ctjcad 06-12-2009, 03:28 PM ..a few noticeables:
- Boonsak still on course to repeat his 2007 performance..
- Surprisingly, only 1 CHN pair left in the Women's Doubles fray..
- Another rematch between KOR's Lee Yong Dae & Lee Hyo Jung vs. CHN's Zheng Bo & Ma Jin..will the KORs finally redeem themselves and erase their winless record vs. this CHN pair?..
- INA's Nova Widianto & Lilyana Natsir still on course to defend their XD title and surprisingly looking for their 4th S'pore Open XD title in as many yrs. Looks like this is their favorite title ground..
badMania 06-12-2009, 07:14 PM - INA's Nova Widianto & Lilyana Natsir still on course to defend their XD title and surprisingly looking for their 4th S'pore Open XD title in as many yrs. Looks like this is their favorite title ground..
Err...I have to correct u again here ;)
Nova/Butet won the Singapore Open title in 2004, 2006, and 2008; missing the titles in 2005 and 2007. To be more precise, they are looking for their 4th titles in 5 years :)
Ferrerkiko 06-12-2009, 07:17 PM I am very disappointed with singapore ladies singles, again cannot reach semi final.
huangkwokhau 06-12-2009, 07:20 PM I am very disappointed with singapore ladies singles, again cannot reach semi final.
Dont be dissapointed...this SS is tough, actually Singapore Ladies performed well, considering by reaching 2nd round.....especially FU has beaten Lu Lan...
badMania 06-12-2009, 08:06 PM XD SF
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen [6] -- the last few times they meet, the CHN pair was superior. They hold a slight edge.
WD SF
Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii vs Lena Frier-Kristensen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl -- I have to say that Nitya/Grace have improved a lot and they definitely stand a chance against the Danes.
MD SF
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen [4] -- even though I would very much like Kido/Hendra to win the SG SS title tomorrow, let's just take it one match at a time. I still think that Kido's condition will hamper their chance
badMania 06-12-2009, 08:13 PM Traditionally, the Singapore Open has been a good tourney for Team INA.
2004 -- XD, MD
2005 -- MS
2006 -- XD, MD
2007 -- XD
2008 -- XD
2009 -- ???
I hope Team INA win at least a title. I am not sure from who but if Kido/Hendra can beat Paaske/Rasmussen (despite my skepticism), they should have the highest chance of winning the title.
Oldhand 06-12-2009, 09:46 PM Last night, against Hendri-Hendra (the Indonesian brothers who play for Singapore), Kido and Setiawan were hardly convincing :o
Kido's smashes were lacking the usual bite and Setiawan looked edgy.
This doesn't augur well for today's semifinal against the relaxed Danes.
jasonmarc 06-12-2009, 09:55 PM Again,....BCL and CJ will put on an act.....in todays's MS SF...Who will wins ?...it will depent on LYB's calculations...hehehehe
abedeng 06-12-2009, 10:02 PM Agree with Oldhand, Kido/Setiawan's journey will stop here today. Kido cannot even make a clean smash when presented with a flick serve. When stretching his knee, he has problems recovering.
In fact, none of the surviving top seeds are impressive. Better performance came from the lower seeds or unseeded players.
abedeng 06-12-2009, 10:04 PM Again,....BCL and CJ will put on an act.....in todays's MS SF...Who will wins ?...it will depent on LYB's calculations...hehehehe
A simple calculation, Bao has the best chance,CJ is struggling with direction changes, maybe his waist injury again.
jasonmarc 06-12-2009, 10:10 PM A simple calculation, Bao has the best chance,CJ is struggling with direction changes, maybe his waist injury again.
So this time...the injury...could be a genuine one...... but BCL also told the world he has serious knee pain....since last year.....:)..!
Sportech 06-12-2009, 10:55 PM :crying::crying::crying:i can't watch Wang Lin again! need to wait till tomorrow......
hezudao 06-12-2009, 11:17 PM So this time...the injury...could be a genuine one...... but BCL also told the world he has serious knee pain....since last year.....:)..!
real classy:rolleyes:
and yeah he should have told the world he isn't in his best form, lol;)
pjswift 06-12-2009, 11:28 PM INA XD reckoned their excess weight has cost them some titles. This time, Lilyana actually looks trim (almost slim!) and Nova looks fitter. Their chances look pretty good.
DEN WD has improved markedly and they have a shot to win since Kamilla is out of XD and so can focus on WD. The INA crowd support is big so hopefully the Spore crowd will get behind INA's opponents.
Jonc108 06-12-2009, 11:54 PM ..a few noticeables:
- ..
- Surprisingly, only 1 CHN pair left in the Women's Doubles fray..
- ..
because amongst the 3 strongest CHN WD pairs:
- DJ/YY not join this competition due to injury;
- ZYW/ZTT defeated CS/ZYL in QF as they were drawn on the same quartet...
otherwise you might find 3 CHN pairs in semi-final... :)
Jonc108 06-12-2009, 11:58 PM real classy:rolleyes:
and yeah he should have told the world he isn't in his best form, lol;)
yah... or LD could in fact tell the world that he was, is and shall be not in the top form since OG04... :D:D:D
jasonmarc 06-13-2009, 12:13 AM real classy:rolleyes:
and yeah he should have told the world he isn't in his best form, lol;)
At least the one who was not in his best form...have lost...means he was telling the truth...! Its only the world cant accept that.....with an open heart.....;);)
narnia 06-13-2009, 12:36 AM Agree with Oldhand, Kido/Setiawan's journey will stop here today. Kido cannot even make a clean smash when presented with a flick serve. When stretching his knee, he has problems recovering.
In fact, none of the surviving top seeds are impressive. Better performance came from the lower seeds or unseeded players.
I hardly agree. Kido is not such a character to stop here. He will make it through all the journey with his strong mentality. The strongest always shining out at the end; esp. in badminton, at the final stage you will finally know who is real strong.
:)
wongccw 06-13-2009, 12:39 AM is there any internet boardcast?
narnia 06-13-2009, 12:41 AM Much better than CHN trails. Who is this??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UetawttcU4U
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 12:44 AM Who is this??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UetawttcU4U
Krisna had mentioned it that it was M. Ulin, the best of INA's junior....he will be competing at Auckland International series next week....
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 12:45 AM I have a feeling that ZB/Majin could not defeat LYD/JJS easily today....will be interesting match to see since both of KOR can focus now on this match.
narnia 06-13-2009, 12:52 AM I have a feeling that ZB/Majin could not defeat LYD/JJS easily today....will be interesting match to see since both of KOR can focus now on this match.
LYD must have studied a lot for the new CHN partnership. But, I think it depends on Majin again. If she can effectively and bravely deal with the different strategies from YD, CHN can advance to safer place with more confidence over the KOR duo. I felt MJ got strong mentality for that so it makes me hard to predict. :)
abedeng 06-13-2009, 12:52 AM Had a feel of the material used in making. Li Ning shirts, probably the same material as my car wash towel. It absorbs water.
lee-lee 06-13-2009, 12:54 AM I have a feeling that ZB/Majin could not defeat LYD/JJS easily today....will be interesting match to see since both of KOR can focus now on this match.
sadness..it's LYD with Lee Hyo Jung, not JJS. JJS is already out of the tournament..(although he IS a good player)
Anywayz, I'm very nervous for this match.. hopefully LYD/LHJ could win this time!
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 12:56 AM sadness..it's LYD with Lee Hyo Jung, not JJS. JJS is already out of the tournament..(although he IS a good player)
Anywayz, I'm very nervous for this match.. hopefully LYD/LHJ could win this time!
Oops..haiya! I am so careless....haha..not enough coffee today...:Dsorry!
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:04 AM Sensing trouble, pjswift shouts "c'mon Korea! Works too!
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:06 AM Both Koreans fail to find their range, makes the Chinese look better than they actually are.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 01:07 AM Err...I have to correct u again here ;)
Nova/Butet won the Singapore Open title in 2004, 2006, and 2008; missing the titles in 2005 and 2007. To be more precise, they are looking for their 4th titles in 5 years :)
*gasp*...really, i thought i wrote the same thing as you wrote???..*gasp*..
or maybe it wasn't clear??..*reading and comparing both posts, again*
Had a feel of the material used in making. Li Ning shirts, probably the same material as my car wash towel. It absorbs water.
..is that the same uniform worn by the CHN squad in the Sudirman Cup??..Or are those the ones at the booth?/..I thought the ones worn by the players in the Sudirman looked and seemed thinner than the current ones??..
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:07 AM Good placement by LHJ as Chinese forced back.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:10 AM LYD is off form. Simple kills forced to the net. One wonders how they beat the Thais last night.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:12 AM Unbelievable return from LYD stuns CHN.
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 01:12 AM LYD is off form. Simple kills forced to the net. One wonders how they beat the Thais last night.
LUCK could play big part...:D
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:13 AM ZB's power finishes off a great rally.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:14 AM More shouts of concern from pjswift, instead forcing Koreans into error.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 01:15 AM ..anyone has any idea?? CCTV5, GDTV?? thanks..
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:16 AM Liliyana Natsir looks much leaner now.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:17 AM First time ZB forced to a marathon run and makes an error.
narnia 06-13-2009, 01:17 AM I guess MJ keeping up front to the net. :)
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:18 AM INA slow on rotation and loses the pt.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:19 AM Korean short lift and ZB advances for the kill
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:20 AM XZB doesn't move very well, could be INA's chance here.
Koreans surrender game 1 meekly.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:21 AM Good backhand clear from Nova.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:23 AM Nova is noticably slow on court, whenever the opponents sent a reply to his backhand, he cannot move fast enough to sustain the attack.
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 01:24 AM Liliyana Natsir looks much leaner now.
last 2 weeks, al INA players had been thru more fitness program...till some of them were tired and sored....you need to slim a bit otherwise you can run faster like me....:D
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:25 AM ZB picking up shuttles sent out by Koreans.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:27 AM ZYW ducks from LN's attacks.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:27 AM INA giving cheap pts on long serves.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:30 AM Ma Jin not effective at backcourt.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:31 AM Nova needs to plug some defensive holes.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:31 AM 2 gamepts for INA

abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:33 AM Again, Nova's defense fails and Chinese force deuce
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:34 AM Brilliant net deception by Xie Zhongbo and Chinese take game 1
huangkwokhau 06-13-2009, 01:34 AM Shoot!! INA XD lost despite of leading 2 game points...sigh!
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:36 AM Nova is playing rather badly.
XZB too eager and smashes to his own court.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:38 AM Not LYD's day today. Service error to net at critical stage
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:39 AM ZB going for angles and misses.

..no luck on my end either..No CCTV5, no GDTV...Are we always going to depend on Chinese based channels to watch this type of tourney???..:crying::p
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:40 AM XZB try to be too clever, costs his team a few pts.
But this time he floors Nova.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:41 AM Ma Jin crouches to no avail
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 01:42 AM it looks like the rest of the M'sian BCers have taken the day off, too..Or maybe they're watching on their tellies..
abedeng 06-13-2009, 01:42 AM Ma Jin mishits her first matchpt.

Oldhand 06-13-2009, 02:23 AM broadcast? why don't you just hop over to the SIS??
I didn't because, over there, I can't eat, smoke, drink and watch badminton at the same time :D

narnia 06-13-2009, 02:24 AM What language do the INA speak?
Oldhand 06-13-2009, 02:25 AM good. stir his temper, get him mad and he will start screwing up and throwing rackets.
Yesterday night, in the last match, Robertson got into a physical with Guo Zhengdong. Unfortunately for China, Zhengdong made the (big, big) mistake of crossing over into the opponent's court... and, of course, he was penalised.
Worse, they lost the match too!
the parade of the linemen at the background must be quite distracting.

robin7 06-13-2009, 02:31 AM 21-19 21-19
ENG uncles advance to the finals.
tight match between ENG and TPE.
TPE has the skill to match the British but loses focus at times with simple errors.
i am on my 2nd bar of ice-cream tonight. not good to be sitting in front of the computer, not getting any work done, and getting fat at the same time.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 02:33 AM The broadcast here really sucks.
The throughput is the barest minimum possible.
As such, the broadcast picture keeps breaking up! :(
..are you watching live broadcast on TV in S'pore??..I thought they're broadcasting it on tv??..It should be smooth, isn't it??..
ENG pair won both games by the same scoreline..
why always buffering??

abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:34 AM I thought your attention was focused on the happenings on court :p
The guys seeing those matches live can help commentate on the situation on court.
Only people who are in the arena live can commentate on what else is happening within the surroundings.

abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:42 AM Found a great and high up vantage point, populated by video cameras more than people.
Juhl with a great touch and Danes move into the lead with 4 straight pts.
INA girls rather tense on the legs and arms.
Juhl stands out among the 4. physically and technique wise.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:44 AM Polii uses the same trick as Juhl.
a beautiful jumpsmash-fake-drop by Greysia. very smooth.
INA girls movement not fast enough.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:47 AM Yup, Juhl and Polii are trading clenched fists.

abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:50 AM Nitya has to show consistency to support Greysia Polii better. She has good power but needs to be mobile.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 02:50 AM The Danes are definitely displaying their power & taking advantage of their height..DEN ahead 11-9..
3 jumpsmashes by Greysia. dang.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:51 AM Nitya too casual with her dropshot. Gets a scolding from Aryono
Nitya very tense and inexperienced. 2 smashes came back and then drop the 3rd shot into net.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:52 AM Juhl's cannon just millimetres wide.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 02:53 AM Polii keeps her side in the hunt, dominates frontcourt.

Juhl hit simple lift into net at game pt. INA take first game, 22-20
etudiant 06-13-2009, 03:02 AM rubber for all chn affair.............
INA creates victory from defeat. Good thing too, Polii was working very hard.
GP was the key on the first game. she really tried hard to make up for Nitya. good job!
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:02 AM We go to rubber as XXF wins game 2 easily.
etudiant 06-13-2009, 03:03 AM noo they were in front the whole game !!
that's the game......ina more offensive at the end
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 03:03 AM my goodness, the Danes wasted their game pt and lost the 1st game..The INA pair outwitted the Danes toward the end of the 1st game..
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:04 AM Nitya sends a floater out.
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:04 AM that's the game......ina more offensive at the end
yeah .. i think that happens a lot - if you are in front the whole game, then you relax too much in the end af the game :(
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:05 AM Bad (scripted) start from XXF in rubber game.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:06 AM Bad idea to flick Juhl
Frier seems more tense on 2nd game.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:07 AM Frier is out of focus, time to take advantage as much as possible
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:07 AM the danes have probems gaining the initiative in this 2nd game ..
more initiative from INA paid off at the start of 2nd game.
DEN not awake from break nap also helped.
2 lucky net shots gave DEN some breather.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:09 AM Yup, Frier is trying too hard and not giving any margins for error.
INA cruising for the moment.
Frier tried a fake serve return and pushed it out.
11-4. big lead for INA on 2nd.
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:09 AM god - 11/4 .. now the danes has to wake up if they want to win this game!!
robin7 06-13-2009, 03:09 AM The Dane gals are so erratic at this moment. They are really paying their price for being over-confident at the end of the 1st game.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:10 AM Funny to see Frier hesitating to move for the kill.
Frier did it again. left a lift in. they are into the draft. so unlikely lift will be out.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 03:10 AM everything is going against the Danes..INA ahead 11-4 and brimming with confidence..
Frier K. misjudges another shot..Losing confidence more and more..INA 12-5..
and then Frier served into the net. very nervous and tense at the moment for her.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:12 AM Cheap points being traded by both sides.
and then Juhl serve into net. oh dear. not good for DEN.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:13 AM Frier is out of it, time to pack her bags to Jakarta.
if INA stay focus. they should take this.
Frier drives into net. 16-9
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:13 AM frier has really made a lot of mistakes in this game
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:13 AM Polii almost does a cartwheel on court.
Juhl held Greysia serve. it look short too.
Greysia dives for a save and almost did a cartwheel.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:15 AM Time to land a big PAW, INA sprint to the finishing straight.
CLELY 06-13-2009, 03:16 AM INA WD in final! Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari beat Danish pair Lena Frier Kristiansen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl, 22-20 ; 21-12.
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 03:16 AM the INA pair is getting more and more easy pts..i think more than half of their pts are from the Danes' errors...INA ahead 19-11..and getting ready to nail the coffin..INA 20-11..
Nitya and Frier traded spaces.
Nitya is much more dependable on the 2nd game while Frier just fried everything come her side.
etudiant 06-13-2009, 03:16 AM yay.....congratz to Ina......
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:16 AM Game over, INA coaches congratulate their players.
etudiant 06-13-2009, 03:17 AM neck to neck now for XXF and JYJ...........
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:17 AM that was two completly different games from the danes.. got too relaxed in the end of 1st game, and then frier had big problems getting her play up to speed again
donvito 06-13-2009, 03:18 AM POLII! POLII! (see you in the PHILIPIIPINE OPEN!) Juhl should be given a RED card for shouting at service judge!
Sportech 06-13-2009, 03:18 AM DEN lose?! hey, dat means MAS is not that bad after all...............
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:18 AM The Chinese script is still unclear. Both gals trading pts.
fitnessguy 06-13-2009, 03:18 AM but credit to INA - they kept the initiative (did what the danes couldn't)
ctjcad 06-13-2009, 03:19 AM Nitya and Frier traded spaces.
Nitya is much more dependable on the 2nd game while Frier just fried everything come her side.
that was two completly different games from the danes.. got too relaxed in the end of 1st game, and then frier had big problems getting her play up to speed again
..the ending of the 1st game definitely had its effect on the Danes..they never regained their composure & rhythm after that 1st game collapse; never got into it, again..The in-studio analyst mentioned the INA pair played with patience in the 1st game..
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:20 AM XXF start to show signs of fatigue.
abedeng 06-13-2009, 03:21 AM Well constructed rally, XXF on matchpt.
