2 Djarum players are competing in the Int Series tourney:

Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka [6] and Bandar Sigit Pamungkas. Both passed their first test just now. Hayom will face Michal Meteja, while Bandar will face Sune Gavnholt [5] in 2 hrs time.

I expect them to win and progress to the QF tomorrow.

As expected, Hayom is through to the QF tomorrow after yet another easy victory. He's expected to face the top-seed Jan Vondra tomorrow. Christian Lin Thomsen [4] should then be stand between him and a Final spot.

A straight-set victory for Bandar as well. He shall await Kristian Midtgaard in the QF and possibly Sven Eric Kastens in the SF.

Jan Vondra ran out of gas in the last game against Ben Beckman of England just now... So, it will be Hayom versus Ben tomorrow... ;)

I personally think that only Christian Lin Thomsen can give big problems for Hayom in this tournament. If Hayom can beat Christian, then the title will most likely be his... ;)

OK...I didn't follow up on Jan's match :p

Indeed...Christian Lind Thomsen had beaten Hayom before, last year.

Hayom and Bandar won! :D Next round, there will be a rematch between Hayom vs. Christian Lind Thomsen, who defeated Hayom in Toulouse, France, last year...

Bandar will face Riichi Takeshita of Japan who just finished a 1 hour long marathon fight. I think Bandar will have an edge if the match is played later today (4pm Romania time)... :)

Riichi Takeshita was lucky to win the past 2 matches. Yesterday, he saved 5 match pts when facing the second-seed. Today, he saved another 1 match pt when facing the seventh-seed.

Bandar will need to be careful and need to finish the match fast. Riichi is able to catch up, as shown in the past 2 matches too. Yesterday, he was trailing 11-16 in the rubber-set, and had 5 match pts against him. Today, he trailed 8-13 in the second set, yet able to win it 21-19. In the third set, the GER player also had a 16-12 lead, only to be overtaken at the end :o

Hayom will face a tough match against Christian Lind Thomsen. The Danish player beat him in straight-set last year  Can we have an all-INA Final tomorrow?

Hayom takes the first set 21-19, despite trailing 9-14 in the first set.

Still tight matches for both players. The Danish player leads 11-10 at the interval of the second set. Meanwhile, Bandar is slightly ahead 6-3.

Bandar extends the lead to 11-3 at the interval of the second set. Barring any major collapse, he should probably seal this match. Over in the other match, it's still tit for tat as the scores are tied at 13-13.

A massive lead for Bandar at 18-4.

Bandar Sigit Pamungkas is through to the Final after a straight-set 21-19, 21-5 victory over Riichi Takeshita. He now awaits either Hayom or the Danish player.

Still 18-17 to the Danes in the second-set.

Hayom saved 2 game pts at 18-20! It's now 20-20.

As the match enters the 1 hr mark, it's still very very tight, with Hayom slightly leading 18-15. Come on...3 more pts to make it an all-INA Final!

badMania

5 match pts for Hayom at 20-15.

Yes!! Hayom eventually beat Christian Lind Thomsen in a very tight match 21-19, 21-23, 21-15. The crucial moment was at 15-15 in the rubber-set, when Hayom stormed off to take 6 straight pts to take the match!

So, it's Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka facing his team-mate Bandar Sigit Pamungkas, an all-INA Final in the Men's Singles tomorrow. Again, the Djarum contingent reaps rewards in this long trip to Romania.

I pick Hayom to win the title!

I pick Bandar Sigit Pamungkas...:cool::cool::cool:

I think Hayom has a 55% chance to win... Bandar: 45%... Bandar's skills are below Hayom's... but Bandar got an easier day today... Riichi must have nothing left in the 2nd game when he lost 5-21 to Bandar... :p

Hayom should be a better conditioned athlete than Bandar... :p This is a repeat of the 2006 Milo Junior Championship [in Batam, I think]... At that time, Bandar prevailed in rubber sets...

As I predicted, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka wins his second title of the year (after bagging the Walikota Tarakan Cup earlier this year) by beating Bandar Sigit Pamungkas in 3-sets: 16-21, 21-14, 21-12. His ranking will now increase to the top 85.

I will think that Hayom will be one of the MS players that Djarum will send to the Vietnam International Challenge and Smiling Fish Thailand International Series.
