if he doesnt have any basic, no racquet is suitable, and this has been discussed numerous times, racquets don't develop players

in short, no.
the racket is too stiff for a beginner to handle and they'll have troubles generating sufficient power.

+1. For a beginner racket, you couldn't do much worse. The AT900 series rackets are only really for advanced players.

Beginners should stick with Beginner racquets. Like Muscle Power 2-7.

I guess this doesn't apply to me. My first racket was MP100 :P

I think not, beginer might not have enough wrist and arm strength to wield it effectively to enjoy badminton. The AT900P is just too stiff and head heavy for a beginer, even a 4U one. It is just like getting a new motorcyclist who have just pass his 50cc motorcycle riding licence to ride on a 1000cc bike, I don't think he will enjoy his new ride too much.

my 1st racquet was a cab21 Sp. i agreed that AT900P is not suited for a new player.
newer player can go for CAB or MP series. they are good to start with.

hi there,
I am also quite a newbie(played one year plus). I tried many racquets including arc 10, arc9, ns8000... but once when i bought the at900p, strung with nbg95 at 24lbs, it feels really good. can easily hit base to base. Perhaps, I am slightly big size or maybe it is due to the string i used, think it is quite okay. of course when i switch to at900power, i already played roughly for eight months...
by the way, as a reminder, no matter what racquet you use, after playing with the racquet and u feel pain, switch to another one as it can cause further injury...
smile always,

He should start with a low-end flexible racket. As he gets better, then he could switch back to the AT900.
btw, my frist ever racket was a $10 Wilson racket from those sports chain stores :P

Get him one of Apacs entry level rackets. Eg. Nano 900 Power strung at 20 lbs. When he gets better, he'll know what type of racket he prefers.

get him a flexible racket, like a MP-22. it will work wonders compared to the AT900.

no its not a good racket to start off with for a beginner. He should start off with a racket less stiffer. Probably one of the low ends/middle ends series should be fine. Unless that beginner has pretty good wrist power and arm power i would not suggest it and also AT900P is generally a heavy racket to move around with so the beginner wont do well with it.
