Let me start this thread :D I think currently Chen Long is the male giant killer whereas Wang Xin is the female giant killer (Wang Xin bt XXF, ZM, WC, LL, WYH before) :D I am going out to play badminton now, after back then I'll continue to talk about Wang Xin :D

although my friends and i were cheering for Zhou Mi during the finals, i have to give credit to this feisty talented girl. everyone in the stadium were supporting Zhou Mi yet she was able to stand her ground in that deciding set. that's why during the awarding rites, it's just rightful that she get a big round of applause. congratulations Wang Xin!

..why she hasn't appeared in many tourneys. From what i saw from her match vs. Zhou Mi (in this yr's Philippines Open), she really has a very solid game despite her shorter height. Very sound footwork and smart in her game.

yes, i think during a competition to promote to the 1st team..wsx came in 3rd and WX from the province team beat several national players in the 1st team and the coach was quite impressed with her and she manage to get in to the 1st team without going in the 2nd team:eek:! that was quite extraordinary though..am i right, suetyan?:D

Nehwal seemed hot, beat 2 Chinese girls in a row, grabbed the 1st ever super series title for India in history, but Wang Xin just beat her with little effort.

Wong MC was hot at home, lost to Wang Xin too.

Wang SX was hot, with the Malaysia gold title, but Wang Xin revenged easily.

Zhou was hot, the world number 1, winner of the other super series, also cannot stop Wang Xin.

Well, in fact, Wang Xin was not supposed in the China national team, not supposed to appear in those open tournaments. It was purely an accident. She even has to tell each one in the China national team that she would be return to her own club soon, no intention to occupy any position at the national team. From Wang Xin's story, I can tell there are so many wasted talents in China, so many gems hidden deep in china have not shined out yet.

If all the Chinese players had the freedom to play international tournaments, then 90% of the top 50 ranked would be chinese. Hu Yun is another example.

Thanks for the info. Zhang Ning and Wang Xin are the same local fellows. Both are from Liao Ning.

It's pity that even Wang Xin, as the best female player currently, cannot play the world championship, not only that, cannot even play a super series. Which implies that a Gold tournament is more competitive than super series. WC is even less competitive, and Olympics is the least competitive.

WSX simply read WX's game. After a while it became predictable. Many of WX's shots are of the cross court variety. Even as a viewer I could see when she was going to play one. WX simply ran out of ideas in the end and couldn't change her game enough to win.

Nah, don't think so. Compared to WYH, WX has a rainbow spectrum of strokes. I didn't watch WYH play the Euro SS tournaments. Has she introduced anything new into her game or was the opposition weak?

It wasn't impressive performance by WX in the recent MO & KO 2011. And she have added Sung JH from Korea as the one of the two players who ever beat her in international tournaments (not including her teammates).

She plays well without the pressure of being world number 1.
She does not seem able to handle the expectation of being number 1.
This is a common trait with some players; Andy Murray, Dinara Safina, Tim Henman are examples.

Who you want to see win and who you think will win are 2 different things. WX is my favorite WS player but I voted for WSX as I think she will win WC11. I like LCW and as a malaysian, I hope he will win and but I voted for LD as I think he will win. It is a mater of betting with your heart or your brain, even though the brain got screwed up this time and many times before too, and picked the wrong WS winner. That is why I am still working and not quit to be a bookie...not yet:D:p

As for me, I usually base my replies as per the title of the thread. I voted for WYH (for this tournament), simply because I guessed that she could win (based on her current form).

It's not because that I do not like Wang Xin; for Wang Xin, she will get her chance when her form improves for future tournaments. :):):)

Surprised, perhaps Wang YH knows Wang Xin's game so well that she (WYH) was able to prevent her(WX) from playing her usual attacking game; if that's true, it shows the analytical ability of Wang YH - she would make a good coach in future. Why couldn't Wang Xin out-analyze or counter her opponent's tactics, I wonder.

Among the top Chinese women players at present, I may like Wang SX best, for her mental strength,steady nerves and self-confidence, but Wang Xin's style of attacking play - like the men's which few women player could emulate - never fails to impress me. If only Wang SX can acquire some of Wang Xin's attacking ability. Still, I believe, if Wang Xin can maintain her attack more consistently throughout her matches, she will be on her winning streak. She happens to be Morten Frost's favourite among the top four Chinese women players, at present.

Very true. Wang Xin was not winning many titles and she looked like she was gone until Zhang Ning pulled her back to the National Squad and she had since developed into the so-called "foreigners beater", a fact which has been many times proven true when she would lose to other Chinese players like when she lost to Wang Yihan in the SF recently after beating Saina of India in the World Championship 2011 QF.

I just watched the replay of the Wang Xin - Tine Baun QF match in Li Ning CHN Masters 2011. It's almost like watching two men's singles playing each other,both have fierce attacking shots and killer smashes. Though Tine seems to have a more powerful smash,she is less consistent,less accurate,weaker in defense,and more temperamental;otherwise,her tournament results should match Wang's. As for Wang Xin,I feel she deserves much better tournament results than what she is getting,often losing to her teammates. Hope to see her winning more major championships - she can do it,still only 25 yrs old;Zhang Ning was 32 when she retired after gaining her second gold medal in Beijing Olympics.

I totally agree with you. She is definitely the best WS player in the world right now. Her play is very similiar to Gong Zhichao. And she is 26 and probably will retire after OG. WYH is only 21, she can wait for another 4 years. :)

Agree with you...GZC and her running game, except WX also attack/smash...WX game is speed, fast, technique and the best weapon, her stamina, as if she just warm up to play the 3rd set when mosy players have passed out. GZC, Susi and WX, one thing in common, small but deadly.
