View Full Version : At Swiss Open 2009, how many titles can China win?
narnia 03-09-2009, 11:16 PM As CHN swept away all the titles in AE 2009, how many will they get in the Swiss Open 2009?? Can they do the same thing like in AE??
My speculation is at most 2(two) because of their bad lucks in Swiss. Look at the Draws (http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx?id=E70F8453-644F-4B5D-AA44-FD4C36206252)! :)

look at the MD, all 4 KOR MD are on the same side until the final LOL
all 3 KOR WD are on the same side until the final LOL
koo_fan 03-09-2009, 11:37 PM Err...my perception towards China has a little bit changed after the first All China!
So, nothing's impossible for them. The draw is 'minor' issue for this team.
But..other camps, Nothing's impossible for you too.
narnia 03-09-2009, 11:38 PM bad luck?

In a sense, you can think that's good for them to get to the Final as they are all quite new partnerships.
So what's your expectation? :)
volcom 03-09-2009, 11:38 PM Hopefully China sweeps it all again.
It's healthy for badminton
Jagdpanther 03-09-2009, 11:41 PM My prediction: The ever so great LYD and his new partner, SBC, will save the day and prevent China from sweeping all the titles.;):p

In MD, I am rather toward Koo/Tan; they had won 2007 SO title and yet the new KOR duo are not used to the speed of Koo.

Amen to that :D That's assuming of course they don't "give way" to their seniors like in the AE or get dominated by the Danish pairs ;)

The speed of Koo buying new gold chains and Gucci, Prada accessories? :D

Do you have any news about Kido/Setiawan? Can they continue match up together in the next tourney? Personally, it would be better for Setiawan to play with some other good smashers as INA have many best attackers. :)
leonardklh 03-09-2009, 11:48 PM i think china can win all titles again!!

We need WMC in WS to put some difficulties in that category.
apontoh 03-10-2009, 12:12 AM Barring any withdrawals of the top players like LD , I think China will win 4.
cooler 03-10-2009, 12:15 AM Barring any withdrawals of the top players like LD , I think China will win 4.3 or more is quite dominance enough, that equivalent to more than 50% of the titles by one country.

Three would be just average for a country having such a vast pool of full-time pro-players not like the other countries. Do you know how many senior players are registered in CHN?

No, i'm always checking with stats and draws. And based on that I predict. I've read CHN has a plenty of pro players but don't have exact number.
jasonmarc 03-10-2009, 02:39 AM Last week....in AE....Team China swept all 5 Titles ......a very impressive results...........Congratulation.....China.
This week, Swiss Open follows....with the withdrawal of some players includeing TR..........Can China repeat their result in AE.....to sweep all 5 titles again in Swiss Open....and make another history....for Big sweep in 2 back to back SS tournaments............:p
narnia 03-10-2009, 02:53 AM In 2008, KOR swept all German Open titles and two AE titles. But nobody said KOR dominated. Just like that. CHN should show consistency in the coming Series of Tourneys to prove their improvement in each category.
jasonmarc 03-10-2009, 03:03 AM The possibility for another big sweep is there...........withdrawal of TR.....increases chn chances in WS,...LD still there...a sure title....for Chn......from WD. With the absent of MK/HS, LYD/JJS........LP/JR......Chn have great chance in MD...too....... Only...have to worry in XD.....cause KOR and INA's XD....top pairs did not performed well in AE.......they might prove somethings in Swiss Open.....

As for SO, I predict china will win 3 (MS, WS & WD). With Tine withdrawing, china's chances in WS will be as good as in WD.

Check it out what you are comparing; you need to learn to read the contexts.
Why just three? What about MD and XD? CHN not got stronger to dominate all? :)
narnia 03-10-2009, 10:04 AM the answer is: about 1000 or less registered players

I got no problem reading the context, but you on the other hand, have a hard time trying to put anything into it, or else contradicting them alltogether. Have you tried the suggestion of going back and learning english or maybe have someone else translate your thought? Maybe you did and it still didn't work? My condolences...:o
Why just three? What about MD and XD? CHN not got stronger to dominate all?
Fortunately, my reasoning is still based on logic and fact. You should try it out sometimes.
bananakid 03-10-2009, 06:00 PM For once, I regreted ever defended Narnia, when a group of others were in a debate against Narnia in the thread about LYD/JJS.
After reading the last couple of threads started by this fellow, my only question is this "Narnia, are you trying to compete with me to become the most hated person in this forum or something???"..... The only one that could compete me was X Ball, before you made your presence felt.
you basically are writing non-sense, and you at the same time are trying to defend your non-sense... what's up with that?:eek:

My speculation is at most 2(two) because of their bad lucks in Swiss. Look at the Draws (http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draws.aspx?id=E70F8453-644F-4B5D-AA44-FD4C36206252)! :)
i predict china will win more titles than korea.
sumbadder 03-10-2009, 06:42 PM OT: this is such a passive-agressive thread narnia.
On Topic: I can see China taking 4 titles at least.

LOL.....this sentence basically sums it up quite nicely ;)
badMania 03-10-2009, 07:58 PM Barring any injuries to Lin Dan, it's almost guaranteed that CHN will win 3 titles this week. MD and XD are harder to get IMHO, but, Nova/Butet, Lee/Lee will have to work harder this week if they are to win the XD title. Likewise, with Paaske/Rasmussen's withdrawal, the only pair that can threaten Fu/Cai is probably Boe/Mogensen, that's provided they don't lose early. I still hope Bona/Ahsan can beat the Danes tomorrow.
jasonmarc 03-10-2009, 08:38 PM ..talk about putting pressure on the CHN's team to duplicate what they had just accomplished..;)
NO,...I think they have great mentality to handle that........not like mas players....................:D

Only Boe/Morgensen? What about the fav pair from the Boleh squad? ;)
Bona/Ahsan have to pass China's new pair of GZD/XC first before they can challenge the Danes (providing the Danes can pass the AE finalist from KOR).
INA have 4 MD pairs in the draw. I hope at the very least, 1 should made it to the SF.... :o

narnia 03-10-2009, 08:54 PM I still hope Bona/Ahsan can beat the Danes tomorrow.
I still can't understand why they won't go back to INA to recover the injuries you concerned? Is it not that serious? :)
badMania 03-10-2009, 09:52 PM At least they have real injury. Didn't realize the KOR team are now following the great LYB tactic as displayed in the WD department. Looks like your countrymen is now following the "if you can't beat them, copy them!" strategy.
Here's the headline from Kompas before the Friday match just to satisfy our KOR fan here: "Cedera saat Bertanding, Bona Diragukan Bisa Tampil Maksimal" -- translated as "Injured while playing, Bona is feared not being able to give his best performance".
Even the "great" LYD has to succumb to the pressure..."losing" to their seniors as our esteemed KOR fan here admitted in the previous thread ;)
venkatesh 03-10-2009, 10:28 PM I think China can get 3 titles..
I think so too. Men's singles are already in the bag (sorry to all LCW fans). Their Women's doubles have been consistently strong. As with their mixed? Their only threat is the Korean Olympic champions. In men's doubles ... pretty strong but has been beaten and is still beatable. In women's singles ... tough but the tide could still turn.
All in all, my bet is 3 titles.

Yeah. The worst luck for CHN in WD is that all four teams are set up in the upper half of the Draw. Let's see who's going to the Final. :)
jasonmarc 03-10-2009, 10:54 PM We need WMC in WS to put some difficulties in that category.
Yes...NO WMC, No TR........Chn will rules again...in WS...;)
narnia 03-11-2009, 12:30 AM Yes...NO WMC, No TR........Chn will rules again...in WS...;)
Especially in WS and WD,
Rather than CHN got stronger, all of a sudden, the top strong players disappeared, not participated, or getting older with only weak players left. So, now CHN can only enjoy their high-populated players after long vacancies. :)
maa2003 03-11-2009, 12:42 AM minimum 5 titles for China ..... :D
koo_fan 03-11-2009, 12:51 AM minimum 5 titles for China ..... :D
Owh..then, what's the maximum?
AlanY 03-11-2009, 03:55 AM i predict china will win more titles than korea.
i say china will win more titles than the rest of the world added together, basically it's min of 3 but sounded better, isnt' it?
leanooi 03-11-2009, 05:02 AM China will win at least 4 titles, the men & women singles, the women double and the mixed. However china has more than a 45% chance of winning the men double. So i would say at least 4 titles and a max of 5.
jutawin 03-11-2009, 07:10 AM China, don't be too greedy..
At least left 2 titles to other countries.
yen_saw 03-11-2009, 12:56 PM Be surprise if CHN get less than 3.....
