Now I think I have to believe you ... because the third WS match can't last so long and it is 12 pm! I think the Malaysian officials were too excited to update us on the earlier results ... they have forgotten us! ;)

TJY defeated China's Junior Champion. It seems like what Limsy said yestersay that he was not impressed with the standard of the China's Junior Champion has some truth in it. I do not mean to undermine TJY as I believe it is she who clinched the decisive point in this team event to win the cup for Malaysia. But for a Malaysia's women junior champion to defeat China's junior champion is something not expected by many.

But look what happened now...WYH already AE champion...and Lydia still cant wins a GP title...........:o

Same to Arif,...he was on par with CL in 2007 AJC......but left so far behine by CL now......:o

yes, but then WYH defeated LCLY in the individual event. So, history might repeat again if CXJ could defeat TJY in the individual event :D

I hope BAM can see the comments here although unlikely:o and finds out what went wrong in the past. Don't let us see another China's junior champion rises up in the future while TJY just vanishes nowhere.

Congratulation Mas Juniors..........well done....although its just Chn Juniors 2nd team...but still good show from you.........keep it up.............Proud of you.....
The overall strength of Mas in BS and BD this year is impressive. Tee Jing Yi is good and she is a true fighter. Mas is usually good in BD but the performance of Iskandar Zulkarnain and Mohd Shawal this year, has lifted our chances of winning the team event. I believe they will continue their fine run in the individual events.
To be fair to Mas payers, I would say that China sends their best in the girls line-up except Li Xuerui. Who else if not Chen Xiaojia, Tang Jinhua and Xia Huan , the junior champions? China leaves out Chen Yuekun, Qiao Ping and Deng Peng for whatsoever reaon but Chen is nowhere near to Wang Zhengming, last year BS champion in terms of level of play.Tian Houwei is also one of the top juniors if not the best. So even if they send the best, the fight might be closer but Mas still has a decent chance of winning BS and BD. Iskandar is good and he has proven it by winning convincingly againt players from Korea, India, Japan and China.
Mas has been doing consistently well in the junior event in the past few years and hopefully, a star is in the making.

MAS has some very good players and I think they have a very good chance to take at least some medals in the individual event. But still China decided to keep their best team at home, which is a pitty. Nevertheless great victory for them!

From the results I've seen so far I think Zainuddin wil take MS. I think it will be a very close battle in WS...

Was there this morning to see MAS juniors beating the CHN counterparts. I would say Iskandar has the potential to go far. Just hope BAM nuture him and hopefully he doesn't stagnate like some of his predecessors.
Oh, and I also spotted "the capped one" sitting on the CHN bench. Maybe he is here to give moral support to his son?
Others spotted were Rexy and Hendrawan. Also saw Arif, LiewDarren and Lydia there to give moral support to their juniors.

What was the reason that that none of the Korean players were seeded? as for exemple So Hee Lee did great at the German Junior.

It's Iskandar Zulkarnain bin Zainuddin, his father's name/surname is Zainuddin. In tournaments they always use surname, Fairuz is normally called as Tazari.
But Iskandar's parents have great ambitions for him to have named him after Alexandar the Great.;)

The overall strength of Mas in BS and BD this year is impressive.

Maybe WOng Tat Meng & Yap KH going over to BJSS to train the juniors have something to do with it. Hopefully they can keep it up when they're promoted to senior level, so far, the juniors dont do that well after going to senior, esp singles dept.

tell u another thing.
tee jing yi did a roughly 25 UNFORCE ERROR in that game. in 2nd set, after 8-11 interval, tee jing yi did 8/9 unforce error. imagine that, and u still unable to take advantage, and u are the so called china national junior champion?
as a national junior champion,u should win like how li xue rui won last year,my friend.
not to discredit chen xiao jia,and i am not anti her.
she really didnt have any special thing that impress me,if ng sin zou did everything right, she already lose.

well ... what a fantastic day for Malaysia. I have seen great malaysian supporter all round and the happy face when malaysia won the team event. regardless whether it is the 1st team or the 2nd team.... WE R STILL THE CHAMP.

Of course the hero of the day is without doubt Tee JingYi and Iskandar. They stole the two precious point from China.

Somehow ... i have the feeling that the presence of Li YongBo affected the the players. He walked in with his wife when the boys singles is playing and the boy started to play badly. And when he begun to give instruction to the coaches to tell the GS how to play Tee Jingyi... she could not played the game she think she should as she has to listen to the chief coach instruction.
Bad Day for China.

I am also very surprise at the players parents who are together to support the Team despite the fact that most of their children are not in the team. Its shows that we can be united. Cheers for them.

Notable absent from the photo of course is Sonia. When asked... she said she is embarassed and shy as she did not contribute to the team success to qualify to stand on the podium but she sure look happy.

I think this AJC Mixed Team event has revealed the following:

1. That MAS seems to be in the right direction in its youth and junior development programmes.

2. South Korea and Japan are not far behind, despite a relatively weaker support for the game.

3. INA, on the other hand, has to work harder and be more consistent.

4. IND (India) will emerge stronger if the present interest in badminton continues to be well supported.

5. CHN continues to be very strong, as their team is reported to be more or less their second stringers only.

So, if these junior players will eventually graduate to represent their respective countries at the world stage, the other countries, including current champion MAS, must work much harder to be on par with the real CHN. :D:p;):)

..for future prospects, this is all good and dandy; same with the World Junior Championships event.
But what we're, at least i am, really looking fw to is their progress and what they will become in, say 4, 5, 6 yrs down the line. That's when they play against the "big boys" and "big girls". Remember also, some or even most of these players might not even make it further and might just stay where they are or even digress.

We know why he is in. I just wonder why the coaches dare not speak out about Li Gen. I am sure he does not deserve a place in the squad if it is based on meritocracy. We will see if he is included in WJC. But it's good news to the opponents if he is included.

What a disappointing result in BS, with both Evert Sukamta and Ary Trisnanto being eliminated in their first match  What have they been doing all these while in the AkMil?????

Only Hermansyah remains but he will lose to the top-seed Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin in R16 for sure.

The GS players are performing okay so far, with Siti Anida Lestari beating the sixth-seed Liu-I-Chun; while Ana Rovita continues to show good progress by beating the eighth-seed Nguyen Thi-Sen for a place in the last 16. Febby Angguni also progresses after another straight-set victory.

They will each face a tough task in order to progress to the last 8. Febby will face Minatsu Mitani, Siti Anida will face Saili Rane, and Ana will face Sikky N. Reddy.

The experimentation of partnering Didit Juang with Kevin Alexander also failed big time as they lost in their first match to Guo Junjie/Liu Peixuan. Angga Pratama/Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto beat the MAS pair in two tight-sets and they should progress to QF.

In the XD, Kevin Alexander/Suci Rizky Andini will face a tough match against Jin Yong Hoon/Kim Chan Mi in R16 tomorrow. Likewise, Yohanes Rendy Sugiharto/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah will face Mohd Ismail Mohd Syawal/Tee Jing Yi, while Angga Pratama/Destiara Della Haris will face Pranav Chopra/Prajakta Sawant.

In the GD, Suci Rizky Andini/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah are expected to go through to R16, while Aurien Hudiono/Gebby Ristiyani Imawan and Destiara Della Haris/Ni Made Claudia Ayu Wijaya will face tough opponents later on today.

Didit Juang Indrianto/Gebby Ristiyani Imawan is the only XD pair that failed to progress today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan started their campaign with a victory over Lin Chia-Hsuan/Lin Yu-Hsien. They will face Gu Mu Yeong/Jin Yong Hoon for a place in the last 8....and if they win, a match against the top-seed Yew Hong Kheng/Ow Yao Han in the QF beckons. Let's see....

Meanwhile, Angga Pratama/Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto will have an easier task in R16 and will face either Akira Kobayashi/Shohei Hoshino or the second-seed Pranav Chopra/B. Sai Praneet for a place in the SF.

Lots of crowd at the stadium and probably due to the publicity of the Team events wins from all media. Congrat. to the malaysian JR heroes.

Interestingly alot of attention was given to Li Yongbo son but nothing impressive. There is an upset in the WS- Porntip lost. I feel that she is feeling the pressure. Unlike Ratchanok and Sapsiree there are no pressure when they played- They go in and played the game they know. Very Impressive girls especially Ratchanok- its hard to believe she is 14, She does not look like 14 more like 16. Still her game is very mature and very consistent.

Tee Jingyi is make to struggle again when she played the Spore gal. anyway is the win that count.

Limsy is right in his assesment mostly. If she continue tocount on player's mistake- no wonder he is tired.

anyway he must be sleeping the whole day today.

Reddy.

I like tomorrow's R16 matchups for INA's GS... ;) I wish I could be in MAS to watch these 3 matches... All 3 should be competitive... After R16, the tough TOUGH tests will be given to all INA GS [should they actually go to the quarterfinals :p]... For MAS, it's the boys again who outshine the girls. But credit to the girls, they are good enough now to give a good challenge for the mixed team title.

badMania
07-17-2009, 12:28 AM
A good showing by the GS as all 3 progress to the QF. But, its likely all three will be eliminated today. Realistically, only the more experienced Febby Angguni has a chance of progressing to SF.

Meanwhile, Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan also beat the KOR pair and will now face the uphill task of triumphing over the MAS top-seed pair of Ow Yaw Han/Yew Hong Kheng for a place in the last 4. Angga Pratama/Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto might also have a chance against the second-seed from IND Pranav Chopra/Sai Praneet.

All 2 INA GD pairs lost.

So, INA has 2 in XD, 3 in GS, and 2 in BD for the QF later this afternoon/

TJY lost to Intanon in 2 straight games 21:10, 21:13:eek: and TJY had proven her merit by beating China Junior Champion b4. I think not many will dare to bet against Intanon to win the single title after looking at the scoreline.

Intanon Rachanok just lost..........:)..unpredictable.......

PBSI has made mistake in player choosing in team, didn't call Ana Rovita in team, but good for her no opponent watched her in individual.

I hope PBSI will call Riyanto Subagja in next WJC

Ratchanok also lost ..........

Who is this Rovita? Intanon was defeated in two staright games 21:14 21:14:eek: Looking back at her previous games show that all were won in two straight games as well. How impessive! All of us are concentrating on Thailand's and China's women players while overlooking the real big fish hiding under the rocks!:eek:

yes, if he wanted to prove that he is useful, win a WJC or a AJC :D I also don't hope that people always say his position in the team is because of his father. So, he must prove it :D

PBSI has made so many mistakes..they didnt call febby, ana, ulin, berry,n jenna gozali to Pelatnas Pratama..they just let vita n alven leave pelatnas..they dont do anything to make them stay..vita is still very important to motivate her juniors..alven,no wonder,he's still quite dangerous..

Msia assured a place in AJC finals as Misbun Ramdan, Iskandar & Syawal won their matches. Zulfadli lost but good fight for a 16 year old.

hmmm... for all the huh-hah over the JPN players, only one representative in the QF. THA keeping true to their promise. MAS shows strength in quality and quantity but only on the boy's side. CHN strong considering they use second-stringers. INA bouncing back from disappointing team event. But not KOR.

So Mr Yong, you will be staying back for the semis & finals, I presume? :)

What have those coaches at Pelatnas Pratama been doing :confused:??? ALL the Pelatnas Pratama players, except for Angga/Rendy have been eliminated.

However, if you look at PB Djarum's players, Ana Rovita and Febby Angguni are through to tomorrow's SF and I hope Febby can even progress to the Final

PB Djarum has a few BS players that we can count on: Riyanto Subagja, Arif Gifar Ramadhan, and 3 others.

Oh...and Ana Rovita was Indonesia's U-19 Champion last year.

Once again, it just proves that centralized training at Pelatnas/Pelatnas Pratama might not be the best for INA's players  It's best that the talented ones stay at PB Djarum as they will receive more tournament exposure for sure...
