look for suade on the inner front if you want them to last longer. Shouldn't make much difference though. Its highly likely you'll wear through the soles if you only use them on the court so i'd look for one with a thin sole.
oh yea, what kwun said.

Are tennis shoes and badminton shoes the same or is there a significant difference with them?

tennis shoes tend to be heavier, and to have very different soles. they also tend to be a bit stronger, with more protection in some areas. they're definitely not interchangeable with badminton/court shoes.
you're asking for injuries if you wear the wrong footwear - i see so many people wearing trainers, and other inadequate shoes, it always makes me wince.

Yonex SHB 92EX
Asics Gel Alta Plus
Dunno abt the rest though....
Like what pple has mentioned, get the one that really feels comfortable and fits your feet. Some pple has flat feet, strangely shaped feet, etc.
Get one that is light, indoor court type shoes. of course it helps if you like the design as well. :D
Badminton/Indoor Court shoes are different from others.... Tennis shoes and trainers are usually heavier. Also tend to be quite stiff.... which may result in injuries!
Trainers are also not designed for side to side movements... u might be off balanced!
And if the soles are not non marking soles, they will damage the courts!

ya its probably the only place in edmonton with a good selection of badminton shoes
Speaking of shoes, Im looking for one too, I'll be heading to spore soon and need an idea on where to look for shoes. If possible a recomendation on what shoe to get would be nice too :) my feet are flat, so definetely no shoe with a bump inside otherwise the inner sides of my feet will start aching.

Badminton shoes? It's best to try out the shoes yourself to see which suits your feet!
Head down to Bras Basah, lvl 1. I can't rem the shop name at the moment.... There're only 2 badminton shops on the first floor, so it shouldn't be that hard to find!
Anyway, they've the most collection of shoes IN Bras Basah.
Try to bargain with them, it helps.
Or you can make your way to Queensway Shopping Centre. They've lots of shoes but I don't remember seeing the high end Yonex SHB shoes there though. And the prices at Queensway are slightly higher.

Iwan,
i am flat footed too. and as a result, i have gone through a long journey looking for the fitting badminton shoes. there are brands like Gosen, Mizuno and older generation yonex who will give you endless suffering. the brands that you may want to try though, is Hi-Tec Adrenaline Pros and Yonex SHB95. the Hi-Tec is wide, and the SHB95 is even wider. the widest of all the shoes i have tried is a pair of Adidas that i picked up from HK. they were way too wide even for my feet. too bad they weren't that durable.

i was just wondering.. do you guys ever see the chinese people wearing "bai fan yu"(mandarin), "bak fan yue" (cantonese) or Plain shoes with no arch support (plain english). i've never tried them and i heard they're good for playing but give you flat feet. have you ever tried them? they're quite economical :)
thanks kwun :) modious, do they have SHB in Bras Basah? I thought they only have AR in singapore. well, thats what the yonex shop in Far East Plaza told me anyway. hmm... maybe its bcos their shop doesnt carry it

Yes, they've SHB shoes in Bras Basah. It's one of the very few places selling SHB shoes in Singapore. I think Queensway does not sell SHB shoes either.
The "BIG" Yonex Sunrise Shop in Far East Plaza is talking crap!
The only stuff which I buy from the Yonex Shop are Japan Imported Shirts @ S$60. It's considered cheap because if you import it directly from Japan (like what my friend did), it costs around S$100!!
One Japan Shirt costs 7,200 Yen btw.
But the drawback is that the Yonex Shop don't have all the latest designs. So that's why my friend ordered the IND shirt from Japan.
And yes, the material is different from the normal Yonex shirts that can be bought in other parts of the world. (except Japan of course!) The Japan shirts are what almost every Yonex Sponsered Players are wearing!
hehehe :) you buy it to intimidate your opponents during tournaments or smth? :D anyway, thx for telling me, now i really need to get to that shop :)
