CL is no more a unknown now........everybody know him,...so everybody are more aware when playing against him, so its more difficault to create upset anymore.......
I think TH will be able to beat CL.......

Its a tough one to call.. I think taufik is a "smarter" more experienced player, and I would put down my money on him as a favourite in this match. I think Taufik can adjust his tactics better and "read" CL better than CL can "read" Taufik.
However as it is the first rounf if things starts going bad for taufik in the beginning, I think he could get "lazy" and throw the game..(blaming the effect of last weeeks intensive play :-) )

If this is the first time they meet each other, I am sure CL will have the advantage as TH does not understand well how CL plays. Remember in last year China Open, TH lost to DPY (a chinese youngster). That was their first time meeting each other too :)

Yes, but TH has to be the favourite (if motivation etc is there).. I regard both Sony, Boonsak (in form) & Gade as better than CL (today), all beaten by TH in IO.. But CL of course improves :-)

I don't know..... saw the way he played against Bao in ABC and I must say I was impressed. But his lost to Hafiz in the India Open definately shows his inexperience. He hold the advantage but let it slip away.
Taufik may have just edge out Gade twice recently but that was because he was motivated to push further than usual (prestige All England and his own country title). If it was something like ..........ahem Malaysia GP, I think Gade would have won.

Was I proven wrong! CL defeated TH and very convincingly indeed.
In G1, TH gifted CL with too many unforced errors.
However in G2 and G3, it became quite apparent that CL was not just having the edge in speed but also in unreturnable smashes and, note this, in netplay. This is a CL that's quite different from what we saw playing HH in India Open.
This is a CL who was very well prepared to beat TH. CL's movement was sure and speedy. He knew 95% of the time what shots to expect from TH and it's quite clear CL had magnificent training. TH was slow, his defence was poor but he lost to CL mainly because CL's excellent netplay did not give TH any other options to turn the match around. TH played as best as he could and it's a pity he missed further opportunities to parade his THL wear here.( Yonex wear never look so classy) It was a superb match worth turning up for.
But the best sign of confidence from CL was that, unlike LD (who would ask for the floor to be mopped on his opponent's serve), CL actually asked for the floor to be mopped on his serve.
Congrats, CL. A most well deserved win!
It's likely we will be looking at Spore's Ashton Chen vs CL match on THU. Ashton's rather impressive today. He packs a backhand better than LD. It's gonna be a good match.

Ashton probably ran out of steam. Burned up too much energy in G2 so had to play catch up in G3.

TH did not play badly. The score reflected that.It took TH one game to figure CL out. The next 2 games were close. It's the 'I know all about you, haha and you don't know about me yet, hehe,' challenger advantage that's so common in NSS upsets. The test is whether CL repeats his feat. But it's good to see CL win. At least there's hope for CHN to produce a champion who can win on his own, without teammate help.

TH's not done yet and I don't think he's gonna lose sleep over his loss to CL. Ok, I did not mention his knees did not look good. It's not a major match. Mulyo's not there. TH played in a motivated manner in spite of his knees. His determination was just a bit short of WMC level (who probably has the highest standard in that quality.)

I think TH underestimated CL. In the first game TH played a bit leisurely and made many mistakes. On the other hand CL did not look impressive. The first game reminds me of CL's 2:0 win over LD, in which LD made many mistakes whenever he tried to gear up. However, starting from the 2nd game, CL showed his good power and his wide variety of shots often caught TH by surprise.
That said, I still don't see much improvement in CL's movement, which is on the slow side, and now and then looked a bit awkward. This will be his major weakness when facing top players like LD and LCW.
