It's in Msia, again.

NST
Bukit Kiara replaces Hyderabad as host

2009/06/02
MALAYSIA will host the Asian Junior Badminton Championships on July 12-19. BA of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Kenny Goh, said the association was taking over the job from India, who was to host the event in Hyderabad.

This will be the third time in a row that Malaysia is hosting the competition which will be held at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara.

Malaysia is also hosting the World Junior Championships in Alor Star, Kedah on Oct 23-Nov 1.

The other major tournament is the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold Challenge which will be held in Johor Baru on June 23-28.

In last year's Asian Junior competition, Mak Hee Chun-Teo Kok Siang ended Malaysia's six-year drought in the boys' doubles. The pair are no longer eligible to play in the Under-19 championships.

This year, Malaysia will be banking on the boys' singles players for honours.

They are MSSM champion Zulfadli Zulkifli and German and Dutch Junior Open champion Iskandar Zulkarnain.

Meanwhile, Tee Jing Yi, who was a reserve in last year's Uber Cup in Jakarta, is the country's main contender for the girls' singles crown.

Also in the fray are the boys' pair of Pang Zheng Ning-Chooi Kah Min, the semi-finalists in last year's World Juniors. -- AJITPAL SINGH

The day's schedule July 12-19 doesn't look good.
Some of junior players will compete in the Challenge & GP event in Australia, NZL, Laos & Indonesia.

I don't think INA will send best team in here, guess they will be splitted in AJBC & AUS-NZL.

My hope INA's Junior Team are

WS : Febby Angguni, Ana Rovita, Siti Anida & Rena Suwarno
MS : Riyanto Subagja, Evert Sukamta, Marcus Fernaldi, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito (I like this young squad)
WD : Tiara Rosalia/Suci Rizky, Della Destiara/Claudia Wijaya or combination Anneke Feinya+someone
MD : M. Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan, Kevin Alexander/Angga Pratama or combination Johanes Rendy Sugiharto+someone
XD : Johanes Rendy Sugiharto, Seiko Wahyu, Didit Juang, Anneke Feinya, Della Destiara, Yayu Rahayu, Ricky K. Suwandi/Ayu Pratiwi

How about Nurbeta Kwanrico/Aulia Putri?

Nurbeta/Aulia is best U-19 WD among non Pelatnas players.
Looking last year h2h and recent performance, I think Tiara/Succi & Della/Claudia also Anneke Feinya are still better than them.
Usually only 2 WD every team (exception host) can compete in this junior event.

I personally don't think Pelatnas will want to release Anneke Feinya Agustine for the AJC or WJC this year. Besides, she will not be partnering with Annisa Wahyuni in those events anyway, even though she's eligible.

PBSI : Kevin/Angga, Rendy+??? or Ulin/Berry

I took MS based on INA U-18 last year whose fielded Evert, Marcus Fernaldi, Alrie Gunadarma & Wahyu Nayaka. Those line up made me unsure Ary Trisnanto still in age range or not, either Hermansyah and Hera Desi in WS.

In ASEAN school last year, INA won 2 titles, Girl's team (Febby, Siti Anida, Ana Rovita, Tiara, Della/Claudia, Feinya/Aurien H) and Girl's Double by Della/Claudia. 2nd place in MD by Rendy/Ulin, XD by Ulin/Della.

For Sandy and Krisna:
How good is Kevin Alexander/Angga Pratama? I have heard their names often but have yet to watch them to have an idea of how they will stand among INA's BD pairs? They lost to Rizky/Albert during the Pratama selection.

What I don't understand is why the Pratama players not exposed to Domestic Circuit, which is presumably very competitive. If these guys just train and train, when will they be sent to international tourneys except for the AJC, WJC and the several Int Challenges in the region?

I thought the Domestic Circuit will be a good arena for them to test their skills against the ex-Pelatnas, Club and veteran players.

From what I heard, the Pelatnas coaches & officials are often scared of getting criticized/ridiculed if Pelatnas players loose to non-Pelatnas players... :o So, they are often reluctant to send the Pelatnas kids to domestic tournaments... :o In essence, they would rather sacrifice the kids' real-match accumulated experience to guard their perceived-'prestige' [thus, save their own coaching jobs at Pelatnas in the process]...

This time, I think the official reason is that Pelatnas Pratama kids are in Magelang doing some military training stuff... :p

Kevin/Angga often represent INA in some junior event, Asian U-16, Asian Junior or WJC.
Looking the past results, they dominated when U-16 while M. Ulinnuha still finding the suitable pair by pairing with Rahmat Adianto or Komala Dewi in XD.

I don't see Kevin/Angga play yet so I can't say what their strength. Since they joined in Pelatnas Pratama in 2008, usually played in Adult Category beside played in AJC & WJC. In WJC 2008, they were 2nd choice after Rendy/Ryan in MD.

Compare Kevin/Angga with Ulin/Berry, personally I prefer to Ulin/Berry in current form. They proved us more in some event, while Kevin/Angga still unknown what the progress during Pelatnas Pratama program this year.

I heard today that PBSI [99% chance] will send:

WS: Siti Anida, Febby Angguni, Ana Rovita; Rena Suwarno is injured, so Elizabeth Purwaningtyas of SGS is the next person in line...
MS: Ary Trisnanto, Evert Sukamta, Hermansyah, plus Markus Fernaldi Gideon
WD: Suci-Tiara, Della-Claudia, Gebby-Aurien
MD: Rendy-Angga, Kevin-Didit, and Ullin-Berry
XD: Rendy-Tiara, Angga-Gebby, Kevin-Suci, and one more XD pair to be decided by the Pratama coach, Bambang Supriyanto...

Note: the players in red color have to pay for their own travelling expense. They are not members of Pelatnas Pratama and the national team have no budget for them...

For MS, why Indonesia not send Riyanto Subagja. I think this is good for him since he will face them in the coming years...

Krisna
06-23-2009, 10:22 AM
Riyanto is not a member of Pelatnas Pratama and only ranked number 5 in INA's BS under-19 category. It makes sense for PBSI to not select him at this time. Maybe by next year he will be the number 1 BS Under-19. It makes sense then...

Look like quota of MD & WD has been added to be 3 pairs.
PBSI considered the squad is Pelatnas players firstly rather than club players without see the progress, prospect & potential players.

Example :
Riyanto Subagja still play in U-16 last year and he allways lost to Ever Sukamta when Evert still in U-16 too. This year Riyanto can beat Evert in Tarakan, that is called progress. Looking in ASEAN school last year, INA MS was weakest point when against Malaysia or Thailand. PBSI should considered new younger potential player to solve it.

I don't think new pair in MD & WD is good decision, it's only short time pairing while the original pair is better and when they train together ??

So My "Dreaming" Team are :

WS : Febby Angguni, Ana Rovita, Siti Anida, Hanna Ramadini (why not chosen from younger age)
MS: Ary Trisnanto, Riyanto Subagja, Evert Sukamta, Hermansyah
WD: Suci-Tiara, Della-Claudia, Nurbetta-Aulia
MD: Ullin-Berry, Didit-Seiko, Rendy-Angga
XD: Rendy-Tiara, Angga-Gebby, Kevin-Suci, Ricky K.S./Ayu Pratiwi

WS: Rena Suwarno is injured at this the time for the Asian Junior registration, but she and her coach are confident she will return from her injury by the time Asian Junior starts. So, she's still in the team. No Elizabeth from SGS yet, but there is still a chance she will replace Rena...

Any problem with sponsor ?

or just Lius's decision about INA Junior squad ?

If the answer is no.2, it's very quetionable
WS & MD of club players are more stronger than Pelatnas

it's just a 500m walk away from the station.

1. once you get off the LRT station, walk towards the direction of the main stadium (you can't miss it).
2. walk along the road between the main stadium and the aquatic centre to get to putra.

dont know much about korea, where is event?According to one source, Philippine Open and defending AJC XD champion Zhang Nan is still junior age but Lu Lu is not. Zhang may be back for more.

The great thing about Korea is that their participation in the German Junior Open (http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/players.aspx?id=F792808A-60BB-42B8-9C2B-4C415BB2F03F&c=KOR) tells you a lot about who's strong and who's young. There are two other top eligible players who didn't go to Germany and they are Sung Ji Hyun and Eom Hye Won. Korea has only a very young team in their training camp this week, without the six top players who are in their last year of juniors (Sung, Eom, Choi Young Woo, Lee Joo Hee, Jun Yong Hyun, and Lee Se Rang). So the only serious prospects may end up being Kang Ji Wook (http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/player.aspx?id=F792808A-60BB-42B8-9C2B-4C415BB2F03F&player=108) and Choi Hye In (http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/player.aspx?id=F792808A-60BB-42B8-9C2B-4C415BB2F03F&player=116). 15-year-old Lee So Hee (http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/player.aspx?id=F792808A-60BB-42B8-9C2B-4C415BB2F03F&player=121) is also good but very young and no experience apart from her silver in Germany.

The answer is number 2. Because Lius have to ensure there are certain privilages when you are part of the Pratama team. Oh, but I heard Ullin-Berry is called in into the Mixed Team squad... They need more firepower in BD, they said... Actually, if that is so, Febby should be another INA ace at this Junior Level... :D

Mixed Team & Individual Draw

Oh my, they seed INA as seed 5-8 in the Mixed team draw... :o Below Thailand?!? :( And should INA finish #2 in the pool C, INA most probably will get to face #1 in pool A (most likely China)... :o

Decent draw in GS: Febby Angguni got the best possible draw as the 5th seed... Renna Suwarno also got a fabulous draw to push her to the quarterfinals. Ana Rovita can also realistically go to the quarterfinals... Siti "Sharapova" Anida has to overcome the Taiwanese, Liu, by the 2nd round... I think she will be beaten by Liu... :p But Siti Anida should be cuter than most of the competitors here... ;) :D Many call her INA Junior's Sharapova...:D More like Kournikova [she doesn't win a lot] if you ask me... :p

Only 2 seeds in BD, 3 seeds in GD, 1 seed in XD?!?:eek::eek:

Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan have a very tough draw  It will speak of their credentials if they do eventually win this Asian Junior title.

R32 vs Lin Chia-Hsuan/Lin Yu-Hsien (TPE) -- shouldn't be a problem
R16 vs (likely) Gu Mu Yeung/Jin Hong Yoon (KOR) -- any KOR MD pair is always dangerous to face in the early stage.
QF vs Yew Hong Kheng/Ow Yao Han (MAS) [1] -- an encounter with the top-seed from MAS will be very likely if Ulin/Berry can beat the KOR pair.
SF vs (likely) Kang Ji Wook/Choi Seung Il (KOR) or their compatriot Didit Juang Indrianto/Kevin Alexander (INA) or Goh Jian Hao/Pang Zheng Lin.

Meanwhile, Didit/Kevin have a very bad draw:
R64 vs Wang Tianyang/Pei Tianyi (CHN)
R32 vs Kang Ji Wook/Choi Seung Il
R16 vs Naoto Otaki/Tatsuya Watanabe (JPN)
QF vs Goh Jian Hao/Pang Zheng Lin

In the bottom half, Angga Pratama/Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto also has a tough first match:
R64 vs Teo Ee Yi/Goh Sze Onn (MAS)
R32 vs either a PAK or MDV pair -- a breeze if Angga/Rendy can beat the MAS pair.
R16 vs either a CAM or IRQ pair -- ditto.
QF vs either Pranav Chopra/B. Sai Praneet (IND) [2] or Li Gen/Lu Kai (CHN).
SF vs either Kim Min Ki/Ha Young Woong (KOR) or Yeoh Choong Yee/Chooi Kah Ming (MAS) or Guo Junjie/Liu Peixuan (CHN)

Malaysia surprisingly seeded second in mixed team event

There was a pleasant surprise for Malaysia when they were seeded second behind China in the mixed team competition of the Asian Junior Badminton Championships, which begin on Sunday at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here.

But it will not be easy for Malaysia to live up to the billing in the Under-19 championships as they are expected to play against South Korea in the semi-finals.

Malaysia have been drawn in Group B with India, Mongolia and Vietnam. The third-fourth seeded Koreans are expected to top Group C, which has Indonesia, Taiwan and Laos. Defending champions China are in Group A with Japan, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Group D comprises Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kazakhstan.

The top two teams in each group advance to the quarter-finals, which pit qualifiers from Group A against those from Group C and those from Group B against those from Group D.

While the luck of the draw favoured the Malaysian side, led by Asian schools champion Iskandar Zulkarnain, it will not be an easy ride to get into the final. The Koreans dethroned Malaysia as champions last year, winning the tie 3-1 to reach the final.

Team manager How Kim Tho said that a higher seeding in junior-level competitions did not really reflect the real strength of the teams.

“It’s difficult to predict the outcome. We don’t know the actual strength of our rivals, especially when they have players whom we have never heard or even seen before in their sides,” he said.

“We can expect it to be close from the quarter-finals. The Koreans always have quality players, especially in the doubles and they can challenge China for the title.”

His point was emphasised by the fact that none of the Chinese or South Korean players were seeded in the individual draw yesterday. But they certainly have the ability to end the title dreams of their seeded rivals and Iskandar will have to be wary of this.

The 18-year-old is the top seed in the boys’ singles competition while KLRC Bhd’s Zulfadli Zulkifli is the third seed behind Vietnam’s Le Ha Anh.

The Malaysian boys’ doubles pair of Ow Yao Han-Yew Hong Kheng, who were the Commonwealth Youth champions in India last year, were also given the top billing.

At the championships last year, the boys’ doubles pair of Mak Hee Chun-Teo Kok Siang delivered the only gold medal for Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager, Kenny Goh, said the faulty spotlights at the competition venue would be replaced today.

THE GROUPINGS

Group A: China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia.

Group B: Malaysia, India, Mongolia, Vietnam.

Group C: South Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Laos.

Group D: Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kazakhstan.

Iskandar wants to be the brightest star in Asian Juniors

By RAJES PAUL

KUALA LUMPUR: The lighting system is back in order at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here.
And Malaysia’s Iskandar Zul*kar*nain Zainuddin will be out to shine the brightest at the venue in his last campaign in the Asian Junior Championships, which begin on Sunday.
http://thestar.com.my/archives/2009/7/10/sports/s_p58Zainuddin.jpg Iskandar: ‘There will always be some kind of pressure and I have to handle it the best way I can.’
The 18-year-old wants to bring joy to Malaysia in both the mixed team and individual events. The mixed team competition starts on Sunday and the individual events begin on Wednesday.
Iskandar said that everything was in place for him to end his last year as a junior player with a flourish.
“Even the lights (which had disrupted national training at the stadium) are working perfectly now. I have done everything I can as far as preparations are concerned. It’s now to go out there and perform,” said the reigning national junior champion.
Iskandar, however, admitted that the pressure was mounting on him to become the first Malaysian to win an Asian junior singles title and the second to reach the final after Mohd Arif Abdul Latif last year.
There has also been growing expectation on Iskandar, especially after having performed consistently well thus far this year, including winning the Dutch and German Open junior titles.
“I am the top seed and I am expected to live up to the tag. There will always be some kind of pressure and I have to handle it the best way I can. I will give my best,” he said.
Iskandar added that players from Thailand, South Korea and China would also be strong contenders for the title.
“One of my early challengers in the individual event will be Pisit (Poodchalat of Thailand). I have a 3-2 record against him,” he said.
“There are some others from South Korea and China. We don’t really know their strength and having to deal with the unknown is another challenge.
“In the mixed team event, it will be an achievement to reach the semi-finals. We are stronger for the boys’ matches compared to the girls. We will bank on our fighting spirit to see us through.”
Last year, Malaysia were beaten in the semi-finals of the mixed team competition.

Junior badminton squad heads to first international outing in Malaysia

By Agnes Winarti

After three months of intensive drilling at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java , Indonesia's junior shuttle squad on Friday headed to their first international combat in the Badminton Asia Youth Under-19 Championship in Malaysia running from July 12-19.

“Since the start of our training at the Military Academy three months ago, we have set this championship as our first tournament target,” Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI)’s youth coach Ronny Agustinus told The Jakarta Post on Friday.

“This event will serve as a great opportunity for us to read the strength and weakness of other junior shuttlers from other Asian countries,” said Ronny, adding that although there were no specific target set, the squad hoped to at least snatch champion titles in the boys’ singles and boys’ doubles.

“So far, these two events have a greater chance of winning as the boys were the champions in last year’s National Circuits nationwide,” said Ronny. The international event will be their first experience this year.

PBSI selected 13 shuttlers of the 39, who were drilled at the Military Academy in Magelang, since April 15, where the youngsters will be spending a total of six months training.

The boys’ squad consists of Ari Trisnanto, Evert Sukamta, Hermansah, Kevin Alexander, Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto, and Angga Pratama.

Meanwhile, the girls’ squad comprises Siti Anida Lestari, Renna Suwarno, Suci Rizky Andini, Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah, Gebby Ristiyani Imawan, Della Destiara Haris, and Ni Made Claudia Ayu Wijaya.

The U-19 squad also had one week of training prior to their Friday departure at the national training camp for badminton in Cipayung, East Jakarta.

Besides the 13 shuttlers registered to the junior national camp, there are also seven shuttlers, who did not join the national camp, taking part in the championship, including Markus Fernaldi, Feby Agguni, Ana Rovita, M. Ulinuhua, Berry Angriawan, Didit Juang, and Aurien Hudiono.

Five of the them are the best junior talents from the country’s prominent badminton club Djarum. They are participating in the championship with private funding.

After participating in the Asia Youth U-19 Championship, there are also three tournaments to come, including two National Circuits in Tegal in Central Java and Surabaya in East Java as well as the international-level Indonesian Challenge in Jakarta next month. PBSI will have all its 39 young shuttlers compete in those next three tournaments.

The Military Academy-based drilling for the youth squad was initiated by Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Gen.Djoko Santoso, the current chairman of PBSI, who expected to yield high-performance shuttlers in the next several years.

After 3 months in Military Academy Training, some coaches and PBSI Official look optimist. This event is 1st test of their training method.

Ary Trisnanto personally take attention to Iskandar & Syawal via facebook, he had bad record against them last year.
If he has good progress, I believe he can beat them refer to INA MS younger player could forced Iskandar 3 sets in Dutch Open this year. But more rivals in here not only Iskandar & Syawal.

Personally I put hope more on MD & WD via Ulin/Berry & Tiara/Suci.
Ulin/Berry has showed good progress lately.
I watched some Tiara/Succi's match before joined in Pelatnas, they won in Kejurnas, played powerful against some higher seeded or older pair. Not surprised for me when they beat "Main" Pelatnas pair Anneke Feinya/Anissa Wahyuni.

Refer to last 3 AJCs (2006 to 2008), INA only got 1 title (2007, WD Debby/Richi), needed hard works to get the title in here although just one title.

Yes, the crucial tie will be INA vs KOR to determine who will top the group and have an easier task in the QF. If INA lost, I am pretty sure they will exit the tourney at QF stage. So, it's a must-win situation for INA.

For INA to seal the tie against KOR, they have to win:
1. MS and MD -- not easy, but looking at KOR's lineup against TPE, I believe that either Ary Trisnanto or Evert Sukamta and Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan can get the points here.
2. XD -- the crucial one....I will rather save Mohd Ulinnuha for MD and field Kevin Alexander/Rizki Andini Suci.
3. WS -- fielding Febby Angguni is a good choice here as she has relatively good experience playing Int Series and Challenge level players. She will have better chance of winning a point.

say the overall 1st then just talk about the matches
the level is quite high,i saw some senior level performance
especially in md and xd:D

match of the day goes to ina vs chinese taipei tie,xd match.
both pair giving a gp level performance eventhough ullin is a bit off form(5% like that)
destiara touch is powerfull and quite dominant at the net, ullin with cunning smash(but a few times into net),tai with superb reaction and placement, lin with very good court coverage.enjoy this match well, many extraordinary return, crazy rally, using every inch of the court.
the score reflected how tight the game is,at one stage, chinese taipei pair lead by 15-9 in 2nd set and i thought we might have a rubber set,but still, destiara chase up calmly with the help of ullin, chinese taipei made a few costly error at that time.

i saw two og silver medalist in the stadium, hehe, will try to hunt them down:D
ssm(2004 athens og ms silver medalist) coaching ms of course
ykh(1996 atlanta og md silver medalist) coaching double player,he come in 2nd session but not the 1st)

At the last minute, Malaysia banned most of their athletes from participating in the Asian Youth Games which ended last week in Singapore because of the H1N1 flu but now allowed their youths to participate in the Asian Junior Championships, KL. Of course Malaysia have to set a good example because they are the organisers.

I just wonder what will happen if participating countries give the same reason to withdraw their teams at the eleventh hour? Thank goodness the other countries are more sporting and did not withdraw. Neither did they withdraw from AYG Singapore. And Malaysia is supposed to be Singapore's closest neighbour. :D

my comment on mas player 2nd tie vs vietnam:

there is 2 reason why iskandar is struggling against le
1st,le told iskandar why he is the 2nd seed in individual event.because he is really good, smash is powerful, footwork is good, reaction is good.
2nd,before the 2nd session start, there is a 4/5 hours break in between, quite a number of mas player come early to train(?) or practise,he is one of them.
'smartly',knowing he will be field later,he didnt reserve his energy or anything, smash here and there(100%,the smash is faster, stronger compare to when he is on court vs vietnam;))the smash in that match is just about 80% of what i saw when he is practising:mad:
and he already start tired at 2nd set,LUCKILY opponent did a few mistake in crucial points;)

2nd match:xd
shevon remind me of woon khe wei. both lefty and most important is,they let their patner run all over the court to cover them. standing infront, player should be fast to react, but she is not.she only TRY to react after the birdie past the net,too slow, goh jh run here and there to cover her,in result: DEFEAT;)

3rd match:ws
after watching she practise and play,i think she might a 45-55 chance to beat ratchanok,if ratchanok is off form, then she might have a chance.
but the MAJOR problem is,she give up some point easily, reason?lazy to reach:mad:.if she still is this attitude in individual event, die easily;)

4th match:md
i really dont understand how they get rated as 1st seed?yes, they have speed, flying all around the court, great power. BUT,they easily off guard/off form:rolleyes:
dont think they can go far in individual.

5th match:wd
ng hui er/lai peijing.
hmm,smash quite killing,defend quite well.
anyway, they sometime quite messy because they didnt patner each other much.too bad ong boon hui injured.
ng hui ern is still the best double u19,but her patner arent as good as she is
still,both are cute:p

vietnam is good,believe me

Yes, judging from the scores, Vietnam seem to have improved a lot. But they must have been knocked out as I don't see their name for tomorrow's matches. Instead minnows such as Laos and Mongolia are still around.

Sorry after checking I saw Vietnam there too, up against Mongolia. It will be a thrashing for MGL.

India are another team to watch! Malaysia cannot take India lightly as the latter can spring a surprise. It will possibly be 3-2, either way.

And Singapore should get their consolation tomorrow against Kazakhstan.

Hiyaa, sorry lah uncle Loh. The Education Ministry is more afraid than NSC, NSC wanted to send but Education Ministry said no, students are under their dept. It seems the young guys & gals were disappointed cos they trained hard to prepare for AYG, last minute told cannot go.

If other countries withdraw?? Less competition lah. But maybe only Spore would lah cos Msia didnt go AYG. Tickets are free I think, so, no problems abt audience not happy.:p

Well Spore did not withdraw from the AJC and the swine flu is still floating about even though we have what I considered to be a relative weak team.

Yes indeed, young Msian athletes must be very disappointed after they have trained hard and look forward to the Games just across the causeway to be stopped by their Education Ministry at the last minute. I hope the Ministry have learnt their lesson especially when countries from faraway make the attempt to take part despite the swine flu scare. :D

Hard luck for INA as they lost to KOR in the XD.

KHN will not be able to surprise like last year.)

well, this year the teams does not seem to be what it might be.

China struggle with Japan. Probably did not sent their best. Thailand looks very strong and balance. Korea and Indonesia probably the match to watch this morning. with the Korean Young gal won the GS against Febby.

hoshino/kobayashi
this is a crazy pair, fast and furious, great reaction, return the birdie with natural reaction(no need to TRY to reach the birdie, direct reaction by nerves,no need pass by the brain),abit cocky but it is ok as it deliver result,KO china pair in a tight game, beat korea beautifuly:D

japan wd are hard with their smash, but still need to polish their game;)

group b
no need to describe much on mas player

india
sikki is good as i said before, but still have a few area to be polish by her coach

their md is really strong, get point from mas and thailand hand
one of the pair to watch in individual event
their attacking play is great but defensive play still can improve.

vietnam
le ha anh
1st time i saw the individual draw,i was wondering how good he is to be seeded 2nd:rolleyes:,and when i saw him playing(against iskandar),i can admit that he deserve to be seeded 2nd at the 1st place eventhough wakanabe should be better than him, cant really easily outmove him to earn point,u need to smash REALLY hard to break his defence and yet,ur own defense MUST be solid;)

nguyen thi sen
a player that can go far if train correctly, abit rusty but can see she is a good one, same as hong kong poh l y. her patner in wd is slightly better than her at THIS moment but nguyen will be better in the future.

well, group c should be group of death to me
haha, pity chinese taipei, they is better than hong kong and india i think.

korea
overall, only choi hye in impressed me,others is just really STILL OK only
maybe lyd had made a high standard for me to compare with the korea junior nowdays, they are above average but not good enough to me,maybe they can prove me wrong in individual event.

ina
hmm, maybe my expectation is high on ina junior, but their performance is made me quite upset about(will talk this in later match describetion)

chinese taipei
hsu jen hao,i really not sure that is he good,or oppoenent weak?
his performance is quite good actually and beat ssm student,a well done for him,but i dont think he will do anything big in individual event lar.

the pair that impress me the most is lin/tai
i had describe their positive points in yesterday post, and i really think they are one of the contender in xd IF they cut off their mistake. hope to see they go far in xd.

the last group,group d

singapore actually almost beat hong kong with koh jia yi and chen jia yuan effort, both are good in single and double.
chen jia yuan even beat porntip, this really tell u how good she is.
both chen and koh is a dangerous player to others.;)

well, even i didnt say,u all sure know that thailand are strong with porntip, sapsiree and ratchanok.others team member didnt impress me much.
but this 3 girl are not stable enough(good news to their opponent),they might be superb in this rally but then lousy in the next rally.BUT,they are still extreme dangerous to their opponent because the % of superb is more than % of lousy:p

3 member in hongkong team catch my eye,lee chun hei,tse ying suet and poh lok yan
tse ys play in senior stage for a while now,so that is not surpising that she had a few good area.
poh lok yan is in same category with vietnam nguyen tin sen.
lee chn hei is a good one,but unfortunately,he didnt have a better patner to pair with. can reach the birdie well and fast, smash quite deep but not consistence enough.

player comment ended here and next will be the match describetion.

Limsy, agreed with u but there are still alot of players for u to talk about whom have not played in the team event.

Reddy Sikki is good but lost to Tee Jingyi badly but managed to redeem herself by playing well against Ratchanok. Reddy Sikki have good skills and intelligence but i think the Malaysian girls are able to match her though.

Ratchanok played a matured game for 14years old but i do think she will have difficulty maintain her 2nd seeding ranking. I like the way the Japanese girls single Mitano.i think, she has a style that reminds me so much of Hirose or even better.

The Chinese girls have not really been tested by other country except by the Japanese.

Why u dont want to discuss the malaysian Jr. I think Shervon who played in the mixed double was troubled by her partners attitude that disturb her concentration and game. She seem down. Its is not a good experience but i hope she learn from it. She is a good playerwho need more polishing. May play a major role next year.

As for the boys - I am impressed with the Japanese boy single.Cute too.
The Chinese single boy have good height and good skills. Basically the China Team have good ball skills. I am more impress with the Boys than the girls this year.

For the girls-The Japanese girl single stood out the most.

For the Boys- The Chinese boy single and the Japanese Double.

For MX- the Chinese pair who play with the Indonesia team today. Both are very tall and skillful.

Wait until the individual event starts- we will see more. I foresee there is going to have some upsets in the seeded players.

Its going to be interesting.

I feel that there are alot of young players send by the country to gear them for the Olympic Youth 2010 for those borned 1992/1993. So actually we are witnessing some young olympian in this tournament.

i still have match describetion to go on.

Reddy Sikki is good but lost to Tee Jingyi badly but managed to redeem herself by playing well against Ratchanok. Reddy Sikki have good skills and intelligence but i think the Malaysian girls are able to match her though.

sikki is the one i observa since last year, talented, she need some time
i dont think she will be a trouble for tee or sonia, but others not sure:rolleyes:

Ratchanok played a matured game for 14years old but i do think she will have difficulty maintain her 2nd seeding ranking. I like the way the Japanese girls single Mitano.i think, she has a style that reminds me so much of Hirose or even better.

well,i hope more than she will do well in team event so that she will not so hunger to win in individual event(seriously,we chat alot, thats why i know her characteristic),but seem she is not doing well here, tee jing yi will have a tough time with her.

mitani is cute!!!yes,i agree with u.:D

The Chinese girls have not really been tested by other country except by the Japanese.

seriously i dont thin chen xiao jia can go any further in chinese team

Why u dont want to discuss the malaysian Jr. I think Shervon who played in the mixed double was troubled by her partners attitude that disturb her concentration and game. She seem down. we start with china vs japan.

japan really had they ability to upset china, but they didnt in result. that determination and ability had lead them to beat korea and advance to semis.
the ms match is really a tight contest, and i will say this is one of the match of the day.
both very determine to win,the standard/level and skill is really near. a taxing match for their stamina, all kind of stuff been showed in the match but mainly display is tight net play-force high lift-cunning smash, both of them really trying hard to out move their opponent and why china won that match?because wakanabe did a number of mistakes in 3rd set(same ending for mitani)

chen xiao jia ALWAYS need time to be in competition mood, thats why u will see she play really bad in 1st set,try to return the birdie but miss hit,try to smash but into net/out and this is quite often. mitani take advantage of that and take the 1st set,but she hardly had any chance in 2nd set as cxj find her feeling. in 3rd set, before interval, the contest is still quite tight but after interval, mitani start to do many unforce error, she cant control her racket well, maybe is due to mentaly tired i think.

for the md match,1stly,one funny thing is lu kai smash the birdie and stuck on japanese md racket and all of them had smile:D.
lu kai is as tall as bcl is not taller. chinese md pair had the height advantage but that didnt convert into a win. japanese md prove that they are the pair to watch, winning the match in a tight but interesting match.japanese md is abit underperformance in this match,a 5% i think.

japan had chance to beat china by winning ms,ws and md,but the chance flew, and this lead to another upset.

will skip both mas match(will post in mj 09 thread after final)tired.

3 more tie to describe, korea vs ina, china vs ina, kroea vs japan.

we start with korea vs ina 1st.

seriously,i think korea md is on a low as they lost to ina then japan. they didnt do well in team event, event. any comment?

and i just pay attention to this match start from the wd(too many court to watch lar, china vs japan is gan jionging, mas vs india is ongoing).

at 1st,korean wd didnt perform well and is trailing by 6-11 in 1st set, then they slowly catch up with more stable performane but that didnt stop ina wd to win 1st set.in the following sets, both pair play equally good, neck to neck battle and finally, korean pair won with a tricky cross court net play.surely a frustrated ending for the ina pair as they really play their heart out.

in xd,the score migh suggest u a tight contest bu seriously,NO;).
with a slow destiria and off form ullin, korean xd easily reach game point at 20-9(i almost fall asleep),then the korean start to made mistakessss after mistakessss+ a few good react by ina pair, the score become 20-17,then just korean finally seal the game point.in 2nd set,the game is finally tighter with destiria speed up her play. ina reach interval at 11-8(not sure if am correct),and ullin did find his touch after interval, nice to watch but too late for ina to come back and win the game as korean xd had found their confident;)

p/s:i sitting next to the line judge when they playing md,korea 23-22 ina in 2nd set,the smash from ina is out,i saw that,i am sure that is out,the korean coach also. but the linejudge say in,umpire agree with him:rolleyes:,and then korea lost that match.

limsy
07-13-2009, 10:49 AM
actually that is not much to describe on ina vs china
ina coach field a relatively weak line up:cool:
and one thing is
ullin and destiara are not quite in form, but yet the ina coach decide to field them in every tie:rolleyes:

this is a 2nd best squad of china, but yet japan and ina didnt manage to beat them, the problem is there to be solve, krisna. this is just like china send 2nd best squad to mas gp gold and still win 3 titles with malaysia win 2:rolleyes:.

well, they didnt unfold all their player but we did. and they had record down many tie as i notice. a trouble for others in wjc.

korea vs japan.
kang ji wook and choi hye in had displayed enough skill and talent to win the match, the only points for korea.
watanabe is really trashing kim min ki,ssm need to find the solution.
after playing in xd and rest for half an hours, choi hye in then walk to the court again.this match is really tight. none of them had lead more than 3 points i think,in both set, they fight like this is the last match in their life.very entertain to watch and in the end, mitani is the better player:D
the md match had a high quality, atleast a gp level performance by both pair.
great match,i rate this as the match of the day in term of competitive battle:D

Agree, agree. Msia press hinted why Education Ministry didnt allow the participants to go, coaches also voiced their disappointment .:D;)

What to do? Anyway it's already over and hopefully the young ones can train harder for the Youth Olympic Games next year, but it's gonna be much tougher to qualify.

The competitors will be bigger and older and not limited to Asia. To win just one gold medal means you are the top junior of the world! Maybe Malaysia's best chances are in badminton.

The swine flu seems to get worse by the day and more have fallen victims. It is now pandemic or "prevalent over a whole country or large part of the world". Those who are weak, like the sick, children and older folks, are the most susceptible and it seems the flu attacks the lungs directly causing pneumonia in particular.

So good hygiene, including the washing of hands regularly, avoiding crowded places and wearing a mask in such places if possible, covering your mouth adequately when coughing or sneezing, can help to mitigate the spread of the virus.

well... today matches between malaysia and Japan was a thriller with the Malaysian team rose to the occassion.

The player for today between malaysia and Japan surely is Iskandar who played extremely well to win.

Tee Jingyi played her best but not good enough to win. The Japanese girl played her strategy well.

Our Mixed double was good today but we treaded dangerously on the boys double. I would said we are lucky to win this tie as i am not sure we are able to win the GD.
But at the end it is the win that count. Syabas Malaysia. I dont think many think that u could go final.

Well the final against China will be tough but not impossible. If we get a point from the MX, BS and (either GS or BD). If we lost the MX then it is really tough.

I wonder whether Tee Jingyi could win against China GS.

Taken from other thread....
BAO YiXin is the 4th from left (top Row)
Ma XiXI is the 2nd from the left (top row)
The others...??????we should need Suetyan's help to recognize them

http://www.badmintonasia.org/gallery/AJ%20U-16%202007/China%20GT2.jpg
hmm, I only can recognize some :o Xia Huan 3rd from the left (top row), Tang Jinhua 2nd from the left (bottom row), Chen Xiaojia 4th from the left (bottom row). Some of them are having long hair now, so I am afraid I recognize wrongly :p

As I expected, Iskandar won his MS but now Tee Jing Yi must play her best to overcome Chen Xiaojie in the WS, which is not easy. This match can break or make Malaysia in the subsequent matches.

Yes, agree. Chn still very strong in their WD....so if Mas cant take WS ..........it will be very difficault for mas to win the title........;)

if MAS takes the WS, I think MAS will win the title because China's MD is quite weak compared to MAS. If MAS lost the WS, then I think China will win because China's WD is quite strong compared to MAS :D So now the WS point is the crucial point :D
