Well....since european players are much less talked about than the asians....just wanna open up this thread for discussing the progress and news of the european badminton world....as we all know badminton is pretty much dominated by the asians.....we can only hope that in the future more european countries will produce new and good badminton players that will be able to match the asians....so far....the russians seem to be on the right track to become a new force in badminton....and I realise that this junior MS player from portugal of all places called pedro martins might be on the right track to become the future top european player...he was the runner up at both the dutch and german juniors I think....losing to more fancied malaysian opponents in the finals going down in 3 games...impressive....

Kasper Lehikoinen should be focused in the future.
He is very talented too.
Maybe he will get a good position in world ranking 10-20...

Matthias Borg of Sweden is also a very good player along with Jamie Van Hoonjidonk of Wales - JVD and also Pedro Martins are both in the EPOF (SOTX)

SOTX Team Europe 2012 is a long-term development programme established by Badminton Europe which brings players together from all over the continent. When the Olympic Games return to Europe for London 2012 it is hoped that European athletes will be challenging for the medals in the badminton event. The SOTX Team Europe 2012 programme has been created to increase the level of the most talented junior players in Europe

From a tournament i was at MB and JVD were in the final, it was quite close i believe and a 3 game match. MB won but both players looked very promising. However as Limsy said PM is unbeaten in the Europe team championship and is doing very well in tournaments - my bet is if anyone was to make it big it would be him. MB seems to "have his days" but I believe I read on this forum that in the European Junior Championships he didn;t play a particularly brilliant game.

Lianne Tan (Female) of Belgium also looks like she can compete with some good players

..he is still relatively young, but approaching his late 20s (only 26 y.o. as of now). But then again, European, to be specific Danish, players tend to last & still play competitively into their late 20s, early 30s..

Jan Ø Jørgensen is 21 (born 87), Vittinghus is 23 (born 86). Even Joachim Persson is younger than Peter Mikkelsen, as JP is only 25, turning 26 next month (born 83).
