I have heard quite a few people recommend to other to get a good book on tactics or training.

Would anyone care to recommend a few with title and author, as I have found decent books very hard to come by.

Most books seem focused on beginners, not immediate/advanced players wanting to take their games to the next level.

I am a Division 1 player in my County, but I have not been able to step up my game and get asked to play in the County team which is what I really want.

I do not have the money to afford a coach, and so I could really do with some books to guide me in training, drilling, tactics etc

I am sure there are others in similar positions

Come on all you bookworms, tell us about the books that are real gems.

Regards

Mark

Since you asked, Jake Downey published many books

amongst them" winning badminton singles' in 80's.Of course

they are dated but some things basically the same.Maybe copy

available in some library. As for training Han Jian 's book quite

helpful, why not email some of the internationals who frequently

participate in Chinabadminton.com forum?

When it comes to training and footwork, here's a good book:
"Physical Training for Badminton" by Bo Omosegaard and Lars Tindholdt. You can get this via Amazon or the IBF web site.

I have that book. It has been quite useful.
It may be so old now that it is out of print.

Omosegaard's book has a huge amount of info on the physiology of badminton, plus the kind of fitness training players need. I recommend Han Jian's book also. There is no overlap of topics, and Han Jian has long discussions of footwork and strategy.

how about Badminton: The Skills of the Game by Trade Paperback? This book can be found in Borders.com.

Is the Han Jian book in English? If so, Marshall, where did you obtain your Han Jian book? I have looked on Amazon.com, Borders.com, Barnesnoble.com and did several general internet searches for the book or the author, but came up with nothing. Anyone know where this book might be obtained in the U.S.?

Thanks
