I've been playing badminton for the past 7 years, but during the last 2-3 years go serious about it. I currently am using a MP99 2U G5. I asked for the 3U one but my parent's friend made a mistake.

anyways, I am quite offensive, I will smash whenever i have a chance to so yea..

the rackets i looked at are MP100 3U, ARC 10, nanospeed 9000. How would these rackets compare to my MP99 now? I don't have my racket with me right now, but i believe i have 22lb string on my MP99 don't rmb the model of it though,

any imput would be great!
thanks in advance,

Patrick

i think the only true step up would be the MP100. You should just stay with the 99, since its a good racket with power to spare.

hmm, I wouldn't be looking for a new racket if my MP99 was 3U. So the MP100 is better than ARC 10 and nanospeed 9000?

but if you recommend me to stay with the MP99 maybe i'll buy the MP99 3U version?

I think the 2U MP99 is a good smashing racket. The other 3 rackets you mentioned will give you similar performance.

hmm but after using my friends 3U i could def play alot better with it and my smashes seem more powerful? I def get more stamina with the 3U racket

if the 3U is better than 2U for you then go for it. But make sure that the string and tension was the same when testing both rackets.

patrickkc

hmm, i'm not sure what string my friend had but i think it was strung at 22lbs too.

So I think i will go for the MP99 3U unless the MP100 price isn't far too differnt.

now i have another question, what string should i use and how much lbs should i put it at?

o also, where can i get a MP99 3U / MP100 in Toronto? i checked the Lee's proshop canada and they only carry the MP99 2U and thats the only MP they have

thanks,
patrick

wat about a 3u/4u armortec 900 power that packs a serious punch when smashing
If I'm right I was on holiday in Toronto on January and remember a shop called maxsports that had the 900 power

patrickkc

hmm i've never looked into that racket before I'll go check out some review thanks for your input

Any time : D
I reckon you would improve your smashing power by 10 - 20%
There is a review from ants and he knows his stuff

the armotec 900 is $285CDN here at the lees proshop! thats one expesnive racket =\

yeah but it's worth it + I have seen it for £109.99 Inc. Free restring on tennisnuts.com I don't know how that converts in to cd dollars + try max sports and if it's still to expensive try a armortec 700 they have pretty good smash as well and are slightly cheaper about £15

patrickkc
04-05-2009, 03:06 PM
max sports is cheaper at $245, there is 2 versions of the racket, technique and power? just wondering the differnce and what string i should go with if i purchase it

thanks

edit**
The 900 at Max sports is the 3U for $245 for power/tech
The 900 at Lees is 4U for $285 power/tech

hi I have a 900 technique and it's mostly for defensive players the 900p is for offensive players who like to smash they are both very manueverable I reckon using either bg80s or bg65ti will do the job strung at 24lbs

patrickkc
04-05-2009, 03:17 PM
okay, thanks for the replies I will look into that racket. So the MP99 or MP100 I shouldn't get those? and your rackets are they the 3U or 4U? i think the 4U $285 is very expensive. With tax it would cost me $322

04-05-2009, 03:22 PM
the 3u I reckon would be fine + why can't u order through the uk for £109 inc restring and that one is 4u
Sorry to answer your question mine is 4u but the 3u version I have tried and it should be alot more durable even though I haven't had any probles myself or heard of problems + I got a 6 month warranty which gave me peace of mind and makes you think that yonex are very confident in their racquets durability

patrickkc

i have heard about ordering and rackets online and being broken/ cracked during delivery so i don't really want to order online. I would much rather go pick it up myself.

No, IMO you should certainly consider the MP99/100. If you're happy with everything but the weight of the MP99, why not just buy a lighter MP99? Both the AT900P and T are great attacking rackets (despite the T standing for technique, it's still one of the most head heavy, attacking Yonex rackets) but the MP99 obviously works for you, despite 2U being a bit heavy. A 3U MP99 could well be the sweetspot.

my racquet came from America as I ordered it online it it was perfect + tennisnuts.com say that once you have inspected it you then pay for it an you don't pay a dime till then

patrickkc
04-05-2009, 03:43 PM
hmm you could be right too. If shipping wasnt a problem i was just on tennisnut.com and their AT900P is only £109.99 and when you convert it, it is around $182 CDN,that is almost $100 off from buying them at shops here in canada!

+ you get a free restring with your choice between any yonex string

patrickkc
04-05-2009, 03:53 PM
so i should have my racket all strung out then shipped from the UK to Toronto instead of doing the stringing here? also anybody ordered from them before from Toronto? anybody know if i would be charged taxes?? and how well was the wrapping? i'm worried about it being damaged during the hsipping

my coach had his arcsaber 10 bought from tennisnuts and it was extremly well wrapped it was covered with the leather case+ had bubble wrap on top + polystyrene

Nah it is £109 it's just you have to put your mouse over the picture or add it to basket otherwise it will show rrp if u add to baker it will show £109

Tax and string of your choice are included at $245 from Maxsports.
So, the total you pay is $245 period.

oo I see.. thanks!

I asked Lees about the MP99 3U and it is $235 w/strings

and since the AT900P is $245 w/strings there is only $10 difference.

with this $10 difference are the 2 rackets VERY different? also is the MP100 3U also in the $235-245 price range or maybe $250ish? It sounds improbable since the MP99 is 235 but looking at some review the MP100 really isn't that much more expensive

AT900P head is very heavy compared to the Mp99.
MP-99 is discontinued. Their Specs are different.
The MP100 Fetches a higher Price as a Premium for buying it. It was a popular racket i believe.

patrickkc
04-06-2009, 12:20 AM
oo so the head for the AT900P is very heavy compared to the MP99? eventhough the MP99 i have right now is 2U i should find the AT900P alot light right?

It wont feel much lighter, because the head is heavy, but in reality, yes, it is much lighter. the MP-99 will probably feel the same weight or slightly heavier, depending on whether you get a 4U or 3U AT900P

patrickkc
04-06-2009, 12:31 AM
it will be the 3U version of the AT900P. So the AT900P will "feel" heavier than the MP99 3U? but the AT900P will still be considerably a lot lighter than my MP99 2U?

LD rules!
04-06-2009, 04:52 AM
Nah I doubt it the mp99 was head heavy as well but slightly less than the at900p I reckon that the at900p at 3u will be just the same as it isat 4u but from it being slightly heavier but more durable and yes it will be lighter than your 2u mp99 by up to 9g

patrickkc
04-06-2009, 03:16 PM
So I will definately feel the difference between my MP99 2U and AT900P despite the AT900P being head heavy, I will still find the AT900P alot lighter?

04-06-2009, 03:25 PM
I should think so yes

patrickkc
04-06-2009, 05:01 PM
If this is the case, and AT900P is a more offensive racket than the MP99 then I am probably leaning towards the AT900P.

So far, the cheapest place for the AT900P 3U w/ strings in Toronto is $245 at MaxSports

....

nevermind, I just emailed Mandarine and they said the AT900P 4U is $230

I say if you are willing to pay $230 dollars, go with an Arc 10. It's a great racket, but I do have to agree both the MP99 and 100 are good also. An average MP100 is gonna be around $180-200 USD.

patrickkc
04-06-2009, 09:04 PM
Arc 10, hmm how would the Arc 10 be compared to the AT900P? from what people say, since I'm an offensive player the AT900P would be better for me because I smash alot? also, I can't find anywhere that carries teh Mp100 anymore. Lee's stopped carrying it 2-3 years ago.

Right now it is Mandarine, AT900P 4U $230 w/ BG66 (I emailed if I could get BG 65 Ti but havn't gotten a reply yet) Also I asked about the area code the racket is gonna be and havn't gotten an answer yet.

Max Sports, AT900P 4U $245 w/ BG65 Ti (BG65, BG65 Ti, BG70 PRO, BG80 and NGY95) I honestly don't know which one is better and the area code for this racket is CD

04-07-2009, 04:13 AM
the arc 10 is either 3u or 3u it I'd a very good racquet but I have heard from people that it takes people a long time to get use to unlike the mp99 or at900p it is not as head heavy so if you want a smooth transaction to you next racquet I reckon the at900p is better not only this but the arc 10 is far too rigid for 95% of people as you need a strong wrist If you want to use it

patrickkc
04-07-2009, 12:26 PM
yup, I am going to go with the AT900P, but just deciding in what string to use and how many lbs I should have it strung to.

what are you currently using
+ I recommend bg 65ti or bg 80
Whatever you choose I hope you enjoy your racquet and have many fun games

thanks for all your help LD rules! I think I am going to stick with BG65 Ti, unless what people say that nanongy 95 is good for smashing. I get free stringing from Max Sports anyways. I will read up on the strings forum the next couple days to decide what string/tension to use.

Thanks for everybody that gave in their input!

cheers,
Patrick

the nanogy 95 are very good in their first 1-2 weeks of playing however they wear away very quickly and lose their power the BG65ti are probaly the best unless you have deep pockets!
+ I'm happy to be of help have good fun smashing your way to victory remember to let us know how you get on with it !

I don't have the best of knowlodge when it comes to yang yang however I reckon the yang yang nano sensation 100 I reckon would suit you as it provides power yet maintains alot of control hope this helps !
It is $129.99 on the yang yang website
