lcw,koo/tan,wong/chin 100% will be in squad,the remain spot should be filled by who????
my list....
lcw
no need explain
cwf/ldr
if me...i will choose cwf....he is more consistence compare to others
julia wong
she should be in the squad...not just bcz she is the highest rank ws for mas....she had tat kind of fighting spirit...BUT...lack of consistence...
wong mew choo/lydia cheah
this should be determine after india open and bac/abc....wmc just recover from injury....not sure she can on form in sudirman
koo/tan
who else???we can only hope they can on form at the correct moment ie sudirman cup
zakry
i dont think will have fairuz/wong in xd,is better fairuz dont go sudirman...not to be harsh...is just....no one know when he can be hope?
mak hee chun/tan wee kiong/teo kok siang
mak hee chun is the best in back up squad....but both zakry and mak hee chun is attacker...not playmaker...so...the chance is smaller...
tan wee kiong is a net player....and he can also play xd...so...the chance is higher...
teo kok siang is the better playmaker we have in elite back up squad...
other than fairuz and these 3....rexy decision will surprise me...
wong/chin
hope chin injury recover on time...
ng hui lin/sabrina chong
bcz wkw and gly will play in xd
razif/woon khe wei
can mas afford to have koo or wong play 2 match when facing powerhouse?:rolleyes:...the answer is no...so...razif/wkw should be the better bet...
chan peng soon/goh liu ying
if both concentrate in xd....they can acheive more than they can now...:o

MS = LCW, reserve = 1 back-up MS (CWF/Daren)
WS = Julia Wong/WMC, reserve = Lydia Cheah
MD = KKK/TBH, Zakry Latif
WD = WPT/CEH, reserve = NHL
XD = Razif Latif/WKW
It'll be taxing for KKK or WPT to play 2 departments, so Msia should send one of the elit back-up XD. NHL can replace CEH if she's injured & double up in XD if needed.
Doubles dept, they can mix & match like TC & Uber, but on the same day, preferably, play 1 match only, i.e. if KKK/NHL plays XD, then Zakry/TBH play MD.

Samuel, you'll never know. IN 2007 Surdirman, they gave chance to TWK/WKW in XD, to give them exposure.
So, maybe this time, Lim Khim Wah also can go, partner back NHL.;)
I didnt list LKW cos personally I think Razif can double up better in MD, if needed. I'll like to see Razif partner his big bro.
In singles, as I recall in 2007, Msia only sent 1 reserve. Only 1 MS & WS match.

Errrr, In 2007 also they sent 10, official reason is budget constraint. It doesnt mean confident, it means they dont expect to win or go far in Surdirman, so sending the minimum.
MS = LCW + 1 reserve
WS = WMC + 1 reserve
MD = 2 players
WD = 2 players
XD = 2 players
Total = 10, the last reserve to come from doubles dept. If any doubles player injured, then the XD player will have to play MD or WD also, much like a finals of a tourney, mixed played 1st, doubles last.

Likely to be KBH and HH.
KBH has some muscles to show now which means he's working.He has stretched TH and BCL to 3 games, a clear indication of steady progress.As long as he continues to work harder and have more exposure to hone his tactics,he's due to create upsets.Fred also has to work on him to stay focussed and maintain confidence during a match.
TCS is not quite there yet. Still at the awkward stage of playing well one tournament and crashing out the next.(That's normal pattern but Rashid and some MAS fans do not seem to know.)Inconsistency is the stage before consistency.Still long way to reach consistency,maybe 2 more years of continued opportunities.
HH is ok for SC because SC does not involve matches every day.But HH should not be allowed to compete in SS at the expense of Rashid's boys.Just play in GP Gold until he wins a GP Gold title.That will be his passport to SS.If he can't win a title, then let him continue to feel lonely and work harder in the gym.High time he understands he has to slog for his place to be in the SS queue behind Rashid's boys.

Based on the latest performance, I have to agree Kuan Beng Hong should be given another chance as he seems to play more aggressive and pro-active. As for Hafiz, I don't deny he has better talent but his attitude still the same, "tak apa"(doesn't matter), you just don't know what trick shots is he going to use to kill himself, sometime I wonder shouldn't that also be the responsibility of the coaches to remind him not to use those low percentage shots? I think if KBH continue to work hard then I will not be surprise to see good results, I am not sure about Hafiz though.

Yes, KBH sort of gives you that impression that he could have been an LCW but somehow it went terribly wrong because probably he lacked a strong attitude. I hope there is enough time for him to come back again - very hard to tell because they are at an age where they can just give it all up easily.
He should take LCW as the benchmark and try to emulate LCW's work rate - in fact all of them should. LCW is a very good example for everyone to follow -- they must train like this guy. I am pretty sure this is an advantage for BAM - to use him as the guideline for others.

Agree.That's why HH should not be sent to SS level until he wins a GP Gold title. He has to know that if he cannot win a GP/Gold title, he is no longer competitive enough.In that case, better to pay him to be a high class sparring partner.He said he lost enough to reach his ideal weight after gym work.Well, he has to do better than that.Weight is not a good reference of fitness.In IO,he looked as toned as a WS.MS usually has muscles to show for fitness and strength.He would look leaner and may weigh more if he has more muscle content since muscle is denser than fat.Doesn't the NSI educate MAS players on sports science basics? Maybe HH still cannot comprehend.

apart from te choosen ones .. only 3 more will be selected ......maybe BAM really feels the "heat " global economy crisis...
I am not sure about selecting TCS for MS backup. If Malaysia is serious about hunting this title, we need to have depth with experience just in case someone is injured. I think Kuan Beng Hong is more suitable candidate with his current form and desire attitude even though he fumbled before in Thomas Cup, I think he had learn that experience. TCS is just too raw to tackle this task if he's call upon, I am afraid.
I also like Hafiz but his yo-yo still swinging make me shy away. I hope BAM select KBH as reserve.

I think the biggest reason why Habis tend to lose is because he does not have the urgency to win. Just look at his match in India Open. There is no initiative to go the net early, just keep on lifting from a low position and get his ass smash. He is too lazy to move fast and get into a good position which by the way he can do ( check out his match in Thomas Cup 02 ). I was surprise he even won over Chen Long and Andre.

By LIM TEIK HUAT
PETALING JAYA: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) served a surprise yesterday, opting for Tan Chun Seang to join world number one Lee Chong Wei as the men’s singles representatives in the squad for the Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships, which begin in Guangzhou on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Chun Seang was picked ahead of seasoned shuttlers Kuan Beng Hong and Mohd Hafiz Hashim. It will be the first appearance in a major team competition for Chun Seang, who is one of the four elite back-up players under the charge of Rashid Sidek.
Chun Seang was never in the running for a place in the team due to his inconsistent performance.
BAM president Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Salleh, who chaired the selection meeting yesterday, said: “The preference is for a younger player this time. Compared to Chun Seang, Beng Hong is 26 while Hafiz is already 27.
“We wanted to expose a younger player and that was the reason for Chun Seang’s inclusion.
“It will be a good learning process and I am sure Chun Seang will be eager to give his best if he is fielded.”
Chun Seang reached the quarter-finals in the India Open last month after beating two higher-ranked players in Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam and Anup Sridhar of India.
However, he lost to Hong Kong’s Ng Wei in the first round of the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in South Korea the following week.
Besides Chun Seang, women’s singles shuttler Julia Wong and men’s doubles player Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari were also picked from the reserve list for the trip to Guangzhou.
The others in the squad are Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong (men’s doubles), Wong Mew Choo (women’s singles), Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty (women’s doubles) and Ng Hui Lin (mixed doubles).
Nadzmi also laid to rest speculations that Malaysia would give the Sudirman Cup a miss due to the A (H1N1) flu outbreak.
There were fears that the championships would be postponed after some countries expressed reservations about travelling to Guangzhou due to its proximity to Hong Kong, where there have been confirmed cases.
“We have checked with the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the event will proceed as planned.
“On our part, we will be working closely with the staff from the National Sports Institute and will take all the necessary precautions.
“The risk elements are certainly there but we will try not to expose the players unnecessarily,” he added.
Malaysia are banking on the 10-member team to reach the semi-finals of the championships for the first time.
Malaysia have been grouped with Denmark (top seeds), South Korea and Hong Kong. Defending champions China are in the other Division One group with Indonesia, Japan and England.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The team will be leaving for Guangzhou tomorrow.
For the record, Malaysia secured their best finish when they claimed sixth place in the last competition in Glasgow two years ago.
