Reiko Shiota looked more gorgeous on court than the photo. But maybe in the second match, she was wearing the white top which was more stunning than the red. This Yonex design for JPN ladies is beautiful but it seems like custom-made for Reiko.
I don't think the JPN XD will get past ENG so better be there early to catch Reiko tomorrow morning. Worth waking up for. She's ideal as badminton 's poster girl.

Even with red shirt, Gong Weijie's sweat is still prominent.
Time for Li Ning to change the material for the players' attire. No wonder Lin Dan changed his shirt 3 times when playing LCW in Guangzhou.

Even from a female point of view, japanese cuties look beautiful in the outfits, esp Reiko. The size fits her very well, agree with pjswift, seems custom made. Maybe only Japanese players get this special treatment from Yonex.

Sealman is using Canon EOS40D coupled with 70-200L F2.8 IS USM lens and ISO is probably set at ISO800 to get a decent shutter speed.

..appreciate your contribution, panasonic_chai!...If you're using a P&S (point & shoot digicam), the best your camera can probably give you are those, which are perfectly fine. Can not compare with DSLR type settings & lenses. So, it's okay..The most important is for you to keep on shooting and share the pics with us!

:p..i just checked and you're using a Nikon D60, not a P&S type. ISO setting is fine (1600) & it's an acceptable body but yes, the lens, i noticed, unfortunately it's probably not as fast for taking baddy/indoor pictures.
Anyway, it's fine, take more pics!..

- I checked the EXIF infos in one of your pics..:)
- Not really your camera. But lens, yes. You could try sitting closer to the courts, thus decreasing your focal range which will open up a bit more of your aperture.
Hmm, another way to decrease the blur is try setting your camera to shutter priority (Tv). Increase it, but then most likely you'll have to increase your ISO, which will in turn make the result more grainy.
anyway knows how to remove the pic? haha
i wanna remove the blur pictures, seems like im making a fool of myself with them
Only way to remove the pics is to ask the moderators or admin/owner (kwun). But then, why would they??...;)

I watched the game, but seriously, think the Danish pair are a little over-hyped by their rankings. The Taiwanese pair were the better players, probably match nerves caused them well over 10 points in the overall game. They would have deserved to win in 2 straight sets.

The Danish pair can certainly play much better than that. Have you seen their past matches?
Somehow, I feel that many of the top players are not "on form" for this tournament.
**KZ**
06-13-2009, 09:14 AM
that's right the danes can play much better and a lot of the top players didn't play very well in this tournament for some reason....
Anyone pls share the pics of Jiang2....
After her good showing against hot favourite Wang Yihan in the QF, Jiang Yanjiao squandered her chance to defeat XXF in today's SF and lost 21-17, 10-21, 19-21 in 52 min. Despite her smaller size, Jiang made XXF work very hard for her victory.

Somehow, I feel that many of the top players are not "on form" for this tournament.
Ok, let me rephrase that... the Danish pair didn't look like that they were that high up in the rankings... :p
Better known for their XD prowess, unseeded Anthony Clark and Nathan Robertson were joined together not too long ago when Nathan's petite XD partner Gail Emms (?) retired and England was also without a reliable and more consistent MD team.
You either like or hate this new English pair for they never cease to excite and surprise with their court antics and arguments with the officials on disputed line calls, etc. Especially the younger Robertson, who looks rather more handsome without his goatee and head band and who never hesitates to throw his racket in desparation or causes undue delay like purposely wetting the floor with his soaked body when he is forced to dive for a shot. Whatever, they can certainly brighten up some dull moments. :p
Now their prowess seems to have shifted from XD to MD as this SO has witnessed. Malaysia's KKK/TBH (3) fell victim to them in R2 (21-13, 19-21, 14-21), so did China's Guo Zhendong/Xu in QF (17-21, 18-21). And in today's SF, Taiwan's pair of Chen Hung Lin/Lin Yu Lang, who shocked Denmark's Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen (2) in yesterday's QF, also succumbed in similar straight games of 21-19.
Will Clark and Robertson be as lucky tomorrow when they meet Indonesia's No.1 seed, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan to determine who will be the champion? ;)

Great pictures!
They are incredibly sharp for that lighting
Thanks! ;)
Honestly though, the lighting there is actually quite good. The camera's exposure settings make the lighting look dimmer than it actually is.
But to get the sharp action, the ISO and shutter speed had to be cranked way, way up.
Thanks! ;)

Hi Kwun,
Thanks. ;)
5Dmkii , 70-200 f/2.8 IS L, AV Mode, f/2.8 - f/4, 1/400- 1/1600 shutter.
Basically adjusted along the way to get what I thought looked good.
But contrary to belief, the camera is very, very capable in Ai-Servo tracking. In fact a lot more reliable compared to the 40D which I previously had and previously shot at last year's competition. The OOF rate is really wayyyy less compared using the same lens. The only real issue I had was the relative shutter lag of this camera compared to the 40D, a lot of shots relied on intrinsic timing rather than quick response to nail them. As a result, many shots were lost due to the lag ... :crying:
But still... very happy with the overall results, despite it being 'not a sports camera' .... :D

THey were put there in anticipation of viewers seating there. That's the corporate sponsors' box. It was about 1/3 empty.

Well, the AF, the DOF and the pixel count all work very well if used right. There is tremendous 'cropability' in the picts that this camera churns out. Oh ya, the ISO capabilities of the camera are quite amazing too. Just over-expose by 1/4 or 1/3 and basically ISO 6400 is usable for prints up to 3000x5000 pixels without any adjustment at all.
Another side benefit is the amazing shallow DOF video that only a FF DSLR
can provide. As far as I've seen from what an individual might afford... nothing out there comes remotely close. So much so.. it has created of an offshoot market in DSLR cinematography! And a very, very fast growing one at that !

Hahaha.... smitten by her ain't you ?? :p:p:p
Of course I have, one of the more interesting subjects to shoot at.
Honestly, think she looks better in person than Wang Yihan or XXF, she looks a lot more personable and 'real' ( except the very square shoulders part). In contrast, I do think XXF looks anorexic in person, she would look better with perhaps 10% more weight equally distributed, especially the face / cheeks, looks really sunken, a little bit like mal-nuorished. :p
Also, think ZTT would look good if she dressed up correctly, she does have very nice facial features when viewed in person.

Cheung, I'm definitely alright. Do read my words/phrasing again.. :p
4-5 years ago, I thought she looked a little 'country-side girl'. She has matured over the years but I have to say she doesn't look that great on the court but if you see her up close, she does have very nice facial features, just need more polish and dressing up.
Some girls need to dress up to look good, some girls don't. She belongs to the former in my books. Of course there is another third category which falls outside of these two... :p
If you look at the recent Beijing Olympics pictures of Ge Fei, you'll be surprised how different she looks all dolled up.

Jiang YanJiao versus XXF. This young woman somehow reminds of Han Aiping, short of that killer instinct that marked Han as a great player. Very calm and composed, very fluid on court and very straightforward yet efficient shots. If she develops that killer instinct, she will go very far.

China's Zhang Yawen/Zhao Tingting (5) took 55 mins to overcome Indonesia's unseeded pair of Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii just to win in straight games of 21-14, 21-13 to be crowned the Singapore Open WD champions.
The Indonesian pair impressed and delighted the spectators in all their five matches before bowing out. Their best performance was when they beat Malaysia's WR1 and top seed Chin and Wong in the quarter final. They should be a team to watch in the near future.
Here was their successful journey to the final and their unfortunate opponents who lost to them:
SF - Lena Frier Kristiansen/Kamilla Rytter Huhl (DEN) (8) 22-20, 21-12
QF - Chin Eei Hui/Wong Pei Tty (MAS) (1) 17-21, 21-16, 21-19
R2 - Shinta Mulia Sari/Yao Lei (SIN) 21-12, 21-17
R1 - Jang Ye Na/Kim Mi Young (KOR) 21-10, 21-8

The INA pair is good, yes. But I would say their best performance was in the final itself, not the quarterfinals or semifinals.
It was a hard and fast-paced game where the scoreline flatters to deceive. Whereas in the q-finals and semis, there were more errors and flat play from Nitya.

So I believe you've now slowed down your talking a bit lah. :p
It was extremely difficult to take a good picture of Polii executing the backward roll as the court actions and excitement had ignited the crowd further and they never hesitated to use their yellow balloon clappers at regular random. I had to dodge here and there to catch sight of Polii and just click, click, click, hand holding camera without a tripod. So the images must be affected somehow.
Unpredictable SO
Well the ongoing INA SS might turn out to be more unpredictable with the first round departure of WR1 WS Zhou Mi who lost to Japan's Sato.

So the images must be affected somehow.
hmm i tink so
haha
but sometimes ppl do say i talk fast too
haha
no wonder i c a yellow thing on the pic
nway much better than my compact cam
i knw it x take gd pics so i just video instead but not much tho cos memory full.hehe

Aviva Open finals.
Disclaimer: I am not the photographer.
P/S: BCL was very nice, asked Boonsak to step up and share the #1 podium with him for photo-taking.
PP/S: I think Boonsak collects his opponents' shirts or something cos he asked for a shirt from BCL after prize presentation, and had a plastic bag all ready to keep BCL's sweaty (first set) shirt.

..Boonsak's swagger (self-confidence, boldness) is there and personifies himself but he's not arrogant (sombong).
Yes, Boonsak's gracious (murah hati) personality personifies him off the court.
