View Full Version : Mid-end rackets

I am an beginner/intermediate player who is looking for a mid-end very durable racket, yet powerful.

I've gone through a couple cheap wilsons, and a AT500. The AT500 was too head heavy for me at the time and I had some trouble clearing/smashing, and one very very sad and unlucky day, I threw it on the floor accidentally. BEGINNERS DON'T BUY HIGH END RACKETS JUST CAUSE OTHER PEOPLE SAY THEY'RE GOOD. Learn more about them before you buyy...:crying: But I've definitely gotten a lot stronger and hundred times more careful. Not too long ago, I bought a MP-7 and I hit the rim so much on this racket(it's a lot shorter than the 500) and only have a few tiny chips. Which to me was an interesting change. The MP-7 is 2U, but I was able to clear and smash pretty easily with it. So I'm guessing that I'm a medium stiff player.

I would like to have a lighter racket, but keep the same power and consistency. I am now looking at the AT's again plus the MP-22 which is the next step up on the MP line, and and I would like to know where I should look.

P.S. THE STORES IN MY AREA ONLY HAVE A SOME VICTOR AND KASON RACKETS AND MOST OF YONEX.

Stores in my are don't carry SOTX and I don't planning on ordering online. Something about having to wait for the shipping bothers me. Any other recommendations??

I kinda forgot to include this, but I'm generally a smashing player. I also enjoy playing defense from time to time and driving. I'm pretty serious about playing, even though I'm only playing at a high school level.

if you order from MBS it will only take 2-3days for shipping so have a look there.

There are many people from this forum that buy from them and they are very legit. If i remember correctly the difference is only the paint job colour

hey phandrew, you're recommending W8 to me based on what?
The site calls it Power Boss Woven 8, if I'm not mistaken, correct?
Very lame name imho, but it's the racket, not the name I'm buying. ;]

Thanks for responding by the way. The only person anyhow. HAha.

I can't order online, so someone please recommend me a racket within the US market for Yonex, Victor, and Kason. Thanks.

if u still want head heavy, stick with yonex's AT series, Yonex's nano is balance that might fit you more.

btw whats your price range, it'll help us narrow down for you :D

Oh, right. Sorry. Something around 100. I'm looking for attacking racket, but not like the 500. I would like more balance with a little head heavy.

Like phandrew said, try sotx. www.ibuysports.com is based in so-cal and ive had great experience with them. Try the woven 7, plays like a stiff 2u ti10. Price is about $90 if i recall correctly. If you're in bay area ill let you demo one of mine and sell it to ya if you want. Where in cali are you located?

I'm not interested in buying outside of retail unless I know you in person. Thanks for the offer though.

Is there a Yonex equivilant to the woven 8??

Id say the ns9k is close to the woven 8. Stiff racket about even balance, but has fair power if you put some wrist snap into it. too bad ns9k is still $150+ :P Maybe At250 would be good for you, i think its still over 100 usd. There arent many yonex rackets for under/around unfortunately. Maybe wait for Dinks PPP? I really suggest trying other brands. IMO Yonex rackets have a lower build quality than most other brands out there and they charge a premium for being the biggest company in badminton.

If you're in norcal id recomend badminton alley or g1, g2, or bay badminton to demo rackets. Wilson has some goodies, Ktour which I think is phasing out from 08 should be 125ish or less in stores. and i think its being replaced by the Kbrave which is also good and bout 135 and theres also the krival.

What's Dinks PPP? Racket chart?

At first I considered MP, but now I'm considering NS...I don't know. And on top of that I'm considering wilson.

1) Where are you in Cali?
2) I know the owner of www.ibuysports.com and many of us has had great experience with him. I will personally back him up.
3) If you are still looking for a YY, I would suggest you to try NS800. However, no mater what, try or demo before you buy.
Good luck

I'm from the bay area. I understand that these sites are reliable, but I can't buy from them. I'm not the one with the money. :/
I was looking into NS500, because it's a little head heavy + balanced.
Thanks for the advice.
