Badminton Australia has secured significant sponsorship support and has received the approval of the BWF to conduct a Grand Prix Event offering US$ 50,000 in prize money as follows:
- Venue: Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre
- Dates: 22-26 July 2009
I hope this attracts player from Indonesia (Djarum especially) and Malaysia..
chris-ccc 06-04-2009, 11:19 PM .
This is highest prize money offered in a Badminton tournament held in Australia.
Let's hope it would attract more international players to participate.

bh185008 06-04-2009, 11:30 PM yeah...lets hope so.....and if thats the case..i will fly down to Melb to watch..:)

You are right. It is attractive. Because it also can be played back to back with the New Zealand Open GP... :) With 2 GPs in a row, the trip to this part of the world will become more worth it (a possibility to collect a total of 10000 ranking pts and around US$8000 for a MS winner)... :D
CLELY 06-06-2009, 12:50 AM Finally Australia has GP bdm tourney. Looking forward for this new GP...
george@chongwei 06-06-2009, 02:24 AM does KLRC sponsor both the new zealand and australian badminton tournament?
chris-ccc 06-06-2009, 11:52 AM hey Chris..did you use to play in Sydney too?
.
Yes, I was in Sydney before I came to Melbourne.
Many SBA members would remember me as their association coach and competition players grader.

Great!! Maybe it will attract more players to NZ Open then. More than last year at least (lets hope)... >_>.
llpjlau 06-06-2009, 12:00 PM Great!! Maybe it will attract more players to NZ Open then. More than last year at least (lets hope)... >_>.
and also increase the exposure and popularity of badminton in these two countries! take over AFL (and rugby, as is in NZ) as the #1 sport
Krisna 06-06-2009, 12:03 PM does KLRC sponsor both the new zealand and australian badminton tournament?
I have not seen a single publication that describe this 2009 Australian Open GP as a KLRC sponsored tournament... so, my best guess is: no.
badMania 06-07-2009, 03:08 AM If PB Djarum and Pelatnas are to send their teams to the Australian and New Zealand GP, what abt the Laos International Challenge 2009?
Krisna 06-07-2009, 09:56 AM If PB Djarum and Pelatnas are to send their teams to the Australian and New Zealand GP, what abt the Laos International Challenge 2009?
I would devide the INA players to 'those who can win a GP' and 'those who should win an International Challenge first'... :p
'Those who can win a GP' should go to Australia Open GP and NZ Open GP:
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Tommy Sugiarto
Maria Febe
Rizal-Debby
Tantowi-Richi
Fran-Pia
Greysia-Nintya
Edo-Lingga
Wifqi-Alfiat (in the borderline)
These players have won [at worst... one] BWF level 4 tournaments in the past, so it is time they win many BWF level 3 tournaments...
'Those who should win an International Challenge first' should go to Laos International Challenge and Indonesia International Challenge ;):
Nugroho Andi Saputro
Yoga
Hayom
Bandar Sigit
Andreas Adityawarman
Lindaweni
Aprillia
Fransisca Ratnasari
Rizky-Albert
Etc.
Well, this is my logic... :p

Nothing much on the official site as yet (or rather I presume that this IS the official site, if there is any).

Would it be a good idea to get together Melbourne-based BCers to go watch the event together? Suppose it'd be easier to convince people once the draw is out.
george@chongwei 06-22-2009, 03:56 AM wow dolphin! seems that u already used to Melbourne already eh?:)
so fast already involve in badminton..
Dolphin 06-22-2009, 07:38 AM hi george, nice to see you here. actually, it's more like the other way round... using badminton to get used to melbourne :)
let me know if you have any info of entries to this tournament. my guess is that there shall be some KLRC players coming over.
tinned_ham 06-22-2009, 08:43 AM entries close tomorrow for the Aus Open Grand Prix, so you won't be seeing the draw for a while yet. i hear that the organisers are expecting a decent amount of good (well, better than the usual bunch we see in international tournaments here) players considering that this is the first time a Grand-Prix-level event has been held in Australia. Yonex has been confirmed as the official sponsor of the $US50,000 event, you can read more about it here at the Badminton Australia website: www.badminton.org.au
Krisna 06-23-2009, 05:14 AM It is confirmed that INA will send these players:
MS
Alamsyah
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Hayom Rumbaka
Andreas Adityawarman
WS
Maria Febe
Fransisca Ratnasari
badMania 06-23-2009, 08:43 AM Once again, no representative from Pelatnas. I thought this is an excellent opportunity for the Doubles players to win a title! Very disappointed

Yes, INA's XD, MD, even WD can perform well here... :o Fran-Pia, Rijal-Debby, Tantowi-Richi, Wifqi-Alfiat, Edo-Lingga, Nintya-Greysia, even Debby-Pia can perform well in Australia GP...
badMania 06-23-2009, 07:10 PM Who's in charge of tourney planning in Pelatnas? Cancellation of the MAS GP Gold after the draw is out (thereby incurring thousands of dollars of cancellation fees) and now ignoring the potential tourneys whereby INA players can win a few titles are really atrocious decisions

Could it be the H1N1 virus thingy? Msia Ministry of Health strongly advised Msian sporting associations not to send althetes to USA or Australia for competitions due to high number of cases in there.
ctjcad 06-24-2009, 01:56 PM ..a case for the upcoming U.S. Open, 2 S'porean players withdrew on reason of H1N1 virus. While i'm here still witnessing beach goers still flocking to the beach to sunbath..

.
Yes, it's unfortunate that we in Melbourne, Australia have some cases of the H1N1. However, no cases are reported with our Badminton players. This I can assure you, as I know most Badminton players here in Melbourne.
Hope that the Malaysian Ministry of Health can investigate; and find that the H1N1 is OK here in Melbourne within our Badminton community.
.
Dolphin 06-24-2009, 08:50 PM IMHO, the Melbourne H1N1 situation is mostly hyped up - way overblown and made up to be much much worse than it actually is. it would be such a shame if sporting competitions held here lose good players due to this issue.

LOL, I'm not the Ministry of Health & they follow WHO guidelines. ;) The NSC(who's the boss of all the sports accociations) is even considering recalling the Msian track cycling team currently based in Melbourne. They've training there for years.
Jagdpanther 06-25-2009, 06:02 AM Who's in charge of tourney planning in Pelatnas? Taken from Bola:
"Kita akan lakukan evaluasi lagi karena hasil di Indonesia jelek. Mereka baru akan berangkat ke Filipina dan Thailand,"sebut I Made Oka, Wakil Ketum II PBSI."
Notice the bolded sentence. And AFAIK, the gentleman who said it is an army officer... :p
Some other possibilities:
1. Maybe it's true, lack of money. Pretty sad if it the reason, really. They have money to pay MAS GP cancelling fine, but no money for AUS? :(
2. H1N1
3. PBSI officials: "AUS GP? Really? Where? When?" :p
huangkwokhau 06-25-2009, 06:37 AM Once again, no representative from Pelatnas. I thought this is an excellent opportunity for the Doubles players to win a title! Very disappointed
Thai Open is same week as Australia GP....PBSI is planning to send some to Thai GP and some of them may go to Laos Challenge as well...
It is good that Djarum goes to AUS GP and NZ GP...
May be Djarum can send some of their junior players to laos Challenge....then again...a week later, we will have INA Challenge
Krisna 06-28-2009, 09:51 AM Hau-ge got information today that indicated: 'people in charge of sending the athletes' in the INA National Team didn't even realize the existence of AUS GP :o and the fact that the NZ GP has been moved to July... :o So Jagdpanther's possibility #3 is the most probable... :(
a.kurniawan 06-28-2009, 03:32 PM really??
that's a bit unprofessional IMHO..
I think PBSI might've missed a huge opportunity to gain experience and (perhaps) easy points for the players..

I think the tournament in NZ has always been held in July, with the exception of 2008 due to the clash with Beijing 2008..
Maybe these 'people in charge of sending the athletes' should start checking BC and mark their calendars for future reference now.. :)
I also noticed in the players' facebook pages that sometimes their friends (more like fans to me) ask whether they'll participate in a particular tournament. So I think it should become an unofficial reminder to them..

At first, yes.. But given the hint that you gave that it's been like that for some times, I think I've heard about this person already. The coach from djarum told me when he came over for the AKL international..
So surprised that that kind of person is still being kept by PBSI..
ctjcad 06-28-2009, 04:11 PM ..if it's not like that, then it is not PBSI..;)
BadFever 06-28-2009, 06:56 PM Since this is a Yonex sponsored event, any chance of seeing Taufik and other independent players from IND?

Adi Pratama or the Pelatnas Pratama players?
If u are talking abt the Pelatnas Pratama players, they have been scheduled to participate in the Domestic Tourneys in Tegal and Surabaya, plus the Astec Indonesia Int Challenge in Jakarta for the next 3 weeks.
george@chongwei 07-20-2009, 01:40 AM not sure about which pratama..but the prataman who won the ajc md title yesterday;)
PoLLuX 07-22-2009, 12:28 AM Hayom (INA) beat Luke C (AUS) 21-11 21-6 and he will facing Gurusaidatt (IND) at Round 32
CLELY 07-22-2009, 07:51 AM Gosh! Early exit for second seed Andre K.Tedjono, he lost to Hongkong player Wong Wing Ki, 21-13 ; 17-21 ; 18-21.
badMania 07-22-2009, 09:34 AM Unexpected exit really for the second-seed
Now, Andreas Adityawarman will have a chance against Wong Wing Ki for a place in the last 8. Alamsyah Yunus should also beat Simon Maunoury, while Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka will have a tough match against the fourth-seed Andrew Smith.
In the WS, both Fransiska Ratnasari and Maria Febe Kusumastuti should at least reach QF. Nana will be tested by the top-seed Yip Pui Yin, while Febe will face either Tse Ying Suet or Nguyen Nhung Le Ngoc in the last 8.
Krisna 07-22-2009, 10:47 AM I am very dejected that Andre lost to that HK teenager... The match lasted 59 minutes! With Andre's speed and power, he should have overwhelmed Wong Wing Ki within 30 minutes... :(
Hayom can beat Andrew... as long as he keeps controlling the game as he should, Andre should be his... Adit can also win against WWK... just bore the HK player to death with his usual boring rallies... :p
BadFever 07-22-2009, 07:14 PM Yup, quite surprise to find out Andre lost this morning. I left after he won 1st set. I thought it's going to be a quick finish for Andre. Skill, speed and power wise, Andre is at least one level above WWK. Should have stayed and watch this exciting match. :(
Both Adit and WWK are tall and skinny. Would be fun to watch these 2 players fork it out.
AndrewSmith played very well last night. He was toying with the the NZL player. Hayom will have to play his best. Hope Hayom will find a lot inspiration to 'crush' a player who likes wearing bright pink color shirt on court. :p
But I think, overall, some players (especially IND and MAS) might be affected by the freezing condition inside the hall, especially late at night. Yesterday was a good example of the famous Melbourne 4 season weather, bright and sunny in the afternoon. Rain a bit later. Then turning cold to freezing into the night.
BadFever 07-22-2009, 07:30 PM Before I forget, job well done to the organizer. This is definitely unexpected. They have transformed a pretty dark and congested hall into ....errrr......WOW!!! Hall is bright and shuttle hitting sound is very acoutic. This is what I call a REAL badminton hall. Nice. :) :) :)
I feel like taking my rackets there and have a few hits after the tournament finishes on Sunday, before they start turning it back into norm. :D

Krisna 07-23-2009, 03:51 AM Wong Wing Ki appear to be injured right now... My friend in the stadium said he slipped... Adit might be declared the winner by a 'lucky slip' by the opponent... But not clear yet. The match haven't started... They're treating WWK. I saw the photo via my phone...

Agree. But this is Australia la. I think over the last 3 days, there were probably less than 10 spectators each night. The rests are players, coaches and family members. :o Well, at least we get to seat among all the players. Very warm and family like. hehehe :p :p :p
For next year, please get Djarum to sponsor a bus load of IND supporters over here ok, Krishna? ;)

Alam vs. Aditya Prakash [IND]

This is going to be tight. Both players possessed quite similar style of play, they got good defense and they run down their opponents. ;)
What happened to Lee Tsuen Seng? He always lose to unseed player. Too bad..
SengSeng(some girls kept calling him that :p) punctured himself in the 1st set playing an all out game against the above IND player. The 2nd set he kept looking at his friends who sat next to me. Maybe he needed ambulance service. :p
All INA WS are in the quarterfinals...
And yes, we shall see Nana vs. Yippie! 50-50, I think...
Both Djarum WS breezed through their matches quite easily last night. I think Maria Febe has better chance of winning against YipPY. Nana defense is weaker and this gives YipPY better odd with her offensive style.
chris-ccc 07-24-2009, 01:22 AM .
It looks like 'The Match of the Day' for today, Friday 24-July-2009, at the Australian Open Quarter-Finals, could be in the Mixed Doubles Match between:
Danielle Barry/Joe Wu (NZL) vs Renuga Veeran/Raj Veeran (AUS).
We again have our infamous 'AUS-vs-NZL Rivalry'. ;););)
IMHO, Barry/Wu will have a very slight advantage.
.

Sorry... Unfortunately, our CCC Badminton Club players needed me to organise our CCC Social sessions/activities weekly.
Therefore, I am much removed from this tournament. I can only get involved in this tournament via our BC threads/PAW Games. :(:(:(

well, george,u should know our chris in aus had a big big business for his club:cool:;)
Krisna 07-24-2009, 02:50 AM Both Djarum WS breezed through their matches quite easily last night. I think Maria Febe has better chance of winning against YipPY. Nana defense is weaker and this gives YipPY better odd with her offensive style.
I saw Maria Kristin dismantling Yippy with fast attacking lobs, drop shots, and soft play in Istora last year... Yippy could not attack properly... Unfortunately, Nana does not have Maria Kristin's technical skills... [Yippy's soft skills are even worse than Nana's, I think] Nana has the stamina and raw power to last more than one hour if needed... :D This should be a very interesting match, I think.
.
We again have our infamous 'AUS-vs-NZL Rivalry'. ;););)
IMHO, Barry/Wu will have a very slight advantage.
.
Oooo??!? Another neighbourhood rivalry?!? Something like INA vs. MAS, ENG vs. IRL, JAP vs. KOR, and IND vs. PAK, I see.... Coolll....
Krisna 07-24-2009, 04:11 AM Febe is through! 21-14, 21-12... an easy match, I suppose...
Hayom is locked 10-10 in game 1...
Nana vs. Yippy... 23-24 in game 1... as expected very tough!
Krisna 07-24-2009, 04:12 AM Ouch... Yippy won 25-23 in game 1... very close...
Hayom leading by a thin margin 14-13...
badMania 07-24-2009, 04:14 AM Nana had a 5 pts lead in the first-set, but she could not capitalize on it
badMania 07-24-2009, 04:17 AM Hayom takes the first-set 21-19.
PoLLuX 07-24-2009, 04:18 AM Go Nana!!!!

Come on, take the second set and force rubber!! ^^
Cheering: Naaaanaaaaaa..... Indo..ne..siaaaaaa plok plok plok...

badMania 07-24-2009, 04:38 AM Nana lost 23-25, 16-21. She should have taken the first set :o
PoLLuX 07-24-2009, 05:33 AM 7 straight points form Adit providing him next spot in semifinal
yay!!!
Adit awesome
:)
Krisna 07-24-2009, 06:07 AM Nana lost 23-25, 16-21. She should have taken the first set :o
Yes...
I'm now hoping to see the much anticipated Yippy vs. Febe final... That will be a contrast of 2 styles... Febe has terrific footwork but not much power... :p Yippy has power but lack soft skills... :p Febe should have an edge over Anita tomorrow... ;)
Hayom, Alam, and Adit all through to the SF... awesome for INA!
Hayom vs. Chan Yan Kit... hmmm... tough to call... 50-50... Chan has more experience, but Hayom is more talented and has explosive shots [if he uses them at the right time]... Not many have mentioned this, but Hayom can execute the backhand smash very well...
Alam vs. Adit... errrr... both prefers to play the 'safe rallies' kind of game... Could be quite a long boring uninspiring game... 51-49 for Alam due to his experience... but who knows... Adit is playing very well in this tournament...:D Both were members of Pelatnas until last year, they should be quite familiar with each other's game...

Two candidates of 4th MS for INA Thomas Cup Squad..CMIIW.....
simonlovers 07-24-2009, 06:34 AM Huang Chia Chi/Tang He Tian win...
34 years old Tang He Tian still awesome!!!
badMania 07-24-2009, 07:12 AM Expected results today.
SF Lineup in MS & WS:
Chan Yan Kit [1] vs Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka -- tough to call, but Chan Yan Kit might just edge it.
Alamsyah Yunus vs Andreas Adityawarman -- I agree with Krisna that Alam has a slight advantage.
Anita Raj Kaur [4] vs Maria Febe Kusumastuti [2] -- Febe should take this one and it does look like she will meet Yip Pui Yin aka "Hak Mui" in the Final on Sunday.
george@chongwei 07-24-2009, 08:20 AM anyone knows how tall and what is the weight of alamsyah yunus? badmania?;)
Krisna 07-24-2009, 08:53 AM anyone knows how tall and what is the weight of alamsyah yunus? badmania?;)

Not sure why but I learned of this nickname when Yippie won the Silver Medal in the Asian Games 2006.
CLELY 07-24-2009, 11:27 PM Alamsyah Yunus cruises into finale, beat Andreas Adityawarman 21-18 ; 21-17.
CLELY 07-25-2009, 12:05 AM Maria Febe beat Anita Raj Kaur convincingly, 21-12 ; 21-9 and likely will meet top-seed Yip PY tomorrow.
yan_brot 07-25-2009, 01:20 AM i think my prediction tomorrow will be INA vs HKG clash
febe vs yippie
yunus vs yan kit
Krisna 07-25-2009, 01:47 AM Yes, most likely we will see Febe 'the floating fairy' [I just made that up because of her terrific footwork, ha ha] vs. the 'flying tigress' Yip PY...
Hayom vs. Chan... mmm... I still think 50-50... Hayom has all the tools to beat Chan YK...
setia84 07-25-2009, 02:14 AM Hanyom winner ...
and all INA
Febe or Yip 60-40
CLELY 07-25-2009, 04:18 AM All INA affair in MS final tomorrow, Dionysius Hayom eliminates Chan Yan Kit, 16-21 ; 21-13 ; 21-19.
yan_brot 07-25-2009, 04:29 AM ouch i've got a wrong prediction...glad 2 see all INA MS affair in final.
febe must beat yippie tmrw
suetyan 07-25-2009, 05:08 AM My estimate: 165 cm and 55 kg... ;) Maybe Sandy knows better...
165 cm and 55 kg? Are you sure? It looks more like a girl's weight and height :o
aulia 07-25-2009, 05:19 AM Febe will meet Yippie. Yip beat Kristina 21-15 19-21 21-17. Go Febe!!! :):)
Krisna 07-25-2009, 05:20 AM Hayom vs. Chan... mmm... I still think 50-50... Hayom has all the tools to beat Chan YK...
All INA affair in MS final tomorrow, Dionysius Hayom eliminates Chan Yan Kit, 16-21 ; 21-13 ; 21-19.
Look at this score... 21-19 in the final game... almost nothing between them. The match could have gone either way... :D
ouch i've got a wrong prediction...glad 2 see all INA MS affair in final.
febe must beat yippie tmrw
Hehehe... we're all glad you're wrong, even you are glad you're wrong...:cool: Go INA badminton!!!
aulia 07-25-2009, 05:20 AM 165 cm and 55 kg? Are you sure? It looks more like a girl's weight and height :o
Ah... no need to worry, as long as he can win with those weight and height....:D:D:D
Krisna 07-25-2009, 05:23 AM 165 cm and 55 kg? Are you sure? It looks more like a girl's weight and height :o
Hehehe, why don't you go and see Alam for yourself... Give me your best estimate... :p
Ah... no need to worry, as long as he can win with those weight and height....:D:D:D
Unfortunately... in my assessment, partially due to his height and body type [and skills potential too, of course] he can only win GPs and maybe some Gold GPs... not the Super Series / World Championships type titles.... :o

Ya... I understand it too. But just like I said, as long as.... he can win, hehe...
Of course we want our players have 'standard' body. Weight and height... :):)
Sandy 07-25-2009, 05:33 AM My estimate: 165 cm and 55 kg... ;) Maybe Sandy knows better...
he he, I can't estimate better
Looking the current BWF Ranking, we can't see MS Top-10 players with small physical. If he can reach Top-25 is very good.
We can see Top-10 in WS but didn't see them as BWF#1 after 21 rally point's era,
no "Justine Henin" in badminton.
suetyan 07-25-2009, 05:35 AM Hehehe, why don't you go and see Alam for yourself... Give me your best estimate... :p
lol, I never seen him before, so I can't estimate :D Just surprised of seeing that figure :D
suetyan 07-25-2009, 05:37 AM And I think Chan Yan Kit is not very tall also
Sandy 07-25-2009, 05:42 AM And I think Chan Yan Kit is not very tall also
Agree, CYK & Alamsyah have same style
I watched & compared them when IO09, they have fast smash return, good defence but the different is CYK's smash harder than Alamsyah's (his physical also a few bigger).

badMania 07-25-2009, 06:00 AM YES! It's an all-INA Final between Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka and Alamsyah Yunus in the Australia Open GP! INA has a chance to win 2 titles too as Maria Febe Kusumastuti will entertain Yip Pui Yin tomorrow.
BadFever 07-25-2009, 07:06 AM I don't think Alamsyah can beat Hayom.
It will be 50-50 for MariaFebe and YipPY. Both have different style. Will be very interesting to watch.
I got a feeling the MD and XD are going to be a one sided match, going to MAS and HK.
Match of the day will be the WD. GO AUSSIE!!! GO AUNTIE ROSIE(aka Tang)!! :p There are going to be full house of supporters for Rosie tomorrow. :D

In Jakarta Open this year...Alamsyah beat Hayom in 2 set....Hayom was not patience enough to play Alam's style..even Chan yan Kit did not like to play Alam...;)
huangkwokhau 07-25-2009, 09:23 AM Glad that Hayom has improved a lot........

Yes...Chan's smash are harder but Alam has better stamina...Chan Yan Kit dislike playing against Alam due to long rallies...( in Macau Open 2008)
Krisna 07-25-2009, 12:57 PM I don't think Alamsyah can beat Hayom.
No no... Alam can beat Hayom... the result depends a lot on both player's execution on the particular match... Both have their own unique tools to defeat the other...

Yes, Hayom was not patient enough last month. Let's see if he has learned a lesson from their last encounter... Actually, I don't know the shuttlecock speed in Australia GP. If the standard Yonex shuttlecock is used, then Hayom will have an extra edge. 'Slow shuttlecocks' will give Alam an advantage, while 'fast shuttlecocks' will benefit Hayom's power game...

I am still skeptical, due to Alamsyah's build. :p Actually I was quite suprised that Alamsyah beat Adit in the SF. Adit is very tall and has a lethal jump smash that he execute once in a while to gain easy point. I would have PAWed Adit to win this tourny.
Not sure about the shuttlecock speed. If I am the organizer, I would use the faster speed to help the Aussie players. The two aunties cannot last 3rd set. :p
george@chongwei 07-25-2009, 10:41 PM hkg xd won quite easily in the final though..
george@chongwei 07-25-2009, 10:42 PM now rumbaka vs yunus.
10-10 ..quite tight;)
CLELY 07-25-2009, 11:46 PM Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka won MS title, def Alamsyah Yunus 21-17 ; 21-18.
CLELY 07-25-2009, 11:58 PM As expected, Maria Febe Kusumastuti eliminates Yip Pui Yin with two close games, 21-18 ; 21-19.
simonlovers 07-26-2009, 12:00 AM Maria Febe beat Yip Pui Yin in straight sets....21-18 21-19
Yeaaah..Two titles for Indonesia....:crying::crying:
badMania 07-26-2009, 02:00 AM Once again, players from PB Djarum return home with something, this time 2 titles in the Australian Open GP :) Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka wins his first GP title and hopefully this will motivate him to win bigger titles in the future!
Maria Febe Kusumastuti also wins another GP title, after the Bitburger Open GP 2008.
All the Djarum players will continue their journey to the New Zealand Open GP next week.
simonlovers 07-26-2009, 02:06 AM Olympic Bronze medalist Tang He Tian get 1 title for Australia....

Yes...
Alam vs. Adit... errrr... both prefers to play the 'safe rallies' kind of game... Could be quite a long boring uninspiring game... 51-49 for Alam due to his experience... but who knows... Adit is playing very well in this tournament...:D Both were members of Pelatnas until last year, they should be quite familiar with each other's game...
Interesting to note that INA players can change clubs without too much problem. Just wonder whether INA clubs have any rules governing such changes or transfers such as compensation, etc, especially for the better or top players? Or players can simply move to another club if terms and conditions are to their favour.
I believe there must be at least an annual club league to determine who the top clubs are and prize monies must be quite attractive. :D
simonlovers 07-26-2009, 10:35 PM YongShu rhymes with "forever lossing". She changed her name for better luck:) True story.
OOOh...maybe this is the reason...
she always lost in Uber Cup
in 1996 she lost to Tampi/Finarsih
in 1998 she lost to Lomban/Nathanael

badMania 07-27-2009, 12:14 AM Interesting to note that INA players can change clubs without too much problem. Just wonder whether INA clubs have any rules governing such changes or transfers such as compensation, etc, especially for the better or top players? Or players can simply move to another club if terms and conditions are to their favour.

There are rules for changes and transfers of clubs.
Well, we do have the Kejuaran Nasional between clubs. Last year, it was Tangkas vs Djarum in the Final and Tangkas (with Alamsyah as MS) won the trophy.

For the complete rules-of-transfers, you may read the PBSI AD-ART [statutes] 2008 version... Maybe they have it in their website...
The club competition in INA currently uses the mixed team type [like Sudirman Cup]... and it is held bi-annually...

Next Kejurnas club championship will be in 2010...
INA tried to roll-out the Superliga Bulutangkis [Badminton Superleague] competition in 2007... but have not been able to hold another one since then... scheduling problems etc. have hindered the progress of the next one... In the Superliga, there are the Men's and Women's event; like the Thomas and Uber Cup. I personally think it is nice to have this Superliga in different years than the Kejurnas Mixed-team club-championships... Nice, like the BWF Thomas-Uber-Sudirman...

That was great! Thanks for that, much appreciated.
edwin 07-27-2009, 12:08 PM Qin Yiyuan/Tang Yongshu, I forgot which year, 1996 or 2000.
Should be 1996, as 2000 is the year when Qin Yiyuan and Gao Ling won the Bronze medal in WD.

I've also recorded the MD, WS and WD, and I will upload these matches on facebook.
..thanks for capturing & sharing them.
- The MD match looks quite entertaining, lots of attacks from both pairs.
- First time seeing Maria Febe K. play. She has good strokes, good power, and not too bad court movements. Hope to see more of her competing in bigger tourneys in the future.
Jyaki 07-31-2009, 08:49 AM Oh my god. I just received news that Rosie Tang and her partner won the woman's doubles. So SHOCKED! She use to be my coach:):cool::p:D
Anyone got photos of her?
george@chongwei 07-31-2009, 08:53 AM thanks for sharing the pics:)
