If the seedings for WC 2009 are to be made according to the rankings by 30 April 2009, LD can meet LCW as early as semi-finals. I'm not sure if this is what CHN plans but it's definitely not MAS expects.

Yes but this is hypothetical as the seedings aren't based on the 16th April right?
When are they based on?

The drawing will be held on 21 July 2009 based on 16 July world ranking to determine seeds. Some bdm tourneys before 16 July are Sudirman Cup, SIN SS, INA SS, Malaysia GP Gold and US Open GP. I guess LCW and LD will be top-two seeds in world-meet...

Oh LD is already third
well, with his tempo participating in tournaments this year he would be even lower, despite winning AE, WC and so on
will be some kind of Sampras in 1998-2000..
What happens now at big badminton world? where do all stars play? i see there are no stable tournaments before WC:mad:

It appears that China has moved its pieces well.
As it stands, Lee Chong Wei will have Chen Jin for company in his half.
As for Lin Dan, he gets the less-threatening Peter Gade in his half.
Trust Li Yongbo to get the 'calculations' right most of the time :o

Err....it might not be the case. Lin Dan can still face Chen Jin in the bottom half of the draw. The position of the 3rd and 4th seeds are randomly chosen.

For example:
In the WC 2007, Lin Dan [1] and Bao Chunlai [4] are in the top half, while Lee Chong Wei [2] and Chen Jin [3] are in the bottom half.

Is that so?
I assumed it would be an automatic 1&3 and 2&4?
And wouldn't that be the 'fairer' way to do it?
(Not that such machinations are ethical and 'fair' :p)

The lower the ranking for LD, that spells grief for anyone meeting him early, any volunteer?:D. I still pick LD to win. When the chips are high, LD will show up, after all it's a major. Then again, DLCW has been playing very well lately and India with the small 4000 seat stadium may be a good neutral place for LCW than the pressure dome of MAS. Just avoid the food and water;)

I still think when WC09 rolls around, LD will be the one to beat. If that is the WC09 draw as you shown, for Datuk to dance one more time with LD in final...well, 'possible', 'probable', 'quite likely', 'looking good' but not 'indeed', cos pretty boy Bao Bao, Tien, Park are not easy customers especially Bao Bao, if the Indian gals root for him...but I hope you are right though cos I never get tired watching these 2 fellas play, just hope it will be entertaining and not a rout.

But LCW probably will have NTM in his half.....he has to past NTM first...;)
Not to forget...BCL who still playing strongly with his knee injury.....
PSH who cant beat anyone in his day.........
TH who so determine to win WC for the 2nd time..........
and possible early clash with LD....................

Had everything according to plan (barring any X-factor),
will LD face LCW at SF?
time will tell,
besides we must still wait until draws finally out
The top seed (WR #1):
2 for MAS (MS and WD)
1 for INA (MD)
1 for KOR (XD)
1 for HK (WS)
will they claim their status and clinch the gold?

I have no special feelings for that. If those two are really levels above other players, then 3/4 of all players would be extra happy about that.
we can assume all the half in Chen Jin's half should be happy because they have already successfully avoided LD and LCW, but the fact is that Chen Jin just beat Lin Dan twice in their most recent encounters.
LCW has a tendency that he usually did pretty well when people do not expect him much. But in big games, LCW typically failed short to people's expectations.
Unlike LCW, LD usually delivers, he can often satisfy people's expecations. When people got bored his continues winning, he can always manage to lose a couple.
Chen Jin is always a little bit short to expectations.
what Gade can provide is just good memory, people always got surprised that he's still there, also highly ranked, but few still take him seriously.
Taufik is totally unpredictable.
