The Badminton World Federation, the sport’s ruling body, has given security clearance for the world championships to be staged in India in August.

Security consultants inspected the venue in the southern city of Hyderabad in February and the BWF gave the all clear after the report was presented to its executive board last month. The championships will take place from Aug 10to 16.

Security in the sub-continent has been called into question following the ambush of the Sri Lanka cricket team bus in Lahore, Pakistan last month, which killed seven Pakistanis and wounded six players.

Hyderabad staged an incident-free India Open last month where Indonesia’s former world and 2004 Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat won the men's title. However security concerns of playing in India still remain

Last month Lord Coe, the London 2012 chairman, said that next year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi should go ahead as planned.

Meanwhile, Tennis Australia has requested the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to switch the May 8-10 Asia-Oceania zonal Davis Cup tie scheduled in Chennai out of India over security concerns.

The Australian Commonwealth Games Association has also raised concerns over sending the contingent to next year's games in New Delhi in the wake of the attack in Lahore.

I hope it'll go as smooth as we wished.
