31 Australia Oceania
32 USA Pam Am
33 South Africa Africa
Asia 13
Pan Am 1
Oceania 1
Europe 17
Africa 1
Total: 33
It seems to me that there is too much lop-sidedness in the categories.
Imagine the following countries not having opponents in their zones to fight for qualification, which I presume others in Asia and Europe had to:
Pan Am 1
Oceania 1
Africa 1
compared to
Asia 13
Europe 17
If the arrangement is unfair, then BWF should re-organize the zones to make it more equitable.
This will then enhance the competition and raise standards in countries where they need do almost nothing to qualify. But of course once they enter the main competition, they will most probably be knocked out just as fast.

Isn't Xu Chen and Guo Zhengdong in the team as well?
suetyan 04-11-2009, 07:19 PM Isn't Xu Chen and Guo Zhengdong in the team as well?
I think he missed one pair, Xu Chen/Guo Zhendong is in the list. LYB sends 4 individuals/3 pairs to Sudirman, and out of the 4 individuals of each event, only three will be participate in the tournament, the unlucky fourth person is accompany to practice. For the 3 pairs also, only 2 pairs will participate, the third pair is accompany to practice

So, you are saying CL is unlucky to be chosen over LY, GWJ, WK & DPY, aren't you? So is WYH?
They should be considering themselves lucky to be part of the team despite not playing considering the limited entries chosen from a pool of talented players.

I think China know what they're doing.

Korea sends the youngster Kim Moon Hi in WS?? Where is Bae Youn Joo? I think Bae plays better than Kim. And, where is Hong Ji Hoon?? Has he been replaced by Jang Young Soo who performed quite well in ABC?

Yeah, so surprise they choose Kim Moon Hi not BYJ. Also former World Junior Champ HJH is out of the list (under-par performance in BAC?!). Looks like the weakest link of Korean team is WS.
suetyan 04-14-2009, 01:30 AM Yeah, so surprise they choose Kim Moon Hi not BYJ. Also former World Junior Champ HJH is out of the list (under-par performance in BAC?!). Looks like the weakest link of Korean team is WS.
totally agree with this :D

It's ok. They can give WS away and still win.In SC ,just win 3 events and the team wins,so KOR has a decent chance.
ctjcad 04-14-2009, 02:03 AM how about ina... ?
..seeding or the squad members??..if squad members, post #14 has the list..And sorry, despite popular demands from BCers to include the Wild Child of Badminton and other veterans in the squad, PBSI is setting its realistic sight and sending their younger players..
event 04-14-2009, 08:48 AM Korea sends the youngster Kim Moon Hi in WS?? Where is Bae Youn Joo? I think Bae plays better than Kim. And, where is Hong Ji Hoon? Has he been replaced by Jang Young Soo who performed quite well in ABC?Kim is two years older than Bae. Bae is the youngster. She has played well against some top players (Jiang in All England and Zhu Lin last week) but the only top players she's ever beaten are the two from Thailand . Kim has beaten Wang Yihan twice, if not recently. Hong Ji Hoon lost both his matches at the Thomas Cup last year and hasn't had any big upsets aside from Wong Choong Hann. Jang is the most experienced player on the national team.
tommy_bun 04-14-2009, 10:38 AM . Kim has beaten Wang Yihan twice,.
as far as I can remember,Kim beats Yihan only one time at JPN 2007 qualification round,...
suetyan 04-14-2009, 11:19 AM as far as I can remember,Kim beats Yihan only one time at JPN 2007 qualification round,...
hmm, Yihan also defeated Kim before, in last year world university championship.
event 04-14-2009, 07:24 PM as far as I can remember,Kim beats Yihan only one time at JPN 2007 qualification round,...hmm, Yihan also defeated Kim before, in last year world university championship.Yes, yes. You're both correct. I misread the result of their first ever meeting, in the 2005 AJC. That was Wang's first of 5 wins over Kim, who won only that one match in 2007.
george@chongwei 04-15-2009, 02:37 AM as far as I can remember,Kim beats Yihan only one time at JPN 2007 qualification round,...
AFAIK and remember, Kim is very tall:D
suetyan 04-15-2009, 02:49 AM AFAIK and remember, Kim is very tall:D
yup, she is taller than WYH. I think her height is around 180-182cm

source : KOMPAS (April 14, 2009)Oddly, this list is correct but the one on the tournament website (http://www.gzba.org/sdm/Show_en.asp?id=246) has 2 errors. Instead of Jang Young Soo (http://www.internationalbadminton.org/player_info.asp?playerid=50955), it shows Jang Soo Young (a real person, who plays women's singles (http://www.internationalbadminton.org/player_info.asp?playerid=52782)) but as a male. It also has Jang's BWF ID wrong, showing it as 50995, instead of
50955 (http://www.internationalbadminton.org/player_info.asp?playerid=50955)
http://internationalbadminton.org/flags/KOR.gif JANG Young Soo
tranqq 04-30-2009, 11:43 AM where is Ko Sung Hyun for Korea? I really like the pairing of ko/yoo and if lyd/jjs are playing together they have 2 great doubles pairs. i thought jjs was conscripting into the army? is he done his service time already?
