I chance upon a new MP88 (old stock i guess) selling for S$180.
Dun know whether to buy that or buy a new AT600 (close to MP88 as most mentioned).
See that MP88 can only string up to 20lbs only ...whereas AT600 can go up to 24lbs .

Pls advise me ....

MP88 is discontinue model. Nice to collect it.

It can string higher than 20 lbs for sure. But if u string higher than the recommendation range, the warranty is voided.

Hmmmm to be honest I am trying to buy an mp88 now - although it is very hard because they have discontinued it.

You can string the mp88 much higher than 20lbs , but this is risky because the mp88 is a very fragile racket.

In the end its your choice - which one do you prefer?

I think its only subtle differences though.

For me, the MP88 is not worth S$180. I have not played it and is unlikely to like it because I prefer a stiffer racket.

If you previously tried and loved the racket, the price may be worth it for you. However, if you are just looking for a similar racket, a flexible 4U from another brand can be had for less. Otherwise, the AT600 may just be a suitable up to date alternative.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Well the MP88 in 4U would be fragile, however for 3U it should be fine. Can go up to 26 lbs easily. But as for getting one for using it probably not, but going for collector's item, yep!!

Go for an Arc7 for an MP88 instead, you might like it.

if you are gonna play it, there's no need to consider collection. I respect collectors who don't string & keep the original wrap intact. That's collector's mentality.

:D . The hardest thing for them must be not to touch it :D.

I will start my collection soon :D

btw konafan, if you are thinking of buying the at600 because you think it's closer to MP88, let me tell u that the closest to MP88 is actually ArcSaber 9 :D

Well people from shops have told me that the Armrotec 600 was supposed to be the "new" Mp 88.

I think the Armortec 600 is more like the MP88.

Stiffness : MP88<Armortec600<Arc9
Head Heavyness : MP88<Armortec 600 < Arc 9 ?

I think. The arc 7 I'm not sure about - it is stiff , but also balanced - but it is close to the mp88.

I didn't know people collected racquets like collector's items. I'd have a hard time not using a racquet - kinda defeats the purpose of having it no? Also, my 2 cents on this topic is go for the MP 88. You can always get an AT600 at some later date if you really want to. MP 88 is a great double's racquet, especially if you have a longer swing.
