Isn't that too much time in the US?
Let's hope he is aware of the quarantine rules now in force in many countries.
The last thing he wants is to sit out the WC in some hospital in India :o

I think there's a high possibility that it is due to H1N1 since Thailand is listed as affected area. Maybe?
Maybe that's one of the reason why there isn't lots of players participating as well.

It could be the other way around.
Singapore's 'infection' numbers are up.
It's around 1 in 4,000 now.

Is he representing Singapore?
No...he comes back to play for his club...he is representing INA now...
BWF just reminded Thai Referee to change it from SIN to INA...
I have been told that next year Thai Open will be scheduled after INA Open..
Basically will be like this in 2009" Phillipine Open, SIN Open, INA Open and Thai Open...

Quite surprise, both Zhou Mi and Wang Chen names are in the entry list when most of top-players (except home shuttlers) will skip this GP Gold tourney due to World Champ preparation...

..playing for money now more than a WC title. Taufik should participate, too. Will benefit him in 2 ways: it'll give him more training for the upcoming WC and it could fill up his wallet, too..;)

Yeah, this Thai Open could be a warming-up tourney before the big one in Hyderabad...

Yes, but many BIG guns from CHN, KOR, MAS, DEN etc (whom also WC*contenders) skip this tourney,
Maybe they're more focussing on training to get peak performance on WC next August
Or it has something related to H1N1 and recent political issues in Thailand?
For INA camp, i think there's another major issues:
The financial problems,
IMO, PBSI should give bigger opportunity to their junior squad to compete in international tourney
But hey, it's a classic old songs!

PBSI decided to send them to NZ Open instead of Thai Open

PBSI decided to send them to NZ Open instead of Thai Open
Yeah aside from World & Asia Junior Championships,
Its great if PBSI (or any other baddy association/country) decide to expose their junior squad and back up players to more int'l tourneys (GP or GPG level), to gain more experiences and WR points
Just like CHN did, no wonder their juniors & back up players's game already at the top level
Given the fact that Thai Open didn't attract many top players,
had PBSI decided to send their players, maybe INA camp could get a title or two
Oh Well, lets hope Alvent/Hendra could bode well ,-)
Without many top players compete in this tourney,
could make this years edition a little less interesting,
hope there's still a lot of interesting matches shown
GooD Luck 2 all players ,-)
