represented? Even if we do, we wont win even if our shuttlers are given a 8 point handicapped.
WD - We are punching way, way above our weight here. Very very slim chance and if I am pressed for an answer, I will say we wont win as well.
XD - Let just say I hope our shuttlers have a good holiday in Switzerland and visit some reputable watch maker like IWC for a tour of their watch muzium. And I agree, BAM should have sent [removed] & [removed] instead. You know, package it under some 'Ordinary Malaysians to represent Malaysia' type of scheme.

..maybe this thread can be merged with the other "Can M'sia Boleh at the AE?" thread??...Maybe rename it to "Can M'sia Boleh at the AE & Swiss Open Super Series?"..might as well??..
May be just categorize as "Can Malaysia Boleh in Super Series?" :D
Even as a die hard Malaysian fan, I find it amusing to see and read all these interesting threads about our Malaysia players, before and after each tournaments. I like to see thing in a postive way even though we hardly win anything ... Firstly, Lee Chong Wei may not win more titles than what we expect but he's still the best that we have and still very capable to go deep into the round consistently so treasure that. Second, not a single player that I know in Malaysia achieve more than him from era of Misbun Sidek, Saw Swee Leong, Rashid Sidek, Ong Ewe Hock, Yong Hock Kin, Wong Choon Hann, ... Lee Chong Wei really deserves our support, not just when he wins also when he fumbles.
Just take it easy and enjoy every moment when our special Chong Wei is on court just like we enjoy watching Lin Dan even thought we "blame" him for our failure. We should just recognise and appreciate these top notch players with wonderful and unique skills.

Ahhh ... education. My fave subject. Here, have I read at this http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1039120&postcount=652 and think a little bit after reading it.
Pemuda 03-13-2009, 02:09 AM Why the need to merge them threads?? AE is AE and SO is SO. If we want to merge why dont we have one single thread for all matters pertaining to badminton under the sun titled something like 'Badminton now till OG 2012?'
Why target only the Boleh threads for the AE & SO only??? We need to be consistent. We cannot cherry pick.
I have no problems if boleh fans want to take only the positives and treasure this and that. I respect that. Boleh fans have their rights to voice their opinion/s, and though I may not agree with them I will defend their rights to voice them.
On the side note, while we are here saying treasure our shuttlers, love them, appreciate them and all, let me remind my fellow Malaysians that while public funds are being utilized to fund, train, develop these shuttlers out in the real world many Malaysians are facing hard economic times.

Well said...in MAS baddy, LCW eclipse all those players you mention above in achievements...in skill level I would even put Dato ahead of Tan Aik Huang whom I have seen played live in Negara Stadium and SBA Hall in Kampong Atap back in the 70's. Enjoy the LD, TH, PG and Dato cos when they are done and gone from the game, then we realize what we miss. I always said, I would gladly pay to see these guys play, only thing stopping me is travel distance and time.

Your post above clear a lot of my thoughts on the ten's of As in MAS students. Just today, in NST, a MAS student scored 19A1 and 1A2, that is 20As. How the heck can anyone study 20 subjects and score on all of them? they don't have to sleep anymore...it made me look stupid...when I took my MCE many decades ago, I studied my nuts...err! my brains off and I took home only 2 miserable As, and the rest ranged from C3 to a oops! P7 (almost bombed my exam). Needless to say, my score is not good enough for regular school and can only qualified for TAR College...those MCE was tough and you are right, the top student in my school can only scored 5As out of 8 subjects.

jasonmarc 03-15-2009, 10:14 AM I think LD only played 45% of his ability, he just won a major and this minor Swiss Open SS is nothing for him, so he played 45% and didnt smashed as hard as AE Final. Afterall, LCW only a average player, dont need to play up to even 70% like last week.............and the story goes on...bla...bla...bla
badMania 03-15-2009, 10:17 AM Well, someone has said countless times in the past couple of months that LCW have not won a title outside Malaysia as WR#1. LCW just did so.
Well, winning a SS title outside MAS is not a big deal when you lost the major title last week ;) Remember...it's the MAJOR title that Lee Chong Wei lacks...not SS titles ;)
This loss is no big deal for Lin Dan either because the Swiss title is just a small title for him. He has won it in 2004 & 2008 :D Just a minor blip for him, just like Manchester United's loss last night to Liverpool. Liverpool might win, but, the overall picture is that Manchester United is still leading the table with 4 pts and a game in hand ;)
No big deal...no big deal...out of 10 games against Lee Chong Wei, Dato Lee might win 3 out of 10....still doesn't matter because he kept losing the major ones ;)
So, unless Lee Chong Wei wins the World Championships in Hyderabad this year, the critics will still have their days ;)
Pemuda 03-15-2009, 10:17 AM Audi?? i thought LD is Porsche?????:D:D:D
Porsche or no, today LCW earned and deserved his win.
eRa@에라 03-15-2009, 10:21 AM come on, didn't you read my lips
Major title, major title....
where is major title???
LCW is spoilt coz he like bracelets, necklaces...;););)

hcyong 03-15-2009, 10:39 AM where is major title, major title???? :D:D:D
We should not trivialize it too much. It is a good point, you know.
I disagree with those who say LCW is only above average, but after the dust settles, LCW could very well be remembered as a great player who never won any major titles. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
alfa-2 03-15-2009, 10:42 AM I think LD only played 45% of his ability, he just won a major and this minor Swiss Open SS is nothing for him, so he played 45% and didnt smashed as hard as AE Final. Afterall, LCW only a average player, dont need to play up to even 70% like last week.............and the story goes on...bla...bla...bla
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D 150% agreed.
alfa-2 03-15-2009, 10:46 AM and KKK won too........
danielwong 03-15-2009, 10:50 AM The answer is a big yes...we indeed BOLEH
although is too late, as SO is not major title
but if we believe, we can BOLEH!!!!!
badMania 03-15-2009, 10:50 AM MS - We wont win.
Well, I guess we already have the answers to this thread by now ;)
eRa@에라 03-15-2009, 10:51 AM they win it!!! love the trick shots! :D

I believe our esteemed friend will take those sentences away from future threads like "Can we still Boleh or not in the XXX Opens" ;) But, the "lack of major title" thingy will obviously feature prominently, well for the reason that major titles are still the most important ones to win right? :D
Luckily, INA players have plenty of major titles to show for :D

I concur.
Well, at least we can have LCW remembered as the player who keeps Lin Dan honest and working overtime to win his many majors. Without LCW (or even Taufik sometimes), I doubt Lin Dan would work and train hard to ensure peak performance at all times.

You are still in school so I dont expect you to understand. Wait till you get out to the real world and get a real job then maybe you understand the meaning of public funds.
Now, it is meaningless as you need to take money from your parents just to buy a burger from McD.
Pemuda 03-15-2009, 09:45 PM Dear Boleh fans,
I hear you all loud and clear. :)
Firstly, I will not take away anything from Datuk LCW's victiory yesterday. He beat LD convincingly. LCW was the better shuttler yesterday. Unlike Boleh fans who will rant about LYB fixing matches each time LD wins, I will not dish out any typical Boleh like excuses.
Yes, LCW got rid of the village MS WR1 yesterday. And I know some of you lot dont like to hear it but facts are facts, LCW still need to win a major title. As for that boleh fan who consider this being repetitive, I would like to congratulate him for almost hitting 8,000 postings within a year of joining BC. I also like the consolation of WCH being a runner up in the WC being bandied about. Hey, if thats the case may as well bring in Ong Ewe Hock & Rashid Sidek who were also the runner ups in the AE as well. ;)
I like the way how Boleh fans celebrated here yesterday. It is like we won the OG gold or WC or AE!!! Malaysia Boleh was truly ringing loud and clear in Basel and BC. Hopefully, we can land the big one, the WC next. It will not be easy as pointed out in the papers today, LD & LCW have played each other 18 times, LCW have won 6 out of 18.
AE & SO, which is the more prestigious title?
Thank you .... and Malaysia Boleh!!
Pemuda 03-15-2009, 09:49 PM ok....but a Rolex for me will you????? :cool::cool::cool:
Instead of depending on hand outs, cant you not work for your money?
Typical Malaysian subsidy mentality.
Pemuda 03-15-2009, 09:53 PM Well, I guess we already have the answers to this thread by now ;)
Yes, and I was proven wrong.
Well, at least I put my predictions forward.
luyi80 03-15-2009, 11:10 PM Dear Malaysia Fans,
Stop celebrating. I agree with Prof. Pemuda's point, whenever LCW won, the "boleh spirit" will come out here and there... SO is NOTHING compare to OG, WC & AE. But, to LCW, this is a mental breakthrough since the nightmare in OG 08. I'll give all the credits to LCW as he really outplayed LD last night. The victory will sure boost his level of confidence. Anyway, a victory over LD can't tell much. LD is still a better player than LCW. Unless LCW can beat LD consistently, otherwise the criticism will still on...
Even, even IF LCW wins WC this year, believe it or not, the criticism will go on, but may change to "LCW only win 1 WC title, look at LD, how many WC titles had he won? How many major titles had he won? WC and OG, which one is more prestige? Typical boleh fans...typical boleh spirits..." bla bla bla...
So, my point is pretty straight and clear. Do not comment and keep on saying the victory, as I'm sure that LD will work harder to defeat LCW next time. Then people will start laughing at the boleh spirit again. If LCW wins, we are happy, but don't overjoy; if he loses, we accept, but don't be upset. Win or lose, just do not comment too much.
Never ever fall into the "trap" again. Ignore all those rational or irrational comments. Respect others right to criticize Malaysian shuttlers. Just keep your mouth shut and let them say whatever they want. If we keep our big mouth shut, they will be boring coz there will be nobody "argue" or "debate" with them.
The conclusion is, the criticism will go on and on......until no "boleh fans" and "boleh spirits" in this forum. But since this is pretty impossible, so, my advice, behave yourselves and stop commenting on those "boleh" thingy. Ignore whatever they say, and please...please...never ever over celebrate, even IF, (IF only ah, not "boleh sipirt" ya) MAS grabs Gold during OG12, coz some people will say, "1 Gold only, and celebrate like crazy??? Look at how many Golds had CHN or INA or KOR got in hand??? Typical boleh fans...typical boleh spirits..."
This will be my last post comment on all these "boleh" topics as well. And my mind is thinking of "My Heart Will Go On", but different version..."the criticism will go on and on......"

If you're talking about government's funds, I'd say the badminton funding is one of the more effective ones. It is an important boost to the national morale. We get some Olympic medals from that. Imagine no badminton in Malaysia.
There is an uncountable number of much-much-more-expensive-yet-useless projects by the goverment.
george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 12:47 AM Those are Malaysia Boleh achievements achieved through sheer Malaysia Boleh grit. I was using them as examples. You need to understand the difference between Boleh achievements and politics first.
Come back when you do.
so, Lee chong wei won the swiss badminton Open, beating the OG champion.Lin dan, can that be considered a MAS BOLEH achievement?
koo/tan won the swiss open too..can that be considered a mas boleh achievement too??
koo_fan 03-16-2009, 12:47 AM Stop celebrating.
I believe this is some sort of revenge. So, let us la, for once.:p
But , My Malaysians members, do not ever repeat the same mistake.
We adores the won too much till we forgotten the fact that, it's a long long waay to go.
What LCW and our other sweethearts need is more than just cheering.
I know we've learned so much from the past failures.
george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:02 AM Ok Boss, back to badminton, Malaysia Boleh badminton at the Swiss Open. :p
Of course, LCW will beat LD one day.
yep, of course lcw will beat ld one day as u said. chong wei prove that to everyone in yesterday's final beating the OG champion;)
and of course MALAYSIA is indeed BOLEH too at the swiss open!:cool:
Bro, I am indeed surprised with the reaction and confidence of the Boleh fans. None of them, infact not a single one came forward with a specific prediction. All I saw was a bunch of 'I hope our shuttlers can win', 'I will support no matter what', 'hope LCW will have some luck against LD' etc.
sure, with the confidence and our faith and continuous hope on our national shuttlers, the results is proven.,in front of everyone eyes!
and lcw dont need some luck for him to win over lin dan..,.we can support and at least have hope on him.
dont be surprised!;);) (my reply)
Ok, let me put my neck on the chopping block again (drum roll please...) :o:
MS - We wont win. Why? Because the two beatings by LD in the OG and AE sort of messed up LCW's mind. And should LCW meet LD in the final again and gets another sound beating, I would say we are most likely looking at some sort of permanent damage. I got a feeling LCW may not even make the final.
MD - We wont win. We dont have the quality.
MS- NO MORE JAGUH KAMPUNG OR CAP AYAM BRAND of lee chong wei, no more nonsense messing up lcw's mind..and should chong wei meet lin dan again, he's victorious this time!:cool::cool:
i got a feeling that someone here had jacked their face to the wall and eating some delicious 'humble pie' already here:D:)
MD- what do u mean by no quality?
by beating the REIGNING ALL ENGLAND MD CHAMPION, FU/CAI from China, and beat the danish pair who end koo/tan hope in the quarter final of the ae(whom the MIGHTY korean pair can't even beat them too), they manage to won a title now.
so now, mas has enough quality or not according to you and your theory?;)

george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:14 AM so dear pemuda, mind to post some boleh bandwagon during the swiss open now?;)
dont stop there.
hot-turtle 03-16-2009, 01:15 AM LCW won becasue :
1. Statistically he has too
2. LD offday - otherwise LCW doesn't have so much room to move
- LD allows LCW to control game
3. LCW defensive play is out of touch . The best defence is to attack . During his Li Moa coach he was doing that. What happen to his half smashes , jump smash -- all gone ?
4. LD uses same technique on LCW in AE but not in SWISS - Smash and run to net anticipate poor return.
Overall LCW can't beat him if goes on like this. Misbun still training LCW in to a stroke play. This is not Lim Siew King's era la... Nowdays its about power play.
george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:15 AM Relax george....now...take a deep breath and don't get over-excited :o:rolleyes:

george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:39 AM Well done, LCW. Well done.

Now, we have a WR1 MS.

george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:42 AM Well, someone has said countless times in the past couple of months that LCW have not won a title outside Malaysia as WR#1. LCW just did so.
As for the title thread, yes, Malaysia won a title (so far) this 2009 Swiss SS. We shall see later if MD wins one too.
and indeed, the md won the title here in switzerland too;):)
george@chongwei 03-16-2009, 01:48 AM yep, i have to agree that its still a loong way to go for chong wei.
we can't deny it.
there's still some major title for him to win though:)
Pemuda 03-16-2009, 05:25 AM can we keep on talking about the "boleh" instead of individual member?

Boss, let em' kids be. Let them enjoy themselves. ;)
Jagdpanther 03-16-2009, 01:26 PM I see the mods have used their 'magic touch' here.
Ka-zaaam! :p
ctjcad 03-16-2009, 03:40 PM ..if Ka-zaaam was for deleting posts, then watch out for Ban-zaaam, that's when they start banning members..
Pemuda 03-16-2009, 10:00 PM If you're talking about government's funds, I'd say the badminton funding is one of the more effective ones. It is an important boost to the national morale. We get some Olympic medals from that. Imagine no badminton in Malaysia.
There is an uncountable number of much-much-more-expensive-yet-useless projects by the goverment.
I like it when you mentioned national morale. It is good to know I have a fellow Malaysian that is caring.
But look at the dead woods like KBH & HH we are maintaining in our badminton team today. KBH, for an example have been in the national team for 10 years. And the guy have not been performing. 10 years of non performance and we are still keeping him. It is pretty much the same with HH. We are sending these dead woods to overseas tournaments on public funds and this is boosting our national morale??
At present, many Malaysians are experiencing retrenchment, loss of income, unemployment and facing challenges when it comes to making ends meet. You are saying by sending or maintaining these underperforming shuttlers to expensive tournaments in Europe will boost these Malaysians' morale??
We also have many young Malaysians unable to pursue their studies because they dont have the money or unable to get scholarships into local universities. Or talented Malaysians having no alternatives but to migrate to seek better opportunities. Keeping a bunch of under-performing shuttlers will boost this group of Malaysians' morale?
I am not saying we ban badminton or close BAM shop. I am saying we use public funds prudently and shuttlers that under performed be weed out early. We ought to send only our best, not the entire group or what have not.
Pemuda 03-16-2009, 10:04 PM There is an uncountable number of much-much-more-expensive-yet-useless projects by the goverment.
Just because we wasted a few hundred billions of taxpayers money on other white elephant projects, it is ok for BAM to splash out on underperforming shuttlers.
hcyong 03-17-2009, 12:02 AM These deadwoods are unfortunately, one of our better players. If we don't send them out for tournaments, how would they sharpen themselves for Thomas Cup?
We already send a number of support staff to overseas tournaments, coaches, managers, therapists etc. The "deadwoods" going along will not add much to the cost. It may sound a lot to individual people, but in the context of the total government budget, it is extremely insignificant. Seriously, if you want to expand energy to save tax-payers money, there are much effective causes to take up than to stop a few badminton players from going to tournaments.
koo_fan 03-17-2009, 12:25 AM These deadwoods are unfortunately, one of our better players. If we don't send them out for tournaments, how would they sharpen themselves for Thomas Cup?
Sad to say, that was what happening.
I am sure we would have a different story to be tell now if we'd worked on it in a different way before.
We cannot alter history, so, make a new one.
Seeds like HH and KBH should be a lesson, not just a dissapointment.

Aye for this one.
Don't call badminton as a waste. It hurts.

Friend, you've got a few points there about what happening in Malaysia.. And we know there are alot of sensitive issues involved, and lots of questions.
Someone asked questions like "Why Malaysia wanna act like a hustler donate 3.5M to Gaza while other countries donated an amount on what they can afford?" :: What more with the issues you're stated above currently?
This was a question which ppl brought up which many don't know how to reply logically, then more start to come up with dumb issues, arguements etc......
So seriously... lets just talk about badminton and badminton here....
X Ball 03-17-2009, 02:49 AM LCW is just awesome, dawsome. I see more Malaysians now wanting to be involved - bring them on those detractors of LCW. :)
eaglehelang 03-17-2009, 03:37 AM These points are also currently being discussed in the Prof Players threads (read : more than 1 thread).:p
The question posed at the beginning of the thread, has been answered = 2 titles at 2009 Swiss SS.

My dear friend,
With respect, I think the problem with Malaysia and Malaysians is that everything under the sun is considered 'sensitive'.
We are discussing, debating about Malaysian badminton here. What is so 'sensitive' about that?? We are not talking about so and so being PM or so and so political parties or so and so rights/religious beliefs. At the rate we are going we might as well include badminton into our Official Secrets Act (OSA).
We are discussing how non-performing shuttlers that have been in the national squad for ages are wasting our public funds etc. Is that a sensitive subject??
If we as Malaysians are unable to sit down and discuss or even argue in a civil manner such things, I dread what we as a nation is turning into.

Mate, don't get me wrong...
Its not you, your issues are not sensitive... I got nothing against what you've mentioned..
(Its what I put up there earlier thats sensitive actually...:D)
Basically what I'm trying to say is if I were you, I wont worry so much about small matters about sending underperforming shuttlers yet... because thats a small issue..
We have bigger things to worry about in Malaysia, like where the money is going?!? Its a question for you and me Malaysians...
We can use the money to help with all the above issues that you've mentioned below right?...
"At present, many Malaysians are experiencing retrenchment, loss of income, unemployment and facing challenges when it comes to making ends meet. etc..
We also have many young Malaysians unable to pursue their studies because they dont have the money or unable to get scholarships into local universities. Or talented Malaysians having no alternatives but to migrate to seek better opportunities. etc.."
Where does the money goes instead of helping ppl above?
It goes to (fill in with what you think)...
Just an extra of my opinion to add here, not saying you're wrong.. ;)
I'd rather use the money to send 'underperforming shuttlers' (lol!) instead letting it go to (fill in with what you think)...
Sending our shuttlers out there to compete is equavalent to some of the monthly, weekly and daily incomes of corrupted dudes out there... etc etc.. and the list goes on...
Well lets just not go further.....
Coming back to badminton... My suggestion is; I think we should spend a little bit and open up to search for new talents in Malaysia... the fact that its pretty difficult to find shuttlers that has standards these days... I really hope more talents can be found... :)
