Isteri Rexy Mainaky cedera diragut, suspek ditahan
- Bernama

It's done Terry. Errr, for those who dont understand Malay, the article basically says :
Rexy's wife's handbag was snatched by 2 men on motorcycle. Rexy & his wife, Henny were walking back to their car after eating at a restaurant, at abt 11 pm, Friday nite.
Rexy gave chase(presumably in his car), knocked the bike, the pillian (?, long time didnt use, forgot how to spel this word, hehe) rider fell down the bike, the public detained the thief, the motorcyclist got away. Means they caught 1 guy.
Rexy's wife sustained light injuries on her left arm due to being pulled along when they snatched her bag.
From the description sounds like : they came, snatched, she wouldnt let go, the bike speed off, her arm injured due to impact. It didnt say whether she fell down or not, normally ppl will if the bike speed fast.

Thanks eaglehelang....
here is the english news from NST
KUALA LUMPUR, Sat:
National badminton head coach Rexy Mainaky's wife suffered injuries when dragged by two snatch thieves in Ampang, last night.
Cheras police chief ACP Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim said during the 11pm incident, Rexy and his wife Henny were walking to their car from a restaurant at Ampang City here when two assailants on a motorcycle tried to grab her hand beg.
He told Bernama that Rexy's wife was injured when she tussled with her assailant who tried to snatch her hand beg, causing her to be dragged and suffered minor injuries to her left arm.
Rexy, who displayed tremendous fighting spirit during his heydays as a doubles player, however, refused to be beaten by the assailants and jumped into his car and chased the suspects before knocking the motorcycle, causing the pillion rider to fall off.
Ahmad Amir said passers-by who saw the incident quickly apprehended the fallen suspect while his accomplice who was riding the motorcycle, fled the scene.
He added that the 33-year-old, suspect had six previous records for molest, drugs and Restricted Residence Act offences.
"He will be remanded for four days to facilitate investigation," said Ahmad Amir, adding that police were looking for his accomplice, aged 40.
Meanwhile, Henny received treatment at the Gleneagles Ampang. - Bernama

Malaysia is beginning to look more like a lawless country. We read about gun battles between gangsters and the police almost every week. The gangsters have the gall to switch their 'working hours' from late night hours to peak office hours now. They also have these mad hells angels who terrorize everyone on the road. Snatch thieves on motor cycles rob pedestrians with impunity. What is happening?

sad case indeed. Now the PM proposed a new bridge with singapore. It'll be a heaven for the snatch thieves. They should chop off the hands of those thieves like in saudis. ;)
I also got news saying that mat rempit slashing people in the dark near bukit jalil area. so jaga jaga kawan. ;)

and you guys complaining about why the top players, LD included not coming to Malaysia?
and you guys complaining about why the top players, LD included not coming to Malaysia?
what has that got to do with it? LD when going to MAS will be living in hotel with shuttle bus taking him to the venue everyday.
and honestly, compare to China, a little bit of petty crime in Malaysia is nothing.
in China, human beings, children, disappears everyday. take the wrong bus and the bus might get robbed. there are countries with way way worse security. you are putting matter into the wrong context here.

Huh? That wasnt the reason they all complain Lin Dan not coming SEA countries to play, as you also know. The fans complain cos they cant get to see a top player play, some Msians(& other SEA countries) are LD fans you know.
And bags dont get snatched in Malaysia only :D

Hiyaa Jasonmarc, even when dont use handbag, walking in broad daylight also got ppl get robbed - if they're durg addicts, they dont care.
Anyway, it's better to carry a backpack, around both shoulders so they wouldnt tempted to snatch. Some even carry it round the front. And put all purse/wallet, hp in pocket, not bag. When the thieves see bulging pants/skirt pocket they know we dont put in the bag/s.

There's an update & some corrections as Berita Harian interview Rexy :
http://www.bharian.com.my/Current_News/BH/Sunday/BeritaUtama/20090523225624/Article/index_html
It's different in the sense : it happened at 9.30 pm, after dinner & Rexy's 13 y.o. daughter also injured.
Rexy said it happened this way, Rexy's wife & daughter crossed the road 1st to their car. Rexy saw his wife fell down, the bike stopped. At 1st, he thought the bike hit his wife. Then Rexy saw the motorcyclists trying to grab his wife's bag, pull2, wife & daughter fell down. Wife injured right arm, not left(for those who're picky, hehe), daughter injured her back.
Rexy's friend chase with car(the one who had dinner with them at the restaurant), Rexy ran & chase, passers-by also chase2. Friend's car go & hit bike......they fell, one guy was caught.
My earlier post i mentioned abt drug addicts cos tests confirmed the thief's bloodstream had syabu.
According from Rexy, everything is fine now. Other culprit was reprimanded as well.

Yeah, and not to mentioned his 6 previous police records! I am glad he was instantly been captured. Puas hati! Malaysians, careful. Now, we might want to use the 1 Malaysia slogan. Care for others, too. We've seen the worst cases for these few days, so, be extra careful.

Policeman is now more concentrate on the following matters:-
- By-elections security matters
- Setting up some very efficient road-block as to prevent drivers not over-speed
We heard from the authority everytime when there is some serious snatching-cases happened -
'' We will enforced more stern rules to those who are involved in the case.''
And the setence repeated 10x times without any action.
We, as the ordinary people, being expose to the danger of such threat, cant do anything except, pray and beg to the god to look after us.........

in malaysia, from personal experience if you're chinese and happened to be in the wrong place and wrong time you're lucky to be just been beaten up, report to the local police and they will just have a good laugh. that wasn't happened that many years ago.

lets be fair, it's not just Malaysia. I'm sure there are so many no-go areas defined by the colours of your skin in thst states. this is just fact, unfortunately.

but LD isn't going to go to these areas either.
every country has these places. in the US, there are areas where gangs hangs out and if you go there and wear the wrong color shirt, you might get killed.
if issues like this were the reason LD not go to a country, then he might as well just stay home.

This happens to most of the victims, doesnt matter if they are chinese or not. As for the snatch thief, 6 previous conviction    definitely the current punishment is not working. Not proposing the hudud law, but it seems that it is a very good idea. The should just chop off his hands after the 3rd conviction.

Where a bag-snatching victim accidentally killed after being pulled down by the 'snatcher', what is the most appropriate punishment he/she'll get?
In Malaysia, probably 3-5 years of jail setence + few cane....
A weakness in law enforcement is dissapointed in this case....

When confronted by snatch thieves or robbers use your common sense. Don't try to be a hero. It is just not worth it. Losing your personal belongings or some cash is better than risking your life. The only time you hit back is when your life is being threatened. This is one golden rule security experts will tell you.
Rexy and his friend were smart-the chase was done in the relative safety of the car vs a motorbike, surely a no contest.

Sometimes it's not cos the victim trying to be heroic. The bag strap got stuck and the victim was pulled along with the bike. Other times, it's the impact of the snatch/pull by a speeding bike(lone thieves do that). There were unfortunates ones who fell & knocked their heads, fell into coma, some never woke up.

Replace 'Malaysia' with just about any country... and the paragraph would still ring true. No nation is immune to crime... it's only the visible level that gets reported.
Shootings on US campuses, knifings in the UK, terrorism... every country has its dark share of human savagery.

I'm sorry to hear this, and I hope that your father will recover soon. ( I always thought that Australia is much better place to live in than Malaysia). Do these teenagers robbed people or just beat people up for fun?. Maybe somebody with power are protecting these criminals. Again I'm really sorry that this happen to your father.
I'm beginning to believe that the law are meant to protect these criminals rather than the society....

Hong Kong is one of the safest cities in the world. You can walk alone along the streets of notorious Mong Kok at midnight and it is safer than daytime in say Malaysia. We used to have big gangs before the 1997 Handover from Britain to China, and they would rob banks and jewelry shops with guns blasting, killing everyone who stood in their way. The most notorious of them all was the Big Boss, who staged the world's biggest robbery of hundreds of millions of US$ and who had the audacity to ransom two of HK's and world's richest tycoons and one of their sons to the tune of a few billion dollars.
After the Handover, when this came to the attention of the president of China, the Big Boss was very quickly set up and captured, and duly executed in China. Since then there are no more gangs to rob any banks or goldsmith shops. The crooks live in fear of the PLA garrison stationed in Hong Kong. In my opinion, the PLA presence in HK spells death for any violent organized crime.

Kosmo quoted Rexy as saying that his wife is more like traumatised by what happened, at the moment she's scared to go out of the house. Physical wise, the injury not serious, outpatient only, no need stay hospital.

I remember he was called Big Spender and not called Big Boss, you may be seeing too much Bruce Lee movie and got confused:D:p;)
Yes.. its the Big Spender. Not Big Boss. This guy is very notorious during his helm and was so called indestructible. Owns many Ferarris and Lambos as well. Now HK triads are more civilized, more professional in their dealings. However killings are more "silence" compare to before. However there are still some gang fights around. Nevertheless HK is still a safe place to go around. I love HK especially during Sale season and during Auctions.
