Yo,

So I just replaced the towel grip for my AT900 Technique SP and to my horror, the paint job on the C.S. Cap of my racquet (that triangular-cylindrical shaped thingy that connect the shaft and the grip) came off with the hardening grip!!:crying:

My worry is... What is that C.S. Cap outer layer made of? can it rust when the paintjob covering it come off?

it should be graphite. rust, probably not

if you do not want the paint falling off again, dont wrap all the way up to the cone, but instead cut it off before.

Well, I think it's fine if the paint came off. If you're a hard core badminton player, the C.S. cap paint should eventually flake off.

common for the cone to flake. some can chip as bad until the serial is gone.

usually i wrapped until slightly over the cone. but if you are using an overgrip, it's fine to wrap all the way up cause there's no adhesive on the back of the grip & it will not ripped the paint off.

Chill dude  . Pretty sure that the cone is the same material as the shaft and head of the racket, which is graphite. Graphite does NOT rust because it is NOT made of metal. It is made of CARBON. Leave the racket as it is.

i've seen the base underneath the paint & it does not feels like carbon graphite but just plastic.

i maybe wrong. :D but it's not metal for sure. on iron/steel will rust. iron & steel are so dense that they put addition weight to the racquet & it's not possible by the manufacturer.

Getting your towel grip up to the cone on yonex rackets won't end good.Any thing that's sticky will take the paint off from where it should be.That happends to me as well. Now i only grip my racket only up to the point that's shown in the pic no 7.

The entire CS cap is plastic, like every other cone. You've just taken off the paint, dont' worry about it.
