View Full Version : Philippines Open 2009 Day 3: 02/07
badMania 07-01-2009, 06:44 AM MS & WS
Needless to say, both the remaining INA players in the Singles will be eliminated tomorrow by more experienced opponents.
MD
All the Pelatnas and ex-Pelatnas MD pairs (4 of them) are playing home pairs, so, expect them to cruise through the first round tomorrow. In R16, the top two seeds will again have the easier task. So, Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan and Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki are expected to reach QF without breaking a sweat. Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto is expected to face the young CHN pair Qiu Zihan/Zhang Nan, while Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie might just face their senior Adnan Fauzi/Tri Kusharyanto. Again, I expect both pairs to reach the QF also.
WD
In the WD, the top-seed Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati also face a home pair in R16, while the fourth-seed Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii is likely to lose to Gao Ling/Wei Yili, also in R16. I don't think Pia Bernadet Zebadiah/Debby Susanto will beat Deng Yuting/Lu Lu in the first match tomorrow. All in all, expect only 1 INA WD pair in the QF.
XD
I will expect both Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto and Fran Kurniawan/Pia Bernadet Zebadiah to beat their opponents. The match between the ex-Pelatnas pair of Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa and the upcoming pair of Ahmad Tontowi/Richi Puspita Dili will be an interesting one to watch. AG/Vita might just edge it experience-wise.
Overall, INA's biggest chance of winning a title in Manila this week is probably in MD, thanks to the withdrawal of Hendri/Hendra and Choong/Lee. We shall see if Bona/Ahsan and either AG/Alvent or Rian/Yoke can create an all-INA Final. Next will be in XD, which is likely from the newly formed pairing of Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa.
george@chongwei 07-01-2009, 06:52 AM all the best to mas players tomorrow:)
hcyong 07-01-2009, 09:52 AM How come MAS fans so lazy? Just "all the best", while INA fans come up with detailed analysis.
chemile 07-01-2009, 09:59 AM I think because not so many MAS players participate in this tournament... :)

I am so hopeful this time... MD and XD shall be INA's... I think Alvent-Hendra and Vita-Hendra has the best chance... ;) It should still be their time... Veterans don't die easily... :D

I think because not so many MAS players participate in this tournament... :)
I think it is because MAS just won 2 titles in INA Open...:crying: while INA got none in our own home-turf... :crying: We didn't get a birthday cake in our own birthday party... :crying: Our neighbours did. :o
So INA fans want to experience victory/glory ...much more than the MAS fans... :p

badMania 07-02-2009, 01:15 AM Somewhat interesting matches in R16:
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan [1] vs Krishnan Yogendran/Yeoh Kay Bin -- Bona/Ahsan have the easiest road to the Final. If they win this one, they will face another home pair in the QF and probably Edo/Lingga or Chen/Shen in the SF.
Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie vs Adnan Fauzi/Tri Kusharyanto -- a potentially tricky match for Edo/Lingga against their seniors.
Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra [5] vs Zhang Nan/Qiu Zihan -- given their form, AG/Alvent should progress. They are expected to test Rian/Yoke and potentially Gan/Tan for a place in the Final.
Pia Bernadet Zebadiah/Debby Susanto vs Yoshimi Hataya/Sachiyo Imai -- again, I am not sure if Pia/Debby can progress to QF

Are you sure?? Aprilia is leading Zhou Mi 11-7 now in 1st set....how come she won 1st already??:confused:
badMania 07-02-2009, 03:05 AM As expected, Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto become the first INA XD pair to progress to QF after a straight-set 21-9, 27-25 over Hui Wai Ho/Tse Ying Suet. They will face another HKG pair, Wong Wai Hong/Koon Wai Chee for a place in the SF. With Rijal's experience, I think they will win.
Their possible opponent in the SF could be Fran Kurniawan/Pia Bernadet Zebadiah, if Fran/Pia can beat Chen Zhiben/Zhang Jinkang later on today and then Albertus Susanto Njoto/Ng Ka Shun in the QF tomorrow.
After beating Ahmad Tontowi/Richi Puspita Dili, Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa will face another tough test tomorrow against possibly Qiu Zihan/Deng Yuting, then possibly Zhang Nan/Lu Lu.

panasonic_chai 07-02-2009, 10:58 AM Du Peng Yu def Sairul
Alvent/Hendra AG won 1st set
anyone knows how old is sairul? this guy seems like never won any game before..
seen him play couple of times, he seems to play without motivations
Teck Kai 07-02-2009, 11:05 AM Saiful and Tsuen Seng both are from KLRC. They can play well, especially Tsuen Seng..
wierdngifted 07-02-2009, 12:03 PM I saw Trikus played this evening against the young HongKong mixed doubles pair. Trikus/Minarti won! Trikus has very good shot selection and great court intelligence! I'd say, he is a true LEGEND!
Yup!!!He is trully amazing!!!People and the hK pair were even awed on his magic shots!!!!I really like this guy!he seems to direct the shuttle in a second before the HK pair anticipates it the wrong way...
I hope somebody will record his games for tonight's quarter finals it is worth to see him play even if he's over the hill...
did anyone record his games last night????or do any one have an old video of his game????please?????

jump_smashing 07-02-2009, 02:00 PM yeah trikus is really tricky, similiar to sigit.
unfortunately no score result in tournamentsoftware, hope they resolve the problem asap
madbad 07-02-2009, 02:54 PM If I remember correctly, did we not have issues with results filtering though last year as well. TS Software remains blank for now. Wonder what the heck happened this time round.

The HK pair was strong and fast! The guy, wiratama (?), veteran of several world tournaments, made booming smashes, that at one point, it even hit minarti at her head! However, it was the "tricky" hands of Trikus, and the brilliant set-up of Minarti (and perhaps broader experience) that propelled them to victory!
nokh88 07-02-2009, 08:49 PM yes, betting site. You want me to post it ?

Whatever, HGK Pair was seed 1. Fantastic for uncle and auntie...
No..No..Trikus is over 40 yrs for sure..Wikipedia is wrong:(
..i double-checked, triple-checked and even quadruple-checked the many online sources, and for some reason all i got was the same info as Wikipedia. Perhaps Tri Kusharjanto is really 35 yrs young; maybe he looks more "mature" than his age...Maybe Hau-ge might want to ask Tri abt his real age??..
Sandy 07-03-2009, 02:40 AM Tri Kus officially registered born in 1974
He was paired with Minarti Timur to cover Minarti who already around 30 in 1996-2000

blank 07-03-2009, 10:06 AM watched the game of trikus and minarti a while ago.. they lost in the 3rd set against a chinese pair. but it was a good game though. when the chinese forced the lift and they get on the offense, it was a big problem for trikus and minarti. but with the fast and flat exchanges, trikus and minarti were at the advantage. well played match.
