Sealman 06-09-2009, 09:32 AM Here are some photos of the Li-Ning booth....
You may wish to refer to the exorbitant prices posted by modious and teoky in these threads:

ps. sorry for the quality of the photos as they were taken in a hurry. was afraid of being chased away by the li-ing staff :D
Sealman 06-09-2009, 09:39 AM Li-Ning inside the stadium and on court...
There were no Li-Ning stringing machines... using Pacific stringing machines...
aramistuscany 06-09-2009, 09:41 AM The first Li-Ning boutique outside China will open on the 21 July 2009 at ION Orchard. They might hold a promotion where the prices listed above may be reduced for this occasion. All Li-Ning products in Singapore are controlled in the major retail outlets (e.g. Mustafa, World of Sports) that are available for sale.
Sealman 06-09-2009, 09:45 AM The linesmen were dressed in Li-Ning outfits... Was wondering why do they have to wear a cap? Doesnt it block the view of the linesmen... and they could steal a nap... :)
modious 06-09-2009, 09:52 AM I really like the black/gold racket bag. Guess I will get it once badminton dealers outside start selling. ;)
Hey! I saw myself in the background in one of your pics. :D:D
aramistuscany 06-09-2009, 09:55 AM The shuttlecocks in use for this tournament is the Kason Tournament shuttles. They were unable to prepare and bring in the 450 tubes of shuttles of the Li Ning Aviation+ 300 Tournament shuttlecocks (retailing at $59.90 a tube here) required for this tournament. The Li-Ning Aviation+ 300 was used at the recently concluded Sudirman Cup in Guangzhou.
According to the Li-Ning sales rep, all Li-Ning racquets are considered mid to high-end. As such their prices retails from $99-$489. The low-end segment is covered by the Kason brand range which is also owned by Li-Ning.
modious 06-09-2009, 10:01 AM Thanks for the pics though the red colour in some of your pics are off...... :D

extremenanopowe 06-09-2009, 10:12 AM that guy in the picture didn't come... so its definitely impossible. ;)
OneToughBirdie 06-09-2009, 10:16 AM The linesmen were dressed in Li-Ning outfits... Was wondering why do they have to wear a cap? Doesnt it block the view of the linesmen... and they could steal a nap... :)
Because LYB wear cap all the time, it will slooowly becoming a new baddy fashion to wear cap:p:D
aramistuscany 06-09-2009, 10:38 AM I took similar pictures today also but I asked permission before I start snapping. The staff have no problems with it. One of them even gave me a sort of impromptu interview and some info about the company's badminton range of products.
In fact he is aware of the sentiments of BCers here about the steep prices about their products as he does read and monitor what is written here. He replied that these racquets are made of the highest quality and alot of R&D has gone into them with the collaboration of the Chinese National Badminton Team. It was also the company's concerted effort to target at the mid to high-end segment.
Ferrerkiko 06-09-2009, 11:08 AM Woo... I am really shocked to see the prices of Li ning rackets. Its sky high, they got to bring down the price , if they want to compete with yonex rackets.
One question to ask fellow badminton fans here..
Without buying ticket to watch the Aviva open , can i walk into the indoor stadium to buy Li ning stuff, and how much is the Li ning china wear clothing ?
Second question is Li ning store is at which level of Icon store .. thanks ?

ION is at the corner of Orchard and Paterson Road and its not opened yet. It wil be in a couple of weeks time probably concurrently with the Li-Ning boutique.

The shirts range between S$59 - S$199.
You will need to purchase a ticket in order to enter the Indoor Stadium if I'm not wrong.
Impressive is what I would describe Li Ning's first official foray into the Singapore scene here!:D:p
They must have put in a great deal of effort to outshine veteran Yonex!
No wonder Yonex is not willing to release TH this year for it will be completely outshone by by Li Ning since Yonex products will have to play second fiddle at least in this SO.
I suppose Li Ning is able to buy over most, if not all, of China's top-notch players from Yonex to put the latter in such an angry mood. However, if TH is able to play and win the SO with Yonex products, it would have salvaged some pride for Yonex. But now the opportunity is gone and Li Ning will have not much of a competition from Yonex at least for now.
Let's hope Yonex can fight back later in the year. They say competition should be good for everybody! More parties attracted into the fray will even be better. ;)
prothobs 06-09-2009, 04:28 PM I had not heard of this brand before... huh. From the look of the shoes, they look very stiff and uncomfortable.
The competition will be great though. Korea moves to victor, China moves to this brand and there seem to be more and more companies pushing badminton (wilson, head, rsl etc).
I think it is great for the sport!

..wow, it's great if the person is aware and has been reading the posts in this forum..You should've asked him (or maybe can ask him later): "What's up with the ultra thin-material and design worn by the CHN players in the recent Sudirman Cup?". And ask him if he would wear such t-shirt to play baddy..;)

..yes, from my past experience, i also concur that you'll need to purchase a ticket to enter the stadium and check out the booths. They check everyone outside prior to entering.

..we shall see whether the prize monies in the SS, in the future, will increase or not. IMO, that's one significant indicator for the sport's appeal, esp. with all of these new companies/sponsors competing with Yonex.
Thanks guys for sharing the pics!
Ferrerkiko 06-09-2009, 06:01 PM Its the Great Singapore sale now, most branded stuff is already in discount , shouldnt Li Ning follow , and give discounts too ??
Ferrerkiko 06-09-2009, 06:09 PM Now i wonder, which badminton fans at this forum , really spend $400 plus, $100 plus and $200 plus on Li ning , clothes, shoes and rackets in the booth at the stadium.
Its good for the sports to see variety of brands. Something fresh. In regards to the price, im sure some or many is willing to fork out and buy the items.

I know.. my photographs are poor and disgraceful :(. They are taken with my Sony Ericsson Cybershot C905 and I have not really play around and optimize the settings. Maybe that's the result from a mobile phone cam limitations. Sealman's pics are really superb and sharp.
Anyway I am sure there will be a few BCers who will take more pics as the tournament progresses.
asderin 06-10-2009, 12:01 AM Are there any Yonex stuff for sale at the Singapore Open?specifically bags?
george@chongwei 06-10-2009, 12:52 AM wow, this is beautiful!!!
but the price is more beautiful:D:D
btw, thanks for all the pics, guys!:)

Because the capped one, LYB said so.
chaijk 06-10-2009, 07:23 AM I wondering which model of shuttlecocks they are using?
george@chongwei 06-10-2009, 08:19 AM I wondering which model of shuttlecocks they are using?
they are using kason shuttlecock temporary in this tournament
george@chongwei 06-10-2009, 09:03 AM i guess Li NinG racket can be strung into very high tension though..
newjazz 06-10-2009, 10:22 AM i was laughing looking at LD's poster... that's so fake.... when he smashing his mouth will never look like that... :D:D
anyway, their prices really too expensive....

Ferrerkiko 06-10-2009, 10:27 AM i wonder how many badminton fans here will really buy high end Li ning rackets at indoor stadium, since they are 400 plus?
asderin 06-10-2009, 01:38 PM Anyone?T.T...Please..
Sealman 06-10-2009, 01:51 PM For the past Singapore Opens, the Yonex staff at the stringing booth were always very busy. Today I saw an almost empty Li-ning stringing booth. Wonder if the stringing were not up to the expectations of the players or were the players' racquets handed over to Yonex for stringing.
Tango97 06-10-2009, 02:39 PM I'd buy high end li ning rackets but they re not available in england so i cant at the mo
for me prices arent the problem finding the right racket is most important
aramistuscany 06-10-2009, 03:34 PM In the Lee Chong Wei and Andrew Smith match, shuttles were changed almost every point. At one stage an exasperated Lee Chong Wei helped himself to the shuttles from the service judge and went through several shuttles before selecting a suitable shuttle. He hit a high shot to test the shuttle's flight before proceeding with the match.
Earlier at one stage he even shook his head apparently with the quality of the shuttle when Smith went for another shuttle change.
chaijk 06-10-2009, 11:11 PM Maybe we shd gv Li Ning some more times. After all, this is only their second sponsored tournament after Sudirman Cup. I would say almost all the shuttlecocks are made in China, it would be easy task for Li Ning to find a good factory to produce their shuttles. Hopefully, when the tournament reached semi-final and final and everybody are watching the games on tv, the players change the shuttles every single point. That would be ashamed!

China's racquets are not being strung at the stadium.
The team has installed their own stringer at the hotel.
Of course, the Li Ning logo needs to be applied as well ;)
Moreover, this year, the stringing service is not complimentary.
A fee is charged for every racquet - but it's a discounted fee.
The stringing machine is a Pacific make - and the strings are Yonex.
Only Singapore is getting its Li Ning racquets strung here.
george@chongwei 06-14-2009, 09:24 AM it seems like li ning come out top again in today's final. err, yonex:(:crying:
Oldhand 06-14-2009, 10:53 AM In the final, Yonex didn't do well at all.
It brand presence was rather scarce too.

MS - Li Ning beat Gosen
WS - Head beat Li Ning
WD - Li Ning / Li Ning beat Yonex / Yonex
XD - Li Ning / Li Ning beat Li Ning / Li Ning

obiously mean in XD(mixed doubles),
team A uses Li Ning/Li Ning racket VS team B that also use Li Ning/Li Ning rackets.
Good info from Old Hand!
yangtfy 06-14-2009, 11:49 AM Have anyone used Li-Ning racquet already? and can give us some good feedback?

I think we have a misperception here, players win or lose does not depend on what brand of racquet they use. There are various factors that affect the players performance, well that i won't go into details since most of the BC members here or as a player should have already known about this.
What is most important is that a player does not lose because the "A" brand racquet is being inferior to "B" brand racquet or one is being more superior that others.
For example, just take a look at Lin Dan. He can performs so well with Yonex Armortec 700 and after he change to Li Ning Wood N90 he can still performs well like he always does.
In general for China team, in the past when they were sponsored by Yonex, their performance is near to unmatch and now they are sponsored by Li Ning, their performance is still the same. Not that we will see they have gone immortal or worse in performance.
As a player, we take our racket as our partner and our weapon in court, what really matters is the skills.
What's most important is that we should get ourselves a racquet that is suitable for us and within our budget, brand is just the individual preferences.
*I'm just giving my personal opinion on this matter.....so no offense people*

I agree absolutely; all these "Brand A vs Brand B" and if Brand B wins, means Brand B is better simply perpetuates the notion that the racket is the most important part in badminton play...rather than the indiviual talent, hard work put in by the badminton players and their support personnel ie coaches etc :D
Dreamzz 06-15-2009, 06:35 AM yonex does like to claim that 90+% of the winners in particular tournaments all use yonex gear though. i doubt we'll be seeing those claims anymore ...

For me, using Lining will be a disadvantage because I will not dare to go within 6ft of any partner. Any mistakes is guaranteed to be EXPENSIVE!!
Now.. about Yonex... those losers dare not let Taufik participate in Singapore Open. I'll only consider a Yonex after I get over that...

drifit 06-18-2009, 06:14 AM Will Li Ning sponsor the Malaysia GP Gold?
MAS team is sponsored by Yonex.
if Li Ning comes and sponsor the MAS GP Gold, it will be something like LN scratching YY face. :D
i thought these guys were quite bored :)
They looked so free... unlike Yonex stringers during the heydays... literally work 24/7.. even have to string rackets in the hotel room.
ldylilith 06-18-2009, 07:31 AM Even though Li-Ning is the equipment sponsor for the Aviva Open and they have a stringing booth in front, there is actually also a Yonex stringing room backstage (dunno why) -- maybe that's where the work is being done...
